We are headteachers Janet Hayward, of Cadoxton and Oakfield primary schools in Barry, and Huw Powell, of Mary Immaculate High School in Wenvoe, and in this podcast we will discuss issues facing schools in Wales.
We will cover a broad agenda, focusing on what school leaders, teachers, pupils, parents and our communities want to know. We will also hear from a variety of special guests.

Episode 5: Pupil deprivation and the attainment gap, with Sir Alasdair Macdonald
In this episode Janet and Huw are joined by special guest Sir Alasdair Macdonald to discuss pupil deprivation and the attainment gap. Sir Alasdair was Headteacher of Morpeth School in Tower Hamlets for 21 years. During that period, attainment at the school rose significantly and OFSTED inspections twice rated Morpeth as Outstanding. Sir Alasdair currently advises the Welsh Government on raising attainment.
