Breaking Free From Bias
A globally experienced coach since 1998 (40+ countries), mentor coach since 2003, certified coaching supervisor and popular speaker, Marilyn is a recognized thought leader in the areas of unconscious bias, CQ and EQ (cultural and emotional intelligence), authoring Breaking Free from Bias, as well as contributing to Law and Ethics in Coaching (“The Intersection of Culture and Ethics”). Her experience includes Ethical Coach, Adjunct Professor of Organizational Behavior and International Business in Hong Kong and Malaysia, living in Brazil and Spain and serving as Director of Education for a nonprofit (NGO) in Brazil as well as six years as Director, Global Board for the International Coach Federation and two years for the Association of Coach Training Organizations. BREAKING FREE FROM BIAS We may believe we are nonjudgmental and we “don’t see color” (or allow our interactions with and decisions about others to be influenced by our bias about their gender, age, etc.)  Is that really possible? Unconscious bias neuroscience research says no, that is not how our brains work. Even those of us who are used to working multiculturally! (Humility is very important on this journey.) From the Glass Ceiling, generational gaps and lingering cultural fears or resentment, we benefit from recognizing and managing our unconscious bias. Join Marilyn O’Hearne, MSW, Master Certified Coach, author of Breaking Free from Bias: Preventing Costly Complaints and Talent Loss,  as she shares her six IMPACT steps designed to move us from bias and judgement, which can sabotage our success, to increased impact and influence. The Power of Devotion - Guest Rev Ever Mudambanuki

Download Your Free E Book of FEAR BE GONE-OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE at https://www.drstemmie.com/fearbegone . In Today’s Podcast Kurt Faustin's Journey To Personal Independence and Fame- helping you increase your thought process and dream desires. He says Yes You Can! 75,000,000 millennials are preparing to join the workforce, Millennials want to enjoy their work. They want to enjoy their workplace. They want to make friends in their workplace. They work hard, but they are not into the sixty hour work weeks defined by the Baby Boomers. Home, family, spending time with the children and families, are priorities. Lack of these provisions means they are disengaged. Don’t lose sight of this. Statistics show we have an EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT CRISIS… 1 in 5 employees are looking for a new job. 70% of all U.S. workers are disengaged at work. Highly engaged employees are 26% more productive, and their companies earned 13% greater total returns for shareholders over a 5 year time period. source: Gallup, Towers Watson My Guest today Kurt Faustin says he was one of the 7 out of 10 people who was not satisfied in his work. He states “ From being a constant distraction at work with the “water cooler” talk or spending more time on the internet than being productive, We Were Being A Product Of Our Circumstance And Not Of Our Decisions. We realize that something was missing, there was the need to be more and do more. I started my own company TriUmph to teach soft skills and leadership skills that will hire and keep productive millennials in the workplace. Founded in 2013, TriUmph was created to provide hope and inspiration to all walks of life. Led by CEO Kurt Faustin, the company has educated and presented for social workers, residents in a halfway house, helped designed curriculum and presented in a prison, provided motivational newsletters and executed multiple successful networking events for young professionals living in Boston. A Pride of Zimbabwe Imani Mawocha talks about Africa is Not A Continent
Download Your Free E Book of FEAR BE GONE-OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE at https://www.drstemmie.com/fearbegone . In Today’s Podcast . It is amazing that some people would get confused about the second largest continent in the World. The misconception in thinking Africa is a country rather than a continent is fueled by the media and those who often project Africa as a country damaged by war, famine, and corruption. My guest today 22-year-old Iwani Mawocha, defied All odds and became brave enough to help people better understand Africa as a continent not a country. Africa is a blurry image in the mind of many people around the world–warring, impoverished, unfixable. But then there are the stories of young Iwani who decided against all odds to do a video blog that addressed the notion “Africa is Not a Country”. Imani talks about Africa as having 54 states on the continent, yet the media insists on referring to it as one place. Africa has an image problem. Or, put another way, the West has a perception problem. An Apology Could Change Your Life - with Guest Dr Jennifer Thomas
Download Your Free E Book of FEAR BE GONE-OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE at https://www.drstemmie.com/fearbegone . In Today’s Podcast : An Apology could change your life. No kidding! Almost like magic, an apology has the power to repair harm, mend relationships, soothe wounds and heal broken hearts. There are millions of people today walking around filled with rage, resentment fear, anger …animosity you name it ….it’s draining…..and my guest today Dr. Jennifer Thomas says an apology can change all that. Dr. Jen explains – there are five languages to an apology, she will tell us what those five languages are and how to use them in our everyday lives. When you know you’ve offended someone, you should act with urgency to repair the problem. Spell out what you have done wrong, how this has “put out” the other person, show concern for them, and explain what will truly be different next time. In order to give the most successful apologies, you should ask the people close to you what they most appreciate hearing in an apology. After you learn the apology languages of your friends, family members and co-workers, you will have the extra benefit of being able to give targeted apologies. These apologies will hit their mark and impart the full measure of your sincerity. Sincere apologies are a precious gift. They impart a feeling to the receiver of being deeply valued. Further, they smooth the way to true forgiveness and reconciliation. May you surprise others with the transparency, humility, and boldness of your apologies! Dr. Jennifer M. Thomas is a wife and mother of two school-aged kids and one feisty four-year-old. Jennifer is a motivational speaker and a psychologist in private practice in Winston-Salem, NC. She is the co-author, along with Dr. Gary Chapman, of The Five Languages of Apology (Northfield Publishing: 2006). This book has been translated into a dozen languages and they’ve been radio guests on Focus on the Family and Janet Parshall’s America – and now The DrStem Show on America Out Loud. Jennifer frequently consults with companies on leadership and relationship issues. Are you Stuck in A Rut? Guest Rodney Flowers Was Stuck in a Wheelchair Until...
Download Your Free E Book of FEAR BE GONE-OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE at https://www.drstemmie.com/fearbegone . Today’s Podcast : It was the third day of school of my sophomore year in 1993. I played football for the Lumberton High Pirates. It was our very first game of the season, and we were playing the South View Tigers on our home field. I lined up on the right side of the field as we prepared for the kick-off to the second half of the game. As the placekicker made contact with the ball, I ran down the field while remaining mindful to stay in my lane and avoid other players. As I approached my opponent’s forty-yard line, I saw the Tiger’s punt returner heading towards my side of the field. In preparation of tackling the other team’s player, I made a slight left turn in his direction. Traveling at top speed, I broke into tackling form and made contact with the Southview Tiger’s kick returner. I remember the hit as a fierce one. I felt the runner go down. I too went down, but after hitting the ground, something didn’t seem right. Upon contact, it felt as if all of my energy and power jumped out of my body. I couldn’t feel myself. I tried to get up. I knew what it felt like to get up. My brain was repeatedly going through the process of getting up, but my body was unresponsive. It became clear I was unable to move and would not be getting up on my own. I immediately knew I was in bad shape. I kept trying to get up. I heard people shouting, “Get up Rodney, get up.” I knew I suffered some sort of spinal injury. My teammate and best friend ran to me after the hit and said forcefully, “Good hit man. That’s what I’m talking about, good hit.” Then he realized something was wrong. He reached down to help. “Are you alright man? C’mon lets go, get up.” But before he had a chance to grab my hands, the coaches and trainer stopped him and yelled, “Don’t touch him, don’t move him. He could be hurt badly.” Reality began to set in and tears began to roll down my face. I came to grip with the fact that the only thing I had control over was my head. The story continues here. In this empowering and inspiring podcast Dr. Stem talks to Rodney Flowers about THE PROGRESS FORMULA which is designed to free users of the restrictions and the constraints that are holding them back from progressing forward in life. This formula is designed to identify the causes of the restrictions and constraints that show up in your life, identify and establish what you want from life, and close the gap between where you are and where you really want to be. DrStem Understand Today’s Teenagers and Bullying
Download Your Free E Book of FEAR BE GONE-OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE at https://www.drstemmie.com/fearbegone . In Today’s Podcast : One of the most painful aspects of bullying is that it is relentless. Most people can take one episode of teasing or name calling or being shunned at the mall. However, when it goes on and on, bullying can put a person in a state of constant fear. You will notice most students spend their afternoons hungry and unable to concentrate in class because they are too afraid to go to the school cafeteria at lunchtime. Studies show that people who are abused by their peers are at risk for mental health problems, such as low self-esteem, stress, depression, anxiety and even suicidal tendencies and death. Bullies are at risk for problems, too. Bullying is violence, and it often leads to more violent behavior as the bully grows up. It's estimated that 1 out of 4 elementary-school bullies will have a criminal record by the time they are 30. Some teen bullies end up being rejected by their peers and lose friendships as they grow older. Bullies may also fail in school and not have the career or relationship success that other people enjoy. Who Bullies? Many bullies share some common characteristics. They like to dominate others and are generally focused on themselves. They often have poor social skills and poor social judgment. Sometimes they have no feelings of empathy or caring toward other people. Although most bullies think they're hot stuff and have the right to push people around, others are actually insecure. They put other people down to make themselves feel more interesting or powerful. And some bullies act the way they do because they've been hurt by bullies in the past — maybe even a bullying figure in their own family, like a parent or other adult. In this show I talk about what parents and adults can do to better support all children especially the ones susceptible to bullying.
