108: Love Always, Gratitude w/ Tessa Haldes, A Faithful Friend

108: Love Always, Gratitude w/ Tessa Haldes, A Faithful Friend

Being grateful is a state of mind that shouldn’t only happen on Thanksgiving. It’s something that should be a constant reminder of how far we’ve come, who has helped us on the journey, and where we’re going. In this episode, our good friend Tessa Haldes joins the conversation on what it means to show gratitude during a transition season. Having graduated from college and worked in a few jobs, Tessa decides that she will pursue graduate school to ultimately reach the goals she has set out for herself. But, what happens in between those decisions? Do you move in with your parents? What about self worth? How do your life’s perspective change in the process? Sacha and Jasmine know all too well the struggle of being thankful while in a transition season, and speaking with Tessa only widened the spectrum of experiences to touch on. Tune in to join the conversation and share your own moments of finding gratitude with us as well!! Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram at @1159ygtpodcast ! Be blessed #TransitionTribe 👊🏾 We love you.

107: Don’t Play Yourself - Comparison vs. Motivation W/Trap Cellist Yanna Cello

107: Don’t Play Yourself - Comparison vs. Motivation W/Trap Cellist Yanna Cello

Trap Cello? Two words you'd never expect to live side by side, but classically trained and culturally aware musician "Yanna Cello" effortlessly intertwines them in her daily life. Former University of Illinois Champaign Urbana alum has found a way insert her own hip hop culture into the tradition of the string instrument she's loved since she was a little girl. In this episode, Ayana opens up about her battle with training and retraining herself, important techniques and competing for paid gigs against musicians with "traditional" playing styles. She also expresses her usage of social media and how removing the mindset of comparison allowed her to courageously display her talents online, allowing for increased support and the notoriety and platform that she has today, playing on Television shows, receiving features in newspapers and magazines & even playing for celebrities! Tune in for a great episode and keep up with Yanna Cello @Yannacello ! Follow Us at @1159ygtpodcast @Mizz_jazz and @Kenyattesacha.

106: Entrepreneurship - Level Up to Become Your Own Boss W/Dante Jones

What happens when you finally master your side hustle and want to profit from it? You do exactly what our guest Dante Jones did and boss up your strengths. As a former Division I Football athlete turned business man and entrepreneur, Dante found a way to keep his love for fitness and athletics by monetizing it as part of his daily life. After quickly realizing that selling life insurance and driving Uber wasn't something he wanted to pursue for the rest of his life, he decided to use the skills he acquired during those times for a greater purpose. That's when he and business partner Elliot founded the fitness gym "TrapFit," throwing a modern day hip hop spin on the average workout routine. This episode focuses on everything from loans and starting fees, balancing life outside of your business, and the importance of having a business partner. The gym, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is beginning to make its mark on the industry with its growing fan base and clientele. Aside from running the gym, Dante also works as a freelance photographer and videographer. Sign up for his gym in NC or book him soon, because he truly knows how to leverage turning his strengths to service people 💪🏾! Follow his journey @Thedantejones @dantejonesphoto and @Trapfitraleigh.
