3 Chicks & A Stream

By 3 Chicks & A Stream

With Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, local actors, singers and entertainers could not provide entertainment to the local population like we had been doing. Instead of the audience coming to the show - the show had to come to the audience. Three Chicks & A Stage decided to use the tools of today to bring back some of the entertainment forms of yesterday and bring the show to our audience.

In this episode Susan Ptasinski-Tempel gives us a little theater history and stuff you should know about the theater.  If you know what's good for you you will listen up because she has friends in Chicago . . and  . .  well . . lets just leave it at that.  Susan is a great actress, teacher and all around good egg.  If she is ever in a 3 Chicks show you GOT to come see her.  She is just FABULOUS! Even if she did live in Chicago for a while.

A Logic Named Joe

A Logic Named Joe

Our first offering is a radio show comedy entitled “A Logic Named Joe”. It was written by Murray Leinster in 1946. It started as a short story that appeared in a number of magazines in the late 1940’s and then in the 1950’s it was adapted into a radio play and appeared on the “Dimension X” and “X Minus One”.  During that time period the show was a futuristic science fiction work that looked at what life would be like 30 years in the future.  Today it is a great example of a retro future sci-fi giving us a glimpse of what the world thought the future would look. Keep in mind this comedy was written almost 75 years ago.  Murray was pretty close to the mark on a number of things, just not in 30 years, but more like 70 years.  This production was recorded on May 15th, 2020 with actors on a video call joining from Effingham, Brownstown, Teutopolis, a dorm room in Bloomington and even from a car in a traffic jam near St. Louis!  We hope you enjoy the 3 Chicks and a Stream production of “A Logic Named Joe”
