Darren Campbell Podcast

The Olympic gold medalist discusses all of the the highs and lows of his life on the release of his biography, Track Record: Darren Campbell.

In this captivating podcast, the very likable Campbell talks openly about what he has achieved during his sprinting and business career. Olympic and European golds, coaching rugby and football stars like Johna Lomu and Andre Shevchenko how to sprint and how he nearly represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games.

On the flip side, life hasn't been plain sailing for the Moss Side boy. Being a part of a gang in Manchester and the murder of a friend motivated his move to South Wales. Suffering from depression following a car crash early in his career and a near death experience in 2018 have all been battles he has overcome.

Moving to outskirts of Newport to train with Colin Jackson and Linford Christie may have saved his life but also his athletics career.... which easily could have been a footballing one!

So much mores is discussed in this podcast and Darren's book... his life could easily be turned into a film!

He's now enjoy life in Dublin and coaches Bective Rangers.... but he has no desire to return to top flight coaching.

Jackman is certainly one that will be joining our rugby hospitality event in the future. The former Irish international player still has his finger on the pulse and has the inside track on so many things.

The former WWE Wrestler and ITV Gladiator joins Owain Gwynedd from his home in Las Vegas to discuss his exciting and varied career.

Now performing as the Chief Archer in Cirque Soleil, KA production in Vegas, Barri Griffiths, better known as Mason Ryan in wrestling circles, had 4 year spell as a Superstar with the WWE.

He looks back at the time he made his debut on ‘Monday Night RAW’ with CM Punk and the New Nexus and how he then got invited to John Cena’s tour bus for a few too many drinks.   He also recalls when he met his doppelgänger Dave Bautista and even Ray Mysterio was confused.Mason Ryan had some memorable bouts on ‘pay per view’ Survivor Series and Royal Ruble with Booker T. Ash Dykes, Explorer & Adventurer Podcast

Ash Dykes, Explorer & Adventurer Podcast

Ash Dykes is an explorer, extreme athlete, motivational speaker and three x World First Record Holder.

Owain Gwynedd chats to the Welshmen about his amazing career in this podcast for 218 Events.   Ash recently head-lined global news by becoming the first person to hike the entire length of the Yangtze River in China. A 4,000-mile journey that took him 352 days to complete, he faced bears, altitude, wolves, landslides, blizzards and had to send 10 of the 16 team members (that joined him for short stints at different locations) home, due to altitude sickness, fear of wildlife and/or injury.

In 2014, Ash became the first ever recorded person to hike across Mongolia solo and unsupported, covering over 1,500 miles in 78 days. He trekked over the Altai Mountains, through the Gobi Desert and the Mongolian Steppe, all whilst pulling a wheeled trailer weighing 120kg, carrying everything needed to survive. Sir Ranulph Fiennes described it as being “an example of great determination, to achieve something that’s becoming harder all the time, an adventuring ‘first’, which would have proved both physically and mentally challenging”.

In 2016, Ash achieved his second world record by becoming the first person to walk the entire length of Madagascar’s interior, whilst summiting its eight highest Mountains. An expedition of over 1,600 miles, taking 155 days to complete and faced many challenges, from being held up by the military, avoiding bandits, contracting the deadliest form of Malaria, crossing croc infested rivers, hacking through near impenetrable jungle during the cyclone season and much more.  Ash has done all this before he's 30.

Owain Gwynedd is a TV presenter with S4C and Premier Sports and a Director of 218 Events.
