Having an Online Presence, with Guest Rebekah
Rebekah is a soon-to-be LMT in New York who has created a community of followers primarily on TikTok through her videos following her through Massage College. She originally set out to be a Phyical Therapist but decided to take the path of Massage Therapy instead. She noticed that the perception of Massage Therapy online, in her own circle, and through the public’s eyes was not what she wanted to portray. Her TikToks educate people on what massage is, what the education and clinicals are really like, and what to expect when you see a therapist. We talked about the positives that have come from her social media, the hate, keeping yourself safe, privacy concerns, and what her goals are. Follow Rebekah @healedbyparis on all social platforms.
Surprise! You Need Surgery
We did a recording from our basement this week after a wild week that all started at the gym. This is Amanda’s story from finding out that she has endometriosis four months ago, to being told it’s stage four and you will need surgery right now. I’m sharing this because it is still mind blowing how fast this all happened, what signs I saw, what signs I ignored, and just what the human body is capable of. Listen to my story as I recover from surgery and begin a new journey with aggressive endometriosis.
Career Evolution, with guest Cindy
Career evolution is a dynamic and ongoing process that varies for each individual based on their aspirations, experiences, and circumstances. Adaptability, resilience, and a willingness to embrace change are essential traits for navigating these complexities. Check out this sit down we had with Cindy. Cindy flipped her career from Banking IT to Massage Therapy. Although still pretty new in the massage world, she has done and is planning on doing some pretty cool things. Listen in a we rap about her move away from a high paying secure job to her decision to enroll in a massage therapy program, how COVID was a catalyst for her work as part of the Canadian Massage Conference team, moving her treatments from the table to the floor, motorcycles, different philosophies behind goal setting, and her secret 3 year plan… We love a cool conversation the blooms from an episode with no real plan.

Liane is the organizer of the Massage Championships here in Canada and wanted to speak to Canadian therapists and educate them on what this event is truly about. Conversations with Clients, with guest Agyness
Agyness is a client and a hair stylist that is on the verge of taking the leap to open her own salon. Listen to a discussion about opening up a business and what needs to happen to get the ball rolling.
A Whole Lotta Shop Talk, with Guest Sandy

When he was first on the couch we talked about his unique style of treating, he returned to talk about a new way of assessing which levelled up his practice working primarily with golfers, and this time he’s back and working in education and giving back to the profession he’s been a part of for almost 3 decades. We talked about massage curriculum, techniques, debates about the evidence behind massage therapy education, how to be a better public speaker and teacher, and preparing students to be great clinicians. Check out an episode with a whole lotta shop talk! 2rmtsandamic.com
Male Massage Therapist Success Network, with guest Ryan
Ryan is a mobile massage therapist who lives with his family on a farm north of the city. Like many others in our profession, he got into the manual therapy world after being a patient himself and going through his own rehabilitation process. He wanted to combine manual therapy with his personal training experience to help people dealing with pain or injury to get back to living. At the same time he needed to make sure he was supporting his family. He recently started a Facebook group called Male Massage Therapist Success Network for men in our profession to share ideas and help each other to do well in their career. Listen to us talk about what male therapists may face at certain jobs in terms of clients feeling uncomfortable being treated by men and some ideas of how to diminish these issues.
The Trauma-Sensitive Therapist, with guest Jen
Jen hung out on our couch years ago to talk to us about having a trauma informed practice and what that means. At the time she was working at a clinic that didn’t necessarily allow her to fully practice in the way she wanted to. Fast forward to 2024 and Jen is back. She has taken the leap and is now running her own practice where she can allow her patients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and any sort of trauma or mental health issues to have a place to feel safe and to get the therapy they need. Jen came to fill us in with how her life, education, career, and mindset have changed over the years and how this has helped shape her new practice.
Levelling Up…An Update From a Clinic Owner, with guest Chris
Chris is a Massage Therapist and Clinic owner who talked to us virtually during lockdown about the struggles of clinic owners during that time. He came by in person to sit on our couch and tell us about how his clinic has changed, the stuff he’s been doing to better his own practice and improve his skills for his clients, and of course some good stories and shop talk. Listen to some of Chris’ thoughts on business, continuing education, being a male therapist, and what he would do if he won the lottery.
A Life Changing Diagnosis, with guest Alison

She’s a force this woman and we were super excited to have her come by for a visit and tell us her story. Listen to a very real and honest conversation about Alison’s journey.
A Lot of Real Talk…a Rap About Life, with guest Sue
Sue was a guest on our podcast way back when we first started and we have watched her go through numerous career shifts which included going inactive as a RMT. She is planning a possible comeback to practice and I’m sure many people would be excited to get her hands in their fascia again! Sue says she is not the same person we interviewed in 2018 so we invited her to give us an update on her life and wow. This turned into an emotional chat about life, death, grief, change, evolution, and all the things. Come on a journey with 3 RMT friends catching up.

Growing the Casino Massage Business, with guests Kelley and Coby
Kelley was on our podcast last year with her colleague Holly, teaching us about the world of Casino Massage. Many of us would have never considered a casino to be a viable option to work as a Massage Therapist but they showed us how safe, lucrative, and valid of an option it really can be. Coby and Kelley met when Coby was a poker dealer and the two of them formed both a personal and professional relationship and we had them come back to talk about the growth of their company, Winning Hands LLC. What started as an idea to develop an app to sell, shifted into a casino massage company. They are right in the thick of the entrepreneur hustle and we love to get the inside scoop about their next steps, the business growth, setbacks, and their exit strategy. Taking the Unconventional Road, with guest Simone
We met Simone through the conference circuit. She is the founder of the Fascia Training Institute and teaches courses to massage therapists and other body workers about fascia and concussion recovery. Her path to get here was definitely unconventional. She entered a physical therapy program in the US, and is certified in concussion management. She studied science, worked with mentors, took courses in all types of therapy and body work, and learned to connect the dots to help her better understand her own body, injuries, and recovery. Through her extensive research and education, she has developed courses that she feels can help manual therapists have more tools to better their practice. Many of you may read the title of this episode and think “ugh…not for me!” and you are exactly who we are speaking to in this episode. As someone who understands how tough digital marketing can be, she has launched two new digital products to help RMTs create a cohesive online presence like she has done. 2SLGBTQIA+ Education, with guest Keeley
Keeley is a RMT in Ontario and also identifies as non-binary. They have had experiences that made them realize that all people could benefit from receiving education about understanding commonly known and less commonly know sexual orientations as well as commonly and less commonly known gender identities. Their courses provide definitions and insight into the diversity that exists within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and how those of us working in healthcare can be sure we are being respectful and inclusive. Listen to Keeley talk about their upbringing and how they have come to a point in their career where they want to help people better understand other people and we are here for it. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
2 RMTs and an Illusionist
Ken was brought to our couch by one of our regular guests, Nicki, because she said he’s got some stories and would make an interesting guest. She was right and Ken did not disappoint. He is an illusionist who holds a very interesting (and terrifying) world record. He taught us what a card mechanic is, showed us some close up magic, and told us the story about when he almost lost everything. Last year, Ken was diagnosed with a very rare type of Guillain Barré Syndrome called Miller Fisher Syndrome, and he thought his career and possibly his life, was over. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Being a Male Massage Therapist, with guest Devin
Devin and his wife decided to go back to school and become Massage Therapists together. After working at some chain spas, Devin thought he would be more successful if he and his wife had their own business. What he’s noticing now is that clients seem to prefer to book with his wife and he’s wondering how to get busy as a male therapist in the south. We invited him to brainstorm some ideas with us so he can build up a solid practice and be as busy as the female therapists in his town. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com

The Nicki Show! with guest Nicki
Back by popular demand…it’s Nicki! We usually invite Nicki in after her travels to talk about her latest adventure and of course to share some of her unpopular (but actually popular) opinions. Well we did none of that. She hung out on the couch and we talked about life, and hard work, the state of the world, and whatever came to mind. It’s always a pleasure to have Nicki hanging out and sharing her thoughts. She also announced officially that her popular webinar is now a work at your own pace online course! Learning More About Massage Therapy Education, with guest Marvin
Marvin sent a very helpful email after our episode “When the Teachers Can’t Teach” explaining the dynamics at a community college and how the program set-up, the collective agreement between the administration and the union, and the program quality reviews work to ensue that how the program operates is in the best interest of the students learning. Listen to an educator with over 2 decades of experience working in a college talk a little more in depth about Massage Therapy education. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
When the Teachers Can’t Teach, with guest Ann
Ann was hired to supervise a student massage clinic at a college in her town. She was very excited about this opportunity because she loves to teach and is passionate about improving the quality of education for future therapists. She quickly realized gaps in the knowledge the students coming into clinic had and was happy to help them fine tune their skills. What happened next was not what she expected. Due to red tape and her official job title, Ann was eventually walked out of that job and she is not happy about it. Listen to our discussion about her experience and when office politics get in the way of student success. 2rmtsandamic.com | conedinstitute.com | massagetherapymedia.com
Live from the CMC Tradeshow with the Super Patch Crew, with guests Elsa and Kevin
Join us in the vendor hall at the Canadian Massage Conference where we grabbed one of the exhibitors, the Super Patch Company, to tell us about who they are, why they do what they do, and why we should care. Kevin has worked with high level athletes and he was so blown away when he was introduced to this technology that he had to bring it to his athletes. Elsa, on the other hand, works as a holistic practitioner, and she couldn’t believe the results she got with her own injuries. This unlikely pair is now on a mission to educate the public and manual therapists about another tool that can help to level up their health, wellbeing, and their clinical practices. Listen to learn about something cool live from the biggest Massage event in Canada!

For the Love of Learning, with guest Betty
Betty had a successful career in Real Estate, 4 grown children, and a wonderful life. As a former athlete, she had dealt with a lot of pain in her life and was a regular Massage Therapy patient. Once she found the right therapist for her, she became very interested in what he was doing and why while he was treating her. She would ask a lot of questions and eventually had the opportunity to work on him. That was the beginning. Betty decided to go to school for Massage Therapy later in life which is something she recommends for everyone. She loved learning, practiced for a bit, and ultimately went back to Real Estate. She regrets nothing. She still has a dream of one day opening a clinic where she can practice laser therapy as well which has been a modality that has really worked for her pain and for her former clients.
