In the first episode of 2023, Eric Wier and Alexander Winberg get together to chat about Warhammer +/ Warhammer TV. While they intended to watch and discuss the Angels of Death CGI series, Alex discovered that Warhammer TV is not available in Finland (at least at the time of the recording). Due to this, they instead watched an episode of the prequel series, Angels of Death Origins, because it was made available on YouTube.

We also talk about community creation and the peculiar kind of person who is attracted to all this strangeness. And of course, we round it all out with a good chat about folkhammer, where Warhammer meets folk horror and everyone is strange.

For our third episode, Eric Wier and Greg Wier talk about how their hobby time has recently been occupied by playing various board games, including an asymmetric wargame called Root, designed by Cole Wehrle and released by Leder Games. They talk about how they remain engaged in Games Workshop’s settings, but have slowly lost interest in playing the games associated with them. Their interest has turned towards more mechanically-tuned board games. They talk about how the board game Root builds a compelling narrative through its artwork and game mechanics, telling the story of anthropomorphic animals battling over control of a fantasy woodland. They also touch on the growing tournament scene and how you can get involved in the game via their digital versions, in addition to the physical board game.

For our second episode, Eric Wier and Alexander Winberg talk about what they have been working on in the hobby and touch on the upcoming 4th volume of 28. The main topic of the episode is discussing the 4th book in the Warhammer Adventures: Warped Galaxies series, War of the Orks. As a series of books targeting a younger audience (8-12 years old), we talk about how it fits alongside other Black Library novels and its place in the miniature wargaming hobby.
