At the end of Saturdays Xfinity race we saw Richard Childress, Andy Petree and Austin Hill lash out at exiting RCR driver Sheldon Creed after a controversial finish between the two drivers ending the team's championship hopes. We breakdown the reactions and discuss all that was said and seen after the checkered flag on Saturday.

Also discussed is the upcoming Championship Weekend from Phoenix Raceway and my predictions on who walks away as Champions.

Throwback Feel at COTA

Throwback Feel at COTA

This weekend's races at COTA felt like a true throwback event as it was the 1st race since 2016 without stage breaks and we were treated to some big-name road course ringers. Zane Smith and AJ Allmendinger started off the weekend repeating from their wins last season, but it was Tyler Reddick who dominated Sunday and held off some tough competition and survived 3 OT restarts. This week we breakdown all 3 races as well as, Suarez showing his displeasure post-race, Sheldon Creed coming up short again, and a look ahead at this upcoming weekend's action at Richmond and Texas.

Atlanta Weekend Recap

Atlanta Weekend Recap

I got to experience firsthand racing from Atlanta Motor Speedway this past weekend. I took in the Xfinity and Truck series with some friends and I was not disappointed. Christian Eckes got a big first win with BMR and looks to be the guy to challenge Zane Smith for the title. Austin Hill took home another super speedway win in an impressive drive that was incredible to watch from the stands. On Sunday, Joey Logano beat his former teammate Brad Keselowski for the win but I want to focus on the turnaround of RFK Racing. We will also look ahead to the upcoming race weekend at COTA as we get ready for our first race with NO stage breaks.

A Highlight for the Ages

A Highlight for the Ages

After an exciting and controversial weekend at Martinsville we have plenty to discuss. We will dive into Ty Gibbs punting his teammate out of a chance for a championship and dive into his comments and how this was viewed by his peers. Then on Sunday we had Ross Chastain throw a Hail Mary to lock himself into the Final 4 and Christopher Bell came through with the clutch win again to go for his 1st championship. We will breakdown the Championship 4 for all 3 series and I give my picks for who will hoist up the trophy in each race.

What Lies Ahead

What Lies Ahead

It was a weekend of dominance for all 3 series as Majeski, Gragson, and Larson went to victory lane. We go over each race and take a good hard look at what lies ahead as this time next week we know who will be racing for a championship in all 3 series.

Time for Consistency

Time for Consistency

On this week's episode we change things up and discuss the Cup race on Sunday first as Joey Logano wins to put himself into the Championship Race at Phoenix. However, the main story of the race was Bubba Wallace sending Kyle Larson into the wall in what seems to be a poor choice of retaliation. I break down the incident and discuss what I believe the penalty should be, driver retaliation, and the poor excuse of using previous incidents as examples.
We also had a Xfinity race where Josh Berry put himself in the Xfinity Championship race. AJ Allmendinger finds himself in a hole after a loose wheel late, and I go over the challenges he faces in what I expect to be a JRM dominated round. With Homestead coming up this weekend it is going to be a crucial weekend of racing and we discuss the importance of each race and why the Truck series may no longer be a development series with Hailie Deegan's successful Xfinity debut.

Morale Issues?

Morale Issues?

After this week's races at the ROVAL 4 drivers were eliminated from the Xfinity and Cup Series playoffs. We are going to breakdown each race and what drivers were eliminated. We also discuss Erik Jones comments about Chase Briscoe after Briscoes late race run to keep his championship hopes alive.... with some help from teammate Cole Custer. We will also go over Chase Elliott vs the cameraman and the social media outcry and dive into what the problem may really be inside the Cup garage.

Tame Talladega

Tame Talladega

We finally got a tame race weekend where the talk was predominately about the race and not so much the car or safety. It didn't start that way though as Jordan Anderson had a scary fire inside his race truck and a scarier exit of his truck. We discuss what Jordan was dealing with and how this could be a learning experience for the driver and his competitors. Matt Dibenedetto got his 1st NASCAR win in controversial fashion as he seemed to be forced below the yellow line, yet no one was penalized. I go over the final few hundred yards and how hometown driver Brett Holmes came so close to a big 1st win himself. On Saturday, AJ Allmendinger got the win in the cleanest race of the weekend but, the main story to watch for is his possible full time Cup Series return. Chase Elliott won the 1st race for a playoff driver in this year's playoff after an exciting late race restart. Also discussed is Ryan Blaney's winless playoff run, penalties given to Ty Gibbs and William Byron, as well as a look ahead at this weekend's race at the ROVAL.

Texas Sized Problems

Texas Sized Problems

After a messy weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, we have a lot to unpack and mainly from Sunday's Cup race. We will go over Noah Gragson sweeping the month of September winning his 4th race in a row. But on Sunday we had drivers dealing with everything you can think of. From tire issues plaguing whoever the leader was to drivers making poor safety choices this race left a lot to be desired and discussed. We go over the Denny vs Byron incident and how it will probably cost Byron this week. Also, I discuss the Ty Dillon and Ty Gibbs incident on pit road that put crew members and officials at risk, and how NASCAR could really send a message to the young driver. I get on my soapbox for today's big topic: Safety and the NextGen car. Fans were in meltdown mode on social media calling for driver boycotts, not watching Talladega, and demanding action now. I give my take on why those fans need to pump the brakes and trust NASCAR but also if they are uncomfortable with viewing certain races then put those words to action. We also discuss more veteran drivers getting vocal, what NASCAR is really missing, and preview all 3 series in the upcoming weekend at Talladega.

Don't Light those Torches Yet

Don't Light those Torches Yet

The 3 night races at Bristol have been completed and we have plenty to go over. Ty Majeski scored his 1st career win at a key moment for his season, he now becomes the 1st driver to lock himself into the championship race at Phoenix. Also during the truck race, Stewart Friesen took advantage over John Hunter Nemechek's off night at Bristol and put himself in the final 4 with just 2 races left. On Friday Noah Gragson won his 6th race of the year but not before making contact with Ty Gibbs ending his night, and also collecting Sheldon Creed to finish his shot at a playoff spot. With that incident the rivalry I have been predicting seems to be reaching its boiling point. Saturday's cutoff race for the Cup series turned into another survival race for the playoff drivers. Several drivers ran into mechanical issues as well as tire problems. I discuss all the comments from Larson and Truex and why Harvicks words from just a few weeks ago are becoming more true. Chris Buescher got his 2nd career win snapping a long winless streak and putting RFK back in victory lane. Also, we discuss the Kyle Busch/Toyota saga with many fans claiming sabotage on Toyotas part but I give reasons why it's not time to light the torches just yet. Round 1 is complete and we still haven't had a playoff driver in victory lane. Will someone finally breakthrough and get the win at Texas and go into Talladega with a little less pressure than others? We break it all down on this episode of 3 Wide.

Labor Day Weekend Barn Burner

Labor Day Weekend Barn Burner

It was an epic wild weekend of racing for both series. We go over the exciting finish in the Xfinity Series with a battle between Creed, Larson, and Gragson where fenders were bent but feelings weren't hurt. With that finish it led me to think about whether there should be stricter restrictions about Cup drivers in the Xfinity series as they're battling it out with drivers looking for playoff spots and I share my thoughts on that matter. The Cup series race had everything as several playoff drivers struggled in the first race towards the championship. Also, Kevin Harvick had some honest words for NASCAR and their NextGen car after his car caught on fire for no apparent reason. I breakdown what playoff drivers struggled Sunday and where that leaves the playoff standings as we now have 2 races left before elimination. And of course, I go over the huge win by Erik Jones in the famed 43 car in a crown jewel event and why that win was no fluke, and why I think Petty GMS Racing will be the team to watch in 2024.

A Chaotic Weekend and I'm Not Talking About the Weather

A Chaotic Weekend and I'm Not Talking About the Weather

It was a truly chaotic weekend from the winners, officiating decisions, and all the crashes. We go over who survived this weekend and locked themselves in the playoffs. Kurt Busch pulled his waiver giving Martin Truex Jr. the final spot going into the race however it wasn't enough as Austin Dillon survived the melee into turn 1 on a wet track. We discuss what may have been going on in the NASCAR booth as well as the view from a friend who was at the race. Jeremy Clements survived his race as well and scored just his 2nd career victory locking himself in the playoffs and putting Cassill on the edge of missing it. I talk about NASCAR's decision to throw the caution at the end and if they were surrendering to the chaos that was the Xfinity race. With the Cup playoff field set I look over the 3 races in the Round of 16 and discuss why Austion Dillon is no driver to sleep on, and give a couple surprising picks on who I think will be eliminated.

Teammates Tangle Part II

Teammates Tangle Part II

Kyle Larson came away with a weekend sweep after some bad luck with one teammate on Saturday and contact with another on Sunday. We breakdown each race including Ty Gibbs move on William Byron, Kiki Raikkonen making his Cup debut, and the battle between Chase Eliot and Larson. I go over the success of Project 91 and what racing stars I would love to see crossover as well as where Raikkonen should race next. We also layout the upcoming Daytona weekend for the Cup series with drivers to watch and who has the advantage Truex or Blaney. Next weekends race is sure to be exciting and you won’t want to miss one second of discussion!

Let the Silly Season Begin!

Let the Silly Season Begin!

Even though we were one series short on action we were not short on breaking news and big wins. Christopher Bell comes through with a clutch win to put himself in the playoffs at the moment. We breakdown Christophers big day as well as the outlook at the rest of the regular season for the Cup series. While the playoffs are exciting and put emphasis on wins is crucial is it fair that it could cost two of the more consistent drivers a shot at the championship? Justin Allgaier continued his hot streak and came away with another victory in what was a much more entertaining race than I was planning on seeing. We go over all the top names taken out during the race and the drivers who stepped up and took advantage of it. With the Truck series regular season finale coming up who gets in Kraus or Crafton? I give my take on what the strategy should be for Kraus and his team. And silly season kicked off in a big way as Tyler Reddick took his name off the list as the top free agent for 2024 and scored a huge deal with 23XI racing. I go over that move as well as Ty Dillons future in the sport on this episode of 3 Wide.

Home Track Triumphs

Home Track Triumphs

This weekend we had racing coming from both Mid-Ohio as well as Atlanta Motor Speedway with popular wins across the board. Parker Kligerman kicked things off hanging on for his first win in 5 years. Then moving down south we had hometown drivers Austin Hill and Chase Elliott sending their fans home happy with a win. Ross Chastain continues to ruffle feathers of his fellow competitors as he was at the center of a multi-car crash as well as another run in with Denny Hamlin. On Saturday, we had a relatively calm Xfinity race as drivers broke apart in single file groups and Austin Hill was able to hang on as Daniel Hemric was the only driver to attempt a charge at him. We discuss how Austin has quietly been putting together quite a string of solid races as well as the driver who finished second to him. Parker Kligerman and Zane Smith put on an excellent battle for the win in the truck series, and we go over Parker cementing his case to be a full-time driver and how Zane showed young drivers can race with respect. With New Hampshire coming up can Aric Almirola reclaim some magic last year and head back to Victory Lane? Or can one driver translate recent Xfinity success into the Cup series? I also give an update on a new platform you can find this podcast as well as update our new YouTube channel!

Proving Your Worth

Proving Your Worth

It was a solid race weekend at Road America as Ty Gibbs went head-to-head against a Cup Champion and showed why he is the top up and coming driver in the sport. Tyler Reddick also solidified his spot in the Cup field by beating the best at road course racing and finally getting that 1st career win. There was plenty of drama Saturday to go over with a big wreck caused by Noah Gragson showing his displeasure to Sage Karam. We go over other storylines to watch such as:

  • The battle for a playoff spot in the Cup series kicking up a notch.
  • Sheldon Creeds continued bad breaks
  • Will anyone be able to pull the upset in the Truck series?

All these topics are discussed and more on this episode of 3 Wide!

Officially Media

Officially Media

After a week off I am back and better than ever! I go over my first race as a media member from the SRX race at Five Flags Speedway. We had action from all 3 series this past weekend and there is plenty to discuss. It was a dominating weekend for drivers like Ryan Preece and Justin Allgaier, however Sundays race was more marathon than sprint. Between two rain delays the complexion of the Cup race changed as JGR went from dominating to trying to catch eventual winner Chase Elliott. Silly season has officially kicked off as two drivers locked up their 2023 plans and a prominent Xfinity team could be making the jump to Cup in the near future. All this is discussed and more on 3 Wide.
