Whether in the classroom or on the canvas, asking questions of yourself can allow you to rethink or approach the work differently—sometimes even allowing for a new & wonderful creative outlet to take place.

This week Nick & Joy discuss woodcarving and the ability to reset within tactile creative spaces. We are making spoons and bowls and learning more about woodworking, which has been a lot of fun as we continue to create new things. 

This week Nick & Joy discuss returning to school after spring break (memory) and deal with some interruptions from our kids (coughs curtesy of our 5 year old). We also discuss the upcoming Moon Knight series from Marvel and how that may fit into the larger MCU as well as how it may handle some conversations around mental health.

On this week's episode, Nick & Joy take a look back at the original Jurassic Park Trilogy. They discuss dinosaur special effects, the return of characters, plot devices, and how their kids reacted while watching the films for the very first time.

In this episode, we reintroduce ourselves, the purpose of this podcast, and fill in some details about what has been going on for the last few months since we hit pause on making new episodes. Nick also goes on two tangents regarding fan petitions for movies and towards the end about emails with people. It's a whole thing. 

This week Nick & Joy look back on the last year and how things they thought would work for their schedules failed. Not only that, but how to reproach creating healthy boundaries with work and personal time, creative projects, or just life in general. It's March again, again?

Ever feel like a season of your favorite show hits big up top or finishes real strong, but the rest is a little lackluster? Writing for TV (or anything) is difficult, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. But that doesn't mean that each season or each episode is a standout hit. This week Nick and Joy discuss the joys of TV filler episodes, what they notice from watching their favorite shows, and how Nick approaches his own storytelling methods. 

This week Joy and Nick spend sometime looking at three different folktales. They talk a little about how they originated, but mostly how they could be improved in a reimagining. It gets weird and silly. Beauty & the Beast, The Pied Piper, and Thumbelina all make special guest appearances.

Life is full of disruptions. A disruptions is usually something we are not looking forward to, but what if we embraced disruptions as a way to shake up our regular routine and bring a spark of creative energy into our lives. How can we use disruptions as a healthy way to engage in creativity?

This week, Nick & Joy talk about the process of finishing a project, writing, editing, and how completing a project allows for you to see the possibilities for future work. We also talk about looking back on old work as a way of learning and growing in our creative process. 

This week's episode, Nick & Joy talk about art and injustice. Art has often been a way for truth to be spoken. We talk about the books, films, tv shows, and podcasts we've been taking in to be anti-racist. There is always work to be done. We can continue to learn and be educated by those far more equipped to teach us. But we cannot stay silent, and we cannot sit idly by as people suffer. We are not experts. Honestly, we are not even close to amateurs on the subject, but if we can encourage even one person to take the time to self-examine, and do the work, then so be it.
