To Grow in Love and Truth
Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “THE REPROACHES OF THOSE WHO REPROACHED YOU FELL ON ME.” - Romans 15:1-3

To Stop Pointing Fingers
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NIV

To Lean on God When We Feel Helpless
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour. – Isaiah 61:1-3, NIV

Embracing Our Differences
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. – Romans 12:3-5, NIV

There’s No Room for Selfish Ambition When Two Become One
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. - Philippians 2:1-2, KJV

To Be Lord Over Our Marriage
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:22-24, NIV

Patient in Tribulation (James 5)
Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. - James 5:10-11, NIV

Choosing Love is Always Better Than Pride
The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. – Proverbs 16:17-19

The Strength to Press On
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. - 1 Peter 1:3-5, NIV

To Listen With Compassion and Grace
The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult. An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies. The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. – Proverbs 12:15-18, NIV

Where God Leads We'll Follow
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. – John 10:27-29, NIV

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 - “To Tear Down Our Strongholds”
There are things that we struggle with daily. It’s an everyday process to tear down the bad habits or break free of addictions. We cast down imaginations and thoughts daily to fight the good fight. If we are in the Word of God daily we will start to see these strongholds come down, as we know Him and walk in His will.

John 17:20-23 - “To Be One in Spirit and Soul”
Jesus uses the word “one” in this portion of scripture 5 times. This is His last prayer before going to the cross. He’s stressing the importance of unity both in the body of Christ and man's relationship with God. The oneness we have as a couple reflects the unity that Christ has with the church, and so we must be reflecting that model in our marriage as we are yoked together with Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - “Learning to Love”
Agape love is a giving kind of love. It’s clearly not a barter system where you only give as much as you get. Jesus illustrated this kind of love when He died on the cross. He loved us while we were yet sinners. As He gives love to us, we in turn are to give love to others.

Isaiah 41:10 - “Our Comfort and Strength”
There are times when we’re lonely, days we feel empty, seasons in which we need to be reminded that God is with us and that He is our strength. And so there are times when we do have companions, but there are also days when that solitude is a necessary part of spending time alone with our God.

Matthew 7:1-5 - “To Look for the Best in Each Other”
It’s easy to slip into a fault-finding habit as we point a finger at others instead of ourselves. We need to practice letting go of the small things, while we accept that fact that we’re different. Look inward, examine ourselves, and be willing to change when we must.

Matthew 5:13-16 - “To Let Our Light Shine”
What kind of an example are we to our kids? To others? We’re here to be salt and light in this world, and it must start at home. We must be in unity if we hope to represent the relationship between Christ and the church.

Psalm 37:4 - "Delight Yourself in the Lord"
The process of the Christian life is repentance. Day by day, we’re laying down our old lives and walking in the newness of the Spirit. As we’re transformed, our desires grow increasingly honorable. Temptations diminish with growth and resistance. A desire to serve God increases. We won’t change overnight, but we will see a progression as we immerse ourselves in God’s Word.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Lean Not on Your Own Understanding"
In Revelation 2, John writes, “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” He is referring to scripture here. The testimony that Christ gave to the apostles and what the apostles gave to us. If we are basing our faith off of anything outside of Bible we are in danger of veering off one way or another and losing our understanding of what it means to be a believer.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 - "Help and Strength Through Transition"

Genesis 2:21-24 – “To Cherish Our Marriage“
It’s interesting to see how opposites attract and fit together as one. Marriage is a wonderful gift that we need to cherish by respecting and loving each other. We should be conscious to meet each other's needs and to look for ways to encourage our spouse.

Matthew 5: 14-16 - "To Be a Light in the Dark"
The reason we let our light shine is to glorify God, and when we shine for that reason, we are the same both inside and outside of the home. As believers we need to be careful that we’re not different people outside our homes. When we have the Holy Spirit and the love of God in us, we’re able to put old things to death to grow more and more like Christ.

Matthew 6: 9-13 – “Teach Us To Pray“
There are many temptations in marriage, to hold onto anger, to choose pride, to follow our own will instead of God’s truth… but when we resist the temptations and choose what is best according to God’s will, we’re on the right path.

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 – “He's Coming Back Soon“
We need to be prepared for Christs return. Whether He comes today or tarries for a hundred years, we need to be living as though He could return any moment. Not in a fearful way, but by putting our hope in Him.

Proverbs 27:17 - "Building Christ-Centered Friendships"
As a couple, we have the ability to sharpen each other. We can do that by living as an example in our homes. A strong friendship opens a door to discussion. We have a platform for discussion when we are friends first.

Luke 6:38 - "Help Us to Be a Generous Couple"
We need to be generous people. Not from a place of worry or concern, but from a place of faith. We don’t give to get back, we give to bless God. We give to show His love to this world.

Ephesians 4:29 - "To Lean in and Grab Hold of Peace"

Ephesians 4:2-3 - "May We Strive to Choose Peace"
It’s hard to put our pride aside when we’re angry and hurt. It takes incredible patience to grow together and to do it with grace. And so, if we want to live in unity and peace we must be willing to put in the effort. With God's help we can do it!

Matthew 10:28-31 - “Fear Not”
This verse speaks volumes to what we’re going through today, both in our home and in this world. “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Our focus needs to be on the soul, for when we are strengthened from within we can withstand the climate without.
