End of Year Reflections

End of Year Reflections

In this episode we reflect on the podcast since it’s conception, what we’ve covered, what we’ve enjoyed and what we’ve found difficult.

There’s more to discuss and we look at what future episodes will hold.

Hope everyone has a good break and looking forward to bringing you more guests and content in the new year!

Early Interventions

Early Interventions

Join us for this episode where we explore how we can inspire children into science and why it is so effective to start at such a young age. We speak to Fran Long, a primary science expert whose career has spanned working as a primary science specialist to her current role as a training and engagement coordinator at a UK battery research institute. Our conversation covers topics from understanding how interventions can inspire more children into science and why it's important to start as young as 10. Can you remember being 10 and inspired about your future? Fran talks about who's job it is to ensure children have access to STEM careers and we discuss our experiences of doing outreach and ensuring both children and parents feel they can get involved in science.

Where do we start?

We talk to Farieha Altaf about why someone might choose to leave academia, and her personal experience of diversity, inclusivity, and belonging within and without STEM.
