When something terrible happens, it can be hard to find humour in it. But as time passes and we gain some distance from the event, it's often easier to see the absurdity and find the humour in it.
It's not to say that tragedies shouldn't be taken seriously, but rather that humour can be a coping mechanism and a way to process difficult experiences.
So the next time you're faced with a tragedy, remember that time can be a great healer and sometimes, the passage of time can turn a tragedy into something humorous.
In hindsight, every tragedy becomes a source of comedy. Time really does heal all wounds. We thank God for the friends who allow us the space and the time to laugh at ourselves.

Familiarity can breed contempt and not every "atta boy" and "keep at it" is sincere. Sometimes it's just hate and jealousy all masked up.

Earth is hard but it's not that serious people. A solution is always on hand.

This too shall pass! How chastening in the hour of pride. How consoling in the depth of affliction.

"Who are you?" The automatic response is to give your name. By giving your name you feel you've answered that question. But once again the answer is incorrect. Your name isn't you. I haven't quite yet figured out the answer to this question myself. If you have, maybe you could tell me how 😇

The definition of a hypocrite is a person who pretends to have certain beliefs, attitudes or feelings when they really do not. Sometimes folks are unaware that they’re being two-faced, but oftentimes they know exactly what they’re doing. They’re trying to manipulate the truth, conceal an embarrassment, or compensate for a weak line of reasoning. In any case, hypocrites know the real truth, but they’re afraid that revealing it may have negative consequences — so they mislead. The biggest stay taliban advocates were busy on the male toys space throwing 💯💯 everywhere 😂😂

My opinionated self couldn't keep myself from recording this episode. I logged off a space conversation on the same topic because I felt I couldn't get all that I needed to say out in the time-slot allocated. Thank God for podcasts I must say. Bullying on spaces has become a thing and it's a reflection on a society full of shitty people. I learnt about online bystanders on that space and that got me thinking real hard about my place in all that. An online bystander is someone, strangers included, who witnesses bullying, either in person or online and does nothing about it. Bystanders have the potential to make a positive difference in a bullying situation by becoming an upstander. An upstander is someone who sees what happens and intervenes, interrupts, or speaks up to stop the bullying. An Upstander is someone who takes action when they witness bullying. Even one person’s support can make a big difference for someone who is being bullied. When youth who are bullied are defended and supported by their peers, they are less anxious and depressed than those who are not. Let's be upstanders in future and help stamp out the bullying.

Twitter spaces came in and changed the content game for the average social media enthusiast. Clubhouse existed ofcourse but only for ios users and let's face it, that's probably 10% of the African social media consumers 😜. Spaces came in and gave those of us who never felt heard a platform to air our opinions to the masses, engage others on various life changing topics and make friends with people from all walks of life. So what are spaces to you? What's your experience on them? How have they helped or damaged you? I share my opinion on spaces with a few special mentions to guys who have literally come into my Twitter life and made a difference.

Yes, we are in a pandemic and nothing seems to make sense but we need to find time to take deep breaths and appreciate just how far we've come. It means taking time to recognize the daily moments that bring us joy and really seeing what causes that emotion.

Exercise patience, Don’t rush yourself. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Think decades, not month by month.

Long Distance relationships suck. I am yet to meet a single human being who enjoys them but they are a necessity in the world we live in.

Several days ago we woke up to news that Naomi Campbell wants to inspire people to travel to Kenya. The supermodel, who is known for showing her love for Africa, was selected as the official international ambassador of tourism for Kenya. Following that announcement by Tourism Secretary Najib Balala, #KOT and Kenyans at large were undoubtedly excited at the news but there was the usual bad apple in the mix throwing shade. After some research and critical thinking, I decided to throw in my two cents on the matter. As Balala said, her position “doesn’t take away from our domestic market, it only strengthens it.”

If you've grown tired of mom asking when you'll give her some grandchildren, friends questioning when you and your new partner will tie the knot, or if you've ever dreaded a family gathering because you knew you'd have to answer similar questions - then you know the frustration of relentless love life invasions. Many people associate marriage and family with happiness so they focus on this aspect of your life, believing it's a critical means to that end. To them, life is about family and tradition. They don't comprehend how you can be content while single, and certainly don't buy that you're happy.

It's okay to be terrified about the short run and optimistic about the long run. Those aren't mutually exclusive. But it can feel like they are, especially when expressing optimism publicly makes you look oblivious to today's reality. It's also okay to be both confident about your decisions and humble about how little we know. "strong opinions, weakly held" is probably the best philosophy when the stakes are high and the uncertainty is vast. Bottom line is when emotions swing from one side to the other it can be tempting to not trust either. But sometimes it's fine to have conflicting emotions, because two opposite things can be true at the same time.

A bride price refers to money that a groom pays to his bride's father/family in exchange for her hand in marriage. It is an ancient custom that has been practiced all over the world. The tradition of a bride price has decreased over time and it is no longer a common custom in developed countries or urban areas. However, it is still widely practiced in Africa. In traditional Kenyan customs the dowry was the equivalent of five years of the grooms expectable income usually payable in installments of livestock and money and thanks to a culture of greed, it has grown to levels of almost criminal financial extortion. Imagine a society where instead of saving a lot of money to pay back parents for doing whats morally obligated of them, they actually save money and give you and your significant other a headstart in life. Instead of starting your marriage life on a financial and mental negative, you begin on a positive financial pedestal🤔

Is she a Golddigger or does she simply have standards you can't keep up with? Men when you start dating a woman, look at your bank account and date within your means. Impress her with who you are. Impress her with how you listen to her. Impress her with creative ideas and creative dates. Don't break the bank trying to impress her with funds you do not have. If you fake a lifestyle and she falls in love with that, when the truth finally comes out, she is going to be disappointed and leave you. Ladies, if you believe you are out of somebody's league- you most likely are. Don't feel bad about it. You've spent your lifetime trying to get your act together and still cracking hard at it. It is not your fault if a man wasted his time fooling around nor is it your job to fix him. That job was for his parents and his kin. Cheers

Tourism has lost nearly $200m in revenue due to the covid19 pandemic. Here is our chance to help. Covid hit and with it came travel restrictions and lockdowns being handed out like sweets to children. While I could delve deeply on how that has affected the industry, I want to go in a different direction and speak to the local/domestic tourist. Now by October, nearly one million wildebeest will be in Kenya, accompanied by other migratory animals including gazelles and zebras.

Kenyans have rallied behind the governments call to "tembea Kenya" to help the industry get on its feet but my question is, "at what cost?". We now have the chance to show the local hotels and tour companies that we can also spend our hard earned cash on luxury, we want to show them that we can be reliable customers and they should tailor their packages to suit our needs. While the majority are indeed towing the line, we have a few rotten apples looking to spoil the party for us.

In social science and politics, power is the capacity of an individual to influence the actions, beliefs, or conduct (behaviour) of others. There is no middle ground for moral choice and political decision because by being on a safe side, any indecisive act poses a moral hazard to the individual freedom and integrity of a democratic society.

Being deserving means having an expectation of goodness in your life. The idea of being deserving isn't a new one, but for someone who isn't used to feeling deserving or worthy, it can be a difficult concept. Those of us who are constantly critical of ourselves, perfectionistic, hard driven or even coming from critical/abusive childhoods. While you may try for a time to hit the mark, over time you may begin to realize you can't. All you are left with is this angry voice in your head reminding you how you always screw up, how you're a loser, how you will never be good enough. Let's talk about it.

When did we start subscribing to prosperity gospel?

One in five girls aged between 15 and 19 in Kenya is either pregnant or has given birth already. Reports state that old and young men alike continue to lure young girls to sex unabated despite efforts by child rights activists and government to arrest this shame that bodes badly for the health of the nation. Who or what is to blame for all that is happening? Is poverty the main culprit or are we simply not speaking to our children about sex early enough?

As a member of the first generation that finally gets to question religion, I have had my fair share of squabbles with it. I however cannot hide my head in the sand and pretend that it hasn't done some good in this world. This is a story of a few instances where humanity has come out in a strong show of faith in their beliefs to put their money where their mouths are and prove that God does answer prayers. They say be strong during the difficult times, remember the good times, have faith in almighty everything will be alright in the end.

Church weddings are great but not compulsory or mandated by the Bible to qualify a couple for marital blessings. A church wedding is a bonus but not the main deal, though good to have one, it does not mean you are bringing your marriage before God. God does not have an office in church buildings. The usually cheaper and more intimate traditional wedding is getting embraced more and more by the youth of our time. Many couples are opting for the traditional version as it gets parents and very close friends involved in the planning of the ceremony. It also involves a boat load of dancing and laughing. The ceremony at the AG that's usually the cheapest option of the three is not widely used as many have it pegged as one for broke people though still a very valid option. As I visited my grandmother over the weekend, I decided to pose this question to her to get her opinion having graced this earth with her presence for the better part of 70+yrs and seen her fair share of relationships. The late, great singer Aretha Franklin said Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting, it’s encouraging, it’s strengthening.

A Boys club was initially described as a group of men that when together act like boys, joking around and goofing around witch each other. Men who create a safe space between themselves to let loose and leave their worldly troubles aside. In the recent past in Kenya, we've seen the emergence of another unique brand of "boys". Like with the masons of old age, these groups are formed to grow each other and invest. Famously the "Muranga boys club" is responsible for the biggest bank by customer base in East Africa "Equity bank". So let's dive deep into this matter and see what we come up with

They say marriage is the beginning of the family and is a life long commitment. Weddings are the symbol of this commitment and the foundation of the love to the partner. But why go through such a massive ceremony when just a verbal agreement should be anough between two adults and a certificate to cover the government side of things?
