We all want our kids to be compassionate...well what about showing compassion to themselves. Teaching your children to be kind to themselves is so important. I love creatives! Doesn’t mean that all of my kids will be creatives but if I see anything I can help them develop I jump on the chance to do so. Mental illness is real and black children are suffering from it. Who was raised in a home where you were told what happens in our home stays in our home? Our parents were trying to protect us and protect their space but I think hearing things like that said can cause a child to stuff and mass a lot of what needs to be talked about. I am not a mental health expert but I know what pain looks like from not speaking your truth. Today, Shyla is sharing her story of how she dealt with mental illness in her home and was still able to keep her sanity in the process. This interview is truly transparent. Shyla continues to encourages children and adults. She has a book entitled Brite Saves the Day where she tells children it is ok to be different. Her book can be found in Barnes and Noble. She also has a radio show called Listen Up where her guest talk about the how life’s lesson have blessed them. Check her out on itsttr.com every other tues @7

Today, I am having a candid conversation with a mom friend of mine on bullying. Y’all some of the stories she shared are just heartbreaking but she is killing the game by teaching her kids how to navigate through these challenging situations. We decided not to use any names in this podcast to protect anyone involved.
Today let’s talk about about perfectionism. In the age of social media the need to be perfect is magnified. How does this affect our relationships with those around us?
