2020 NBA Draft Primer: This segment isn't about my projected draft order, but a breakdown of all the relevant players expected to be picked in the top 40. In a draft that's not considered elite or top-heavy, there's a good chance teams selecting lower end up with the best players, similar to the infamous Anthony Bennett draft. If you're a team picking in the 10-15 range but like someone projected to go 16-30, THIS is the kind of unpredictable, volatile draft where you must REACH. For instance, if you're the Suns GM and like Tyrell Terry, this is the year to take a chance in the lottery because there's no serious dropoff in the talent level that follows. Picks 1-5 are just as unpredictable as 5-14, 15-30, 31-60. This is gonna be fun!

You gotta appreciate the greatness we are witnessing. But at the same time, the level of competition in is nothing to get excited about. CP3 and Embiid proved that they are more respected by their peers that fans and media give them credit for. Reggie Jackson is a great piece to the puzzle, diversifying the Clippers pick and roll options. But they're still one piece away from being unbeatable: a long, defensive-minded, rebounding PF/C who can finish around the rim and use up fouls against Anthony Davis. Tristan Thompson would be perfect for them, but who knows if the Cavs want to move on just yet. The waiver wire will change the fate of both LA teams.

The final days of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons as teammates are upon us. The Warriors took a necessary gamble on Andrew Wiggins and have a likely top-5 pick to boot. The chants for Fizdale's head was predictable given the history of the Dolan regime. Mills needs to go too! Scott Perry has done a respectable job considering who his bosses are, but he has to be the sacrificial lamb. Clean house! Hell, bring Sam Hinkie in and start a 7 year tank process because Lord knows RJ, Mitch and co. won't be sticking around long term. The last draft pick that was brought back on a 2nd contract was...wait for it...Charlie Ward. Let that sink in. Does someone have Jeff Bezos's number? #SellTheTeam

Early season thoughts on everything NBA!

Fizdale should be on the hot seat, still hasn't implemented a system or identity. Frank does all the little things that help his team win but don't show up in the box score. DSJ has been a bust. Dotson and Brazdeikis need playing time. Knox should be starting. Robinson needs a PG and shooters around him. RJ is a beast. And the Nets get another free pass from the media.

And of course, some Knicks homerism at the end.

What to make of the recent comments by Kevin Durant (about the Knicks) and LeBron James (about Daryl Morey's comments regarding China and Hong Kong). And David Fizdale better start showing he can run a modern offense instead of paying lip service to analytics.

Rumor has it that Kevin Durant is aiming to come back THIS season, and if true this would be a major mistake. Will Jarrett Allen, Joe Harris, and Mitchell Robinson take a step forward after their stint with USA basketball? Is RJ Barrett going to live up to expectations in year one? David Fizdale has a lot to prove to be mentioned in the same sentence as Kenny Atkinson.

Is the addition of Al Horford and Josh Richardson enough to offset losing Jimmy Butler and JJ Redick? Ben Simmons and Giannis Antetokounmpo must improve their jumpers if they want to take their teams to the promised land. New Nets owner Joseph Tsai has a few PR tricks up his sleeve to steal away Knicks fans, will signing Carmelo Anthony be one of them?

The French Prince still has a ton of untapped potential. Can he, at the very least, have a Marcus Smart-like impact? Will that happen in NY or elsewhere? Where does he fit into the rotation? Fizdale has to stop paying lip service to D and start rewarding the players that are committed on that end of the floor.

There's a glut at SG and PF, so who makes the rotation?

What can we expect from Dwight this year? Which Laker is under the most pressure to perform? Is this the end for DeMarcus Cousins?

Does Melo deserve a farewell tour? Can he still contribute? What are GMs so afraid of?

Hypocrisy at its finest. Kerr warns players since he thinks it's problematic for the league if players control their own destiny after signing the dotted line. Maybe get rid of the tampering fines instead since the players recruit each other all the time.
