James McLeod is a writer, author and former journalist. For nearly a decade he covered politics and government in Newfoundland and Labrador at the St. John’s Telegram, with a focus on access to information and investigative journalism. After leaving NL, McLeod worked at The Financial Post as a business journalist, covering technology and innovation, including a significant focus on data and privacy regulation. Since 2020, McLeod has been working as manager of content and communications for the Council of Canadian Innovators, while still pursuing personal writing as a side project. His most recent essay is “Google Search: the utopian idea that is destroying the fabric of society”
