Diana Sumpter: 60-Second Throwdown (Ep 5b)
In Diana Sumpter's 60-Second Throwdown, we talk about everything from what's in her camera roll to the three things she can't travel without.
What you may not know about Diana, she's a breakfast girl who loves the mountains and carries the biggest purse you can get (with 4-inch stilettos!). And make sure you watch the video to see her show off her favorite fair of sparkly high heels (that she’s only walked in once).
Her life verse is Ephesians 3:20 and her favorite quote is, “You cannot be mad or sad if you’re covered in glitter.” And even though she’s been all over the world, you might be surprised about the one state she’s never visited that she can’t wait to go to.
And I would be remiss if I hadn’t asked her to share the one piece of makeup she’d use if she could only pick one...
Diana Sumpter is a National Sales Director, Retired Air Force, Author and International Speaker. You can find her book, Step Out of the Box: Your Dream Life is Waiting, on Amazon and join her Facebook group, “Generations of Sparkle”.

Fearless in her 50's: DIANA SUMPTER (Ep 5)
When it comes to being fearless in your 50’s, only one person came to mind. Diana Sumpter is a National Sales Director, Retired Air Force, Author and International Speaker. She’s helped brainstorm this very conversation for many years and it’s a joy to be able to share some of her wisdom, insights and experiences with you. Here are some things that stood out to me during our time together:
2:07 Fearless doesn’t mean without fear
3:56 This slow down is an opportunity, not an obstacle
5:20 How to feel confident in your calling
6:46 Whatever you say you’re never going to do is probably where your calling is at
10:04 Pay attention to your inner circle, who you surround yourself with
11:20 Choose to respect, even when you don’t like someone’s habits
12:04 Part of being fearless is just to HANG ON, not because it’s the EASY thing to do but because it’s the RIGHT thing to do
17:35 Allow someone you love to run in their own lane
20:28 Don’t take advice from anybody you wouldn’t trade places with
23:04 We can’t control when things crash, but we can control our own thoughts and actions
26:18 The key to change
27:43 Erase & Replace: whatever you talk about you’re going to bring to you
29:47 Always a season when a woman has to slow down
31:17 The enemy will throw every piece of arsenal at you when you are closest to your greatest breakthrough
33:50 Pitiful labels
35:14 As a parent, the 5 people you hang out with will determine your children: confident children come from confident parents
39:09 Be willing to be inconvenienced
40:09 Don’t ask someone what they did, ask what they were thinking and reading
43:06 What she wishes she did when she was younger (moved faster & trusted her instincts)
45:26 How she hopes to grow (Get out of the life of excuses and into excellence)

Fearless in her 40's: RACHEL MARIE MARTIN (Ep 4)
This conversation with author, entrepreneur and mom of six, Rachel Marie Martin, was especially fun because we were born in the same decade! Getting to talk through the concept of being fearless with someone my age, but who has traveled quite a different path was so interesting and enlightening. Some of my key takeaways from our conversation happened when:
3:57 - Why people think she’s in their head
6:13 - The best compliment she ever received
11:46 - “What would awesome you do?”
16:03 - Where does change start?
19:32 - We all have one powerful tool

Annie F. Downs: 60-Second Throwdown (Ep 3b)
Get to know author & speaker Annie F. Downs even better after her Generation Wisdom interview in our 60-Second Throwdown. Annie kept us laughing, per usual, but also shared insights on what type of drink she wants and where she wants to drink it after the quarantine ends, along with walking us through her favorite Broadway shows and singing out the most fun episode of her own podcast, That Sounds Fun.
Fearless in her 30's: ANNIE DOWNS (Ep 3)
Annie Downs literally wrote the book on being brave...multiple, in fact. In addition to "Let's All Be Brave" (https://amzn.to/34RuDyM), her devotional, "100 Days to Brave", has now been published in multiple formats and languages because of its popularity. I've known Annie for a long time and it was a joy to be able to speak to her, not just about the difference between being brave and courageous, but so much more. You may want to jump to the following timestamps to hear:
2:00 - How she'll entertain people until they learn something
6:04 - What separation had to happen in her life
11:45 - A warning about where you find your identity
13:30 - Why 100 days is important
14:25 - What feels borderline attainable
17:20 - Why did you get out of bed today?
21:51 - Where are you going to stand?
25:17 - Why there is no shame in publicly wanting what you don't have
28:58 - How to give yourself permission to be fully you
And stay tuned until the very end to hear what Annie is looking forward to in her later years of life...
Annie F. Downs is a speaker author and loud-laugher who lives in Nashville, TN. You can catch up with Annie on her podcast, That Sounds Fun, on her blog at AnnieFDowns.com, in addition to following her on social at @AnnieFDowns.

What better woman in her 20's to talk about being fearless with than the woman who literally wrote the song by the same name. FEARLESS: Introduction with Sami Cone (Ep 1)
I always knew the first topic I wanted to talk about on Generation Wisdom was the concept of being fearless, courageous and brave. Interestingly enough - as I've come to find out over the course of these conversations - these characteristics can all be interpreted differently. During a time in our world (April 2020) when fear and anxiety seem to be running rampant, we could not have picked a more timely first topic.
When it came to picking women to discuss the concept of being fearless, I didn't have to think long. Some of these women have literally written books and songs on the topic! In this introduction to our series on being fearless, I provide a highlight of each of my female guests from each decade:
* 20's: Jasmine Murray (Contemporary Christian Recording Artist)
* 30's: Annie F. Downs (Author & Speaker)
* 40's: Rachel Marie Martin (Entrepreneur & Author)
* 50's: Diana Sumpter (Author, International Speaker and National Sales Director)
* 60's: Barbara Rainey (Author & Co-Founder of FamilyLife)

Imagine gathering some of your favorite friends, authors, mentors and speakers around a table to discuss a topic important to you. That's exactly what we get to do here on Generation Wisdom. But the amount of time someone has to talk depends on how old they are: women in their 20's get 20 minutes, 30-year-olds get 30 minutes and so on, up to our wisest women getting 60 minutes.
We'll discuss important traits, like being fearless, wise and compassionate. So get ready to listen and share because this is Generation Wisdom!
