Overlanding from home

What a great time chatting. 12 years is no joke and they've got it down to a "T".  Hilarious random ending and well planned layout how to live simplistically yet super happy withy the right choices. The photography paints a very accurate picture how happy they are and we never got to chat about all sorts sorts of stuff. I think we can all take lessons how a family of 5 lives off a Dometic 75L camping fridge.  I hope you enjoyed listening to this and hopefully another one on how school work is done, vehicle maintenance and juggling van chores coupled with parenting.

This was a learning curve how to live without clutter. Do we really need it - is the question?

Martijn has really captured overlanding in it's amazing simplest form by giving back for his keep. Nearly lost his vehicle because of the hand break but listen to the story and figure out how you can do the same thing. They've already written two travel books which are informative, supportive and shows what you can expect if you follow their routes. No plans just guidelines. This chat dropped my jaw a little. A real Russian that changed his vehicle so much he fitted Tractor tyres. removes snakes and frogs from his vehicle when getting bogged. Russian mapping is great and he uses a proper system to get it done and make sure they know what they're able to do.

Yet another informative chat with Paul. Today we challenge in hard copy vs electronic maps. The difference between the options each app brings from Google maps, tracks4africa, maps.me and all the others. Then we touch base on vehicles Paul owned and what brings them to life, Lastly I find out he's building a 80 series and using his knowledge from previous builds and suppliers from when he loved lived in the UK. 

This is a great young story. I say that because they set out with little and got maximum out of it. Paper maps, didn't know how to overland and got stuck in Congo for over 60 days due to the virus. One of the best connections in Africa is architecture and photography - Africa is wide open for that and they're experiencing that. Listen, follow and enjoy watching there story unfold

Welcome to the first Podcast from Latin America. Meet Elias a well travelled, easy going, travels with his Boston terrier Kiwi and Coco type of guy. I really enjoyed this and completely in aw of the areas you've managed to get through. Forced to drive from Venezuela because of the violence and went home to Chile through Bolivia and completely loved it (much I would). Fishing before he was a teenager and stuck with what his father taught him - love it bud.

I was honoured to have Dot as my first Overland from home guest. Wonderful laughs and so many stories going through each country.  "deigned" her tailor made van into areas we would believe needed 4x4 only. We are all wrong. Dot Happily took on challenges because she's happy to be African and heading to her home country. Goes to show, what you put in is what you get out.

As always never enough time. Ferenc and Evelyn have been thorough and consistent in what they do.  All of this with a 40L engel fridge and google translate. We didn't even chat about the the plastic recycling project in Mali. Listen and follow the channel below. 

 This once again was a great chat. I learnt about Oman Leopards (Yes I had to google that too). Checked out the Gnarly-est Tacoma front grill and understood Mundhir's passion for being outdoors. He's got a fantastic well thought out build coming so follow his channels and with it all unfold.

This ended up having a bunch of great surprises. A family of two use a 95L Waeco. “If it rains you’re stuck for 12hrs” and a standard family convoy of 6 vehicles (before sending out invites). This is a great couple to keep your eyes on folks. They stick to there word and honour the land they're driving on. Amazing travels and wish for everyone to experience the same which is why there website is so informative. subscribe and listen to there stories and plans they're trying to put in place. Jeeps, Defenders, Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Latin America etc etc. 

Emre has great initiative. He took a completely different industry and turned in into "something" to be proud of. swapping badges, building rigs and now created an online store. Follow him on these channels and let's watch him grow a market not entirely used to Overlanding
