Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Is It All Talk or a Doing Therapy?
out Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, often referred to as CBT. This particular
branch of therapy suggests that our thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations and
behavior are all connected. Its most important component is to help people
identify and change thinking and behavior patterns that can be harmful and/or
ineffective. Ultimately, figuring out the problem, seeing what you're currently
doing, and finding a more effective way to achieve success. We have both tried this approach, so we weigh in on the pros and cons from our individual perspective. The origin, the techniques and personal stories ensue. Join us in the conversation.

Fibromyalgia, Princess Vespa and Her Little Gold TeaCup. Creative Copes: Season 1, Episode 13
We discuss sleep, diet, activities of daily living, pain scales, family and friends, trying to have a social life, managing a household as a parent, adaptations, medications, discrimination and SO MUCH MORE. If you or someone you know and love has been diagnosed with this condition (or maybe are in the process that takes some upwards of ten years to get), then this is the episode for you. It is complex, subjective, dynamic, and limiting. Help us shine some light on this often misunderstood disorder and maybe bring a little more kindness to those who are coping with it. Knowledge is power and we are trying to be raw, open and honest to make this journey feel a little less lonely.
Please enjoy this special song contribution original, by Mita, during this episode. ♥

We dive into guided imagery meditation, CranioSacral Therapy, Somato-Emotional Release and Neurofeedback. There are a lot of coping strategy techniques and valuable information in this episode. More tools to add to your bag of tricks to try or investigate further. We are always seeking ways to feel better. Sometimes, it comes in neat, socially acceptable packages. Other times, it is weird and hokey and crazy sounding. Either way, if you find what works for you, does it really matter what it is called? This a personal choice to do what is best for YOUR body and soul.

dysFUNCTION jUNCTION 2
dysFUNCTION jUNCTION is a place to listen to behind-the-scenes bloopers, outtakes, and other Jen and Mita lunacy. Here you can find small(ish) segments of moments that did not make it to the podcast platform. We are not English majors... In fact, one of us is not from America (or even an English speaking country). We are human, we get tongue-tied, and one of us gets a little carried away with her chattiness. We mess up. Sometimes a little and sometimes a LOT. We always laugh our way through it, because that is how we choose to creatively cope with the nerves of having an international recording session about very real and very deep issues. Whether we are discussing the serious or the seriously ridiculous, we try to do so with a smile. And hopefully you will have some fun in our mistakes. Here, we put the FUN in dysFUNCTION jUNCTION. Enjoy!
In this dysFUNCTION jUNCTION, Mita looses her shit before we even begin. She drops F bombs like a truck driver and people think she is the "proper" one. We touch on headphone debacles and how Jen's tender fontanelle cranium place is not used to these Beats and their metal hardware. "Jen-etics" may play a role in her big dome, "jen-stractions" are used when people need diversions to real life craziness, and all sorts of laughter ensues. Have a chuckle at our expense. We don't mind.

In this episode, we discuss our personal experiences with Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Acupressure and Chiropractic Medicine. We get into all the scientific backgrounds and the varieties each method targets for treatment. Join us as we learn what the difference is between complementary and alternative medicine, how piriformis syndrome is literally a pain in the ass and how we lovingly compare Chiropractors to Targets. Social Media: Pros and Cons as a Coping Strategy. Creative Copes Season 1, Episode 9
Moderation is key. Reduce the time you are online, stay present in social situations, unfollow accounts that cause negative feelings, limit notifications and maintain life outside of the electronic devices. Humans are social creatures. Please try to do some of that socializing in person.

miniSODE 3 - Flight, fight, dynamite
What do I do when I have to test my mic before a recording? Read a blog about being backed over by a car, of course. This was written by me a while back. Being that we just did an two part episode regarding anxiety and panic, I thought I would share some of my mindless creative writing with you. My brain is a funny thing. So, if you want to hear me break down a scenario in typical Jen fashion, tune in now. And if you want to read the blog entry, head over to https://creativecopes.wixsite.com/podcast/wisdomwalks. Let's Go Further Into the Anxiety Abyss... Creative Copes, Season 1, Episode 8
We touch on anticipatory anxiety, specific phobias and each of our struggles with the invisible monster. We share some intimate details of life that are definitely not easy to openly admit. The vulnerability game is high in this episode. We hope that you can recognize that you are NOT alone, that we all suffer differently (but there is no one "right" way to struggle), and we all recover at our own pace. Be gentle with yourself. It's rough enough out there as it is.

dYSFUNCTION jUNCTION 1
dYSFUNCTION jUNCTION 1 - Mita is trying to seduce Jen with her post exertional malaise heavy breathing and sighing. Jen does not even notice, because she is not used to people flirting with her (Hello, Agoraphobia!!) and is oblivious to compliments, anyway. Moving along, we try not to get TOO dark as we explore the dark side of Dora the Explorer (Do NOT get mad when you have this earworm in your brain for the rest of the night). It's not like we will ruin your life. . And there you have it...

Deep Dive into Anxiety, Panic and Agoraphobia: Creative Copes Season 1, Episode 7
This is a heavier episode, one filled with personal stories, rather than ways to cope with things. We share our symptoms, feelings and life experiences. Please remember that we are human beings (with lots of mushy, heartfelt feelings) on the other side of our voices and podcast. Be gentle as we open up and share to help #endthestigma against these disorders.

Cinderella Chores and Dust Bunnies - miniSODE 2.
Write It Down... It's Cheaper Than Therapy With Less Side Effects. Expressive Writing/Poetry: Creative Copes Season 1, Episode 3
Convert to Music - It's My F&*%ing Religion - Creative Copes : Episode 2
Nice one, Bob. But sometimes music punches you, like a heavyweight fighter, right in the heartstrings. Sometimes it soothes the soul, amps you up or mellows you out. It may not cause physical pain (unless someone hits you with a $16 million dollar violin right in the baby maker), but it definitely does some interesting stuff to the noggin once it hits that auditory canal.
In this episode, we discuss the science behind the various ways music affects the brain, reduces anxiety, improves mood, allows for better sleep, reduces shortness of breath (in singing), helps build confidence and self esteem, improves posture, increases breath capacity, boosts immune response and it's kind of a great time. We laugh at our "singing high" and how it is so similar, yet so different, than the widely accepted and often bragged about runner's high. Those diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Long Covid, and autism patients can reap so many benefits and in some cultures, music is actually embraced and used as a therapy that is recognized by doctors. Wouldn't it be nice if our insurance companies in the US felt that some alternative medicine practices would be beneficial and covered as a viable medical therapy? We speak of how music brought us together as friends, like some real We Are the World shit that could only be understood if you partake in singing on the karaoke app that shall (maybe forever) remain nameless.
And finally, how to some people, music is like a religion. Like us. So get your ass to music church and boogie down. Learn some fun Creative Copes to battle the daily stressors, the deeper invisible illnesses or to just have fun. Enjoy the episode. Love and Light ♥

Afterthought Addendum miniSODE 1
Did you ever feel like a “Debbie Downer” by mentioning your chronic illness? Does the thought of posting an “against the grain”post about what life is REALLY like with an invisible malady make you cringe? Are you afraid people won’t like you as much if you show your true colors? We have, it does and yes. We are YOU. We just allow our vulnerability to show to shed light on the positives and negatives of being open and honest with your feelings.
In this miniSODE, Mita discusses how she can post an occasional update on social media about her chronic conditions and people barely acknowledge it. Fast forward to a perceived good day of a filtered portrait and some upbeat quote and the likes flow like water. Why is this? Are we THAT afraid of acknowledging our loved ones, sometimes with incurable conditions, like we may catch it?
Kindness goes a long way. “Only with empathy is how these taboo topics can become mainstream and end the stigmas surrounding them; start hearing what is said, rather than listen to reply”. -Mita
Listen in to a quick addendum after thought. It makes so much sense of you can allow yourself and others grace. Love and Light ♥
Introduction Jen & Mita - Who do we think we are?
- Who is Jen? Who is Mita? Who do we think we are and what makes us think we should start a podcast? In this episode, we introduce ourselves. Silliness and belly laughter ensues as we ponder how to end the stigma of chronic and mental illness. In future episodes, we hope to explore creative coping strategies where we step outside of our survival mode and into the world of the living. Love and Light ♥
