In 1842 Joseph Smith, then Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (known as LDS or "Mormons") wrote a letter to the editor of the Chicago Democrat newspaper spelling out 13 "Articles of Faith" - a concise listing of thirteen fundamental doctrines of Mormonism.
The 12th article states, "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."
Today we talk about what we think that means.
