Ep. 45: Toxic Relationship Cycles & Trauma + Attachment Wounds

Have you struggled with romantic relationships? Maybe the partners you pick, the same challenges that show up, or even something you keep coming back to, though you know you shouldn’t? You’re not alone! In this episode, we are talking about toxic relationship patterns that can arise from trauma & attachment issues in childhood. Taelor spills some of the (sometimes embarrassing) details of her own romantic history, including a 12-year “on the hook” type of unhealthy connection that was in & out of her life pretty much for her teen & adolescence. What changed? Attachment healing. You won’t want to miss this one! Ep. 32: Normalized Abuse: Breaking Free & Overcoming, w/ Ishtar Abdul

Ep. 32: Normalized Abuse: Breaking Free & Overcoming, w/ Ishtar Abdul

What do you do when you are experiencing abuse but also being told it’s not bad and it’s your fault? Well, that’s what we dive into in this episode through our guest’s story of breaking free from everything that held her back and was harming her. And let me tell you, it’s incredible (as is she!) Our guest’s name is Ishtar Abdul, and also goes by zahraa. She is an actress, student, and also a mom of two boys. She is an advocate & survivor who is sharing and writing her story which she entitles “if the volcano speaks”. Her motivation to share is that she used to be silent and hide the truth and doesn’t want to do that anymore. Her story that she is writing is mainly about the physical abuse that she suffered from. She aspires to represent many women and hopefully will inspire others to be themselves and speak up when they get hurt. Her main message is for women to keep pushing through the hard things, and remind them to never give up. You can connect with her on Instagram at www.instagram.com/ishtar_lioness10 and get more updates on her upcoming story. Ep. 6: Allowing & Sitting in the $h!t w/ Emily Stearman

Ep. 6: Allowing & Sitting in the $h!t w/ Emily Stearman

Ever had “one of those days”..? Us, too! 😖 🥵 Join as our guest, Emily Stearman, shares about the importance of allowing & not always doing for the sake of healing & Overcoming. We can do, & we can be, and both are important. There is this heavy narrative in healing communities of do this, use this tool, use your energy here, you can push through, you’re strong, etc. But we CHALLENGE THAT NARRATIVE & offer another- that simply resting & listening to what you need is one of the most powerful self-regulation or growth tools there is. Emily is a motivational speaker, has background in Marriage & Family Studies, and is a total gem to laugh along with & also feel seen, wholly. Connect with her at https://www.Instagram.com/helloemilystearman & follow along with the show on https://www.Instagram.com/soswithdrtaelor Bonus Emily Storytime :) When Emily was little, she desperately wanted to be a singer/volcanologist combo. The park ranger she told that to on a fifth-grade field trip laughed at her and said "Good luck." Emily's life is not one of inspiring odd-beating. She is, in fact, not a singing volcanologist. But what she'd like to tell that park ranger is that she's happier talking about shame than she ever could have been as a singing volcanologist. Emily has been speaking to audiences for over a decade and began her podcast Speaking to Shame to reach even more people. She has a degree in Marriage and Family Studies, with a clinical emphasis, and reads research on relationships for fun. Emily is a human holding it together with heaps of grace and snacks she doesn't share with her two children. She and her husband can be found dancing in the kitchen, parenting together, cooking dinner, or going on the hikes she pretends to like because she wants her husband to feel loved. Emily is passionate about mental health, is a trauma and abuse survivor, and a Shame Slayer. She also loathes crunchy peanut butter. She lives in Idaho with her best friend Nathan, their kids, and a sad hole in her heart that a dog will someday (hopefully) take up.
