In this first episode of the Dudetrek podcast, I tell the story of Moab, Utah in 2 parts. The first part covers a very brief history of Moab leading up to what's going on there today. I tell the story of how I discovered Moab and how I got sucked into its vortex a few years later, and I take some time to reflect on what has changed since then, both for the town, and for myself, to give context for how my time in Moab inspired the concept behind this podcast and my adventure at large. The second part will feature a compilation of dozens of interviews I conducted in moab where I asked people in town some pretty fundamental and universal questions about what they need and what they think the community and the local ecosystem needs. Their stories and answers uncover some common themes, and provide insight into what the present state of affairs in Moab is, and what the future may hold. It serves as a useful baseline for how all the people in a community, locals or otherwise, relate to that community and the ecosystem it is a part of, not only for the residents and tourists of Moab, but for all of us. With every new set of interviews with people from a wide variety of different ecosystems and communities, I'll find new perspectives on established themes, and find new themes unique to each place.
