Leaving DC to Start a Coffin Business?
I met Isabel when she invited me to be a guest on her podcast called I’m the Villain. I had so much fun I just decided to invite her on the Femtourage Podcast! When we started prepping for the episode, she shared that she is actually leaving DC in a few weeks to start a new life with her bae in Philly AND start a coffin business. It’s def a genius take on coffins (can I say that?!). Anyway, I’m sure you’ll enjoy! Piling Sh*t On
This episode is wild; I don’t know how else to say it. We weren’t even supposed to be recording a podcast episode. I asked Kayla McNeil to meet so we could promote her Black Girl Magic planner (if you missed it, it’s sold out). We sat down and after asking one simple question: “how did you end up in DC,” I realized she had an amazing story that needed to be shared. She goes into detail about the struggle bus she rode up to DC and balancing motherhood, 9-5, and a little entrepreneurship on the side. According to Montyy Taj herself, she’s nosey & loud. This came in handy on this week’s episode of the Femtourage Podcast! Carlyn & Montyy, an aspiring filmmaker and freelance writer, navigate being Black in white spaces, discuss what she learned growing up in a poor family with rich values, not telling white people she loves Cardi B, and not using your job as an excuse not to feed your passion every single day.
