Scott is a Cree 2 Spirit Eeyou from Waskaganish, Quebec; they have graciously decided to join us for a chat about what it means to be 2 Spirit and Queer, as well as their journey and mission as an Indigenous fashion designer. We also chat with Scott about what we can do as allies of our Indigenous communities–something we should all be paying attention to not only around Canada Day, but all year long. During Pride Month, it is so important to us to showcase all sorts of LGBTQIA+ voices! Inspired by MTV Canada's iconic TV show, 1 Girl 5 Gays, this week we've gathered some of our best Queer friends together to chat about love, life, and sex! No topics are off-limits… we talk about fetishes, queerbaiting, and bad sexual encounters!! We were both OBSESSED with 1G5G back when we were probably too young to be watching that programming, and it's so special for us to be able to use this podcast to give Queer people of all shapes and sizes a voice and platform! Though fun and entertaining, 1G5G is slightly problematic when it comes to representing the entire LGBTQIA+ community, so we're doing it the modern and inclusive way!

Happy Pride Month girls, gays, and theys! Although we're up in Canada and still pretty locked down, we're chatting all about Pride celebrations during the month of June! What we love about them, what we hate about them, and the problematic elements of Pride and it's lack of inclusivity when it comes to the entire LGBTQIA2+ community. Let's be honest, the Pride parade is mostly white gay muscular men on floats dancing to Lady Gaga. The community is ~obviously~ much more diverse than this, and we believe that Pride celebrations should expand to include all colours of the rainbow. Additionally, we share our experiences at our first Pride parade, as well as how we feel about corporations slapping rainbows on all of their merch for the month of June.

More importantly, we chat about the historical roots of Pride Month itself (love you Marsha). While we all want to have fun this Pride Month–which is totally valid–let's not forget where we came from and why Pride started in the first place. Pride Month will forever be a protest, baby!! So let's not become complacent and continue to fight for the rights of every member in the Queer community (especially the ones that need our voices and activism the most).

Big Brother Canada Season 9 was the most diverse season of any BB franchise globally, and has made history as having the first Black winner of Big Brother with Tychon Carter-Newman! Racers, start your engines because this week we're talking about RuPaul's Drag Race–the iconic and history-making drag competition. Since 2009, RPDR has acted as a launchpad for over 175 drag performers' careers. Through its heartwarming, hilarious, and sickening message, the show has become a staple of modern television and currently holds the records for the most Emmys won by a reality competition series (19, to be exact). However, not everything about Drag Race has been positive and uplifting. Controversy has surrounded the show on multiple occasions, mostly in regards to how the show represents a very narrow representation of drag and in the contestants' contracts. While history was made on Season 13 (with GottMik being the first trans man on the show), is the show evolving enough to keep up with the times? How can the show be more inclusive in the future?

Joining us this week to chat about these questions and her own experience on the show is legendary drag performer, Nina West! Yes girl you heard right, Nina freaking West is on our show! Nina West is an American drag queen, actor and singer/songwriter based in Columbus, Ohio played by Andrew Levitt who is the most Googled Drag Queen In The World from 2020-2021 with over 7.8 billion unique searches. She rose to national prominence in 2019 with her appearance on VH1’s Emmy winning show RuPaul's Drag Race Season 11, where she placed sixth and won Miss Congeniality. In 2021 she returned to the show and was anointed “America’s Sweetheart” by RuPaul herself. She made history at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards in Sept 2019 when she became the first ever person to walk the carpet in Full Drag, while her season won 5 Primetime Emmy Awards including best Reality Competition Show. On November 8th 2019, she released her first Christmas EP, "The West Christmas Ever" featuring Disney Legend Jim Cummings which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Comedy Charts. Her animated short "Coaster" was shortlisted for a 2020 Oscar. West has been performing in central Ohio and around the United States for the last 18 years, doing regional theater and of course, drag. As Nina West, she has produced over 35 main stage production shows. West writes/hosts/directs/performs in the annual sold out "Heels of Horror" show at Axis Nightclub. In 2008, she won the Entertainer of the Year award, and was included in Columbus Business First's "40 Under 40" list in 2018 and 2019. Nina is a LGBTQ advocate and has raised over $4million for charitable causes in the last decade alone, through her charitable foundation The Nina West Foundation.

CATEGORY IS... BALLROOM BABY. This week, we're bringing it to the runway with a conversation about ballroom culture. Recently, shows like FX's Pose and HBO Max's Legendary have brought ballroom to the mainstream. However, the roots of the scene go deep into Black Queer and Trans culture of the 1980's. Without ballroom, for example, we probably wouldn't have drag or many other cultural references that we have today.

We're also joined this week by the one and only London Escada! London competed on Season 1 of Legendary as the Mother of the Iconic House of Escada–who ended up coming in 3rd place on the show. We chat with London about how he got into ballroom, his favourite parts of a "function," and how he feels Legendary could have been more authentic to the culture of ballroom and what they can do as they enter future seasons. It was truly a ball, darlings!

We are joined by the beautiful and intelligent trans activist and former star of Vanderpump Rules, Billie Lee. Billie is here to talk about her journey with her gender identity and how she has encountered cis privilege while filming the hit Bravo reality series. In the Summer of 2020, Billie published a blog titled "Dear BravoTV" in which she called out the cis and white privilege of former co-stars Lisa Vanderpump and Stassi Schroeder–and she's here to discuss it all!

Billie is an avid activist for trans and POC communities and uses her platform to spread positivity and a call to action. She has many projects in the works, such as her vegan blog, She's So Vegan, and a recipe book and vegan challenge, So Very Vegan.
