Team Roam and Run Hurricane Hundred K Champion Interview

Team Roam and Run Hurricane Hundred K Champion Interview

Meet Team Roam and Run, a star-studded relay team from Huntington, West Virginia, which came to run and win the top spot for relay teams in the 2nd annual Hurricane Hundred K on September 9th, 2023.

The team members include Logan Kirby, Caleb Bowen, and Ryan Ramsby. Team Roam and Run discussed this family-friendly race event, focusing on the fun and relaxed atmosphere. The team also shared their experiences during the race, emphasizing the second loop, which Ryan described as a grind due to tired legs and the general nature of long-distance trail running. We gave young Logan some stellar advice, including smoking cigarettes to warm up his lungs before races and running as hard as possible.

We also dug into the recent Grindstone 100k and 100 miler and their experiences. If you are into this stuff and love the boys of Team Roam and Run, you will geek out on this long-form conversation.

Champions of Foster Care with Mission WV

May is National Foster Care Month and to celebrate, Episode 6 of 3880 features Kelly Thompson and Rachel Kinder of Mission WV. The show explores the current climate of Foster Care in West Virginia and provides information on ways to support the growing number of children in need of a home.

If you've ever considered foster care or adoption, now is the time to take some action! Over 7000 children in West Virginia and over 400,000 kids in the United States (source: adoptuskids.org) are in need of a home. Mission WV is a great place to start. If foster care isn't for you, you can still support by donating to a great organization making a difference in the lives of kids and families around the state.

Mission WV changes the lives of youth and families through promoting positive futures by recruiting foster families, providing life skills education, and creating community connections. They are active in supporting foster/adopt families from all over West Virginia and provide support and education programs to achieve their visions - to provide every child with a loving family and the knowledge to make positive choices for a healthier future.
