In this episode, Jerrell speaks with singer-songwriter and frontman guitarist Sean Howe from the band Geanies.
Howe has the colossal sound and technical delivery of a player well beyond his years. He’s joined on the record by Eliot Lorango on bass and Ethan Maxwell on drums, making this a band to contend with. Howe found music at age seven while innocently listening to a band in an after-school program. He started noodling with his father's guitars and quickly mastered the basics. Sean's mother shared her love for chordal harmonies with him. They are releasing their debut EP, Can't See The Sun, on July 14th via Mule Kick Records
Episode 97: Marcus Machado
In this episode Jerrell speaks with professional guitarist Marcus Machado. Machado has played with a wide range of artists, from Robert Glasper and the Weather Report’s Victor Bailey to Anderson. Paak and Pete Rock, is a member of the “soul hop” supergroup DMD the Vibes alongside drum phenom Daru Jones (Jack White, Talib Kweli) and Living Color bassist Doug Wimbish, and provides the slamming electric guitar riffs and screaming solos in the hip-hop/hard rock project th1rt3en, headed by rapper Pharoahe Monch. Marcus shares how he grew up from listening to his musical influences, to being one of the most sought-after guitarists in the industry.

He was a featured artist on over thirty albums, and composed “If You Dare,” a funk-rock song on Lenny White's 2010 Anomaly CD. Lea knows the blues. She grew up in a troubled household where she witnessed drugs, violence, and criminal mayhem. Her mother was murdered when Lea was only eleven, and her early years found her dealing with physical and emotional abuse. As a result, she’s given voice to her troubled, tumultuous past and reasserted herself with a record that reflects both her talent and tenacity.
Blood Cash boasts seven original songs that Lea co-wrote with collaborator and guitarist Travis Cruse, aided and abetted by veteran musicians Myron Dove on bass, drummer Deszon Claiborne, and keyboardist Eamonn Flynn. The album was mixed by John Porter (Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Keb Mo, Bryan Ferry).

Music has truly been running through his family for generations; such as his great uncle Willie Eason, the creator of the “Sacred Steel Tradition,” and his grandfather Henry Nelson, the founder of the “Sacred Steel” rhythmic guitar style. This style is played by many names today, such as Robert Randolph, The Campbell Brothers, and more.
