The Crimes of Robert Pickton" is a chilling podcast series hosted by Marc, delving into one of the most monstrous cases in criminal history. Marc grapples with the horror evoked by Robert Pickton's atrocities, from his slaughter of animals on his farm to his predatory targeting of vulnerable women. The podcast highlights systemic failures that allowed Pickton's reign of terror to persist for over two decades, despite numerous red flags and missed opportunities by the justice system.

The narrative also explores recent developments, including controversy over the disposal of evidence from Pickton's farm, sparking opposition from victims' families and advocates for women's rights. The debate over preserving this evidence underscores the ongoing quest for justice and accountability.

DNA evidence tied to Pickton's farm reveals a mass burial ground for human remains, with around eighty unidentified DNA profiles detected, including those of 33 women. The discovery of male DNA on evidence and remains raises questions about potential accomplices and adds complexity to the investigation.

Marc reflects on visiting the Pickton farm and participating in a candlelight vigil with victims' families, emphasizing the stark reality of the case and the ongoing fight for justice. Despite Pickton's sentencing to life in prison in 2007, the families continue to face challenges in their quest for closure and accountability.

The Crimes Of Robert Pickton

The Crimes Of Robert Pickton

n February 5, 2002, the arrest of Robert Pickton marked a pivotal moment in the investigation into the disappearances of numerous women in British Columbia, Canada. Constable Nathan Wells of the RCMP's Coquitlam Detachment played a crucial role in obtaining a search warrant after receiving information about Pickton's possession of an illegal firearm, specifically a Mac 10 FULL AUTO handgun.

Prompted by a former truck driver for the Pickton family who disclosed the presence of illegal firearms on the property, law enforcement swiftly moved to secure a search warrant. The subsequent raid on Pickton's pig farm on February 5 revealed not only several illegal and unregistered firearms but also disturbing evidence linking missing women to the property.

During the search, investigators uncovered women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, and even personal items like an asthma inhaler prescribed to Sereena Abotsway, one of the missing women. The discovery of Mona Wilson's blood in a motorhome further escalated the severity of the situation. Pickton was re-arrested on February 22, 2002, and initially charged with two counts of murder. However, as the investigation progressed, a staggering total of 26 murder charges were eventually laid against him.

While in custody at the Surrey jail, Pickton unknowingly shared a cell with an undercover RCMP officer. Believing the officer to be another detainee, Pickton made chilling admissions, confessing to the murders of 49 women and expressing a desire to make it 50.

Simultaneously, the Pickton pig farm transformed into the largest crime scene in Canadian history, with extensive forensic efforts undertaken to recover evidence. This included the collection of 200,000 DNA samples and the meticulous sifting through 383,000 cubic yards of soil in search of human remains, amounting to a staggering cost of nearly $70 million.

Additionally, incriminating videotapes emerged, featuring conversations with Pickton's acquaintances. Scott Chubb, a friend of Pickton, recounted Pickton suggesting a method to kill a female heroin addict by injecting her with windshield washer fluid. Another tape revealed Pickton allegedly discussing his modus operandi for murdering sex workers, involving handcuffing, strangling, bleeding, and gutting them before feeding their remains to pigs. These tapes provided further damning evidence against Pickton, shedding light on the extent of his depravity and callousness.

Navigating Toxic Tinsel: Best Practices for Dealing with Difficult Relationships at Christmas 🎄

The holiday season is meant to be a time of joy, but dealing with difficult or toxic individuals can make it challenging. Here are some best practices to help you maintain your peace and sanity:

Set Clear Boundaries: Establish and communicate your boundaries early. Let others know what topics are off-limits for discussion, ensuring a more pleasant gathering.

Practice Mindful Responses: When faced with negativity or provocations, take a moment. Respond mindfully instead of reacting impulsively. Choose peace over confrontation.

Limit Interaction: Strategically plan your time to minimize exposure to toxic individuals. Have an exit plan or a safe space to retreat to if needed.

Focus on Self-Care: Prioritize self-care activities to recharge mentally and emotionally. Schedule breaks during gatherings to decompress and center yourself.

Bring a Support System: Attend events with a trusted friend or family member who understands the situation

.Have a discreet signal or code to communicate when you need a break.

Create Positive Distractions: Bring activities or games to shift the focus to positive interactions. Encourage shared enjoyable experiences to diffuse tension.

Virtual Celebrations: Consider virtual celebrations as an alternative to in-person gatherings. Video calls allow connection without the stress of physical presence.

Gift-Giving with Boundaries: Set clear boundaries around gift-giving to avoid manipulation. Consider alternatives like charitable donations or homemade gifts.

Practice Gratitude: Shift your focus to gratitude for positive aspects of the holidays. Maintain perspective on what truly matters to you.

"The Stolen Sisters of East Vancouver" is a powerful podcast series and documentary that delves into the tragic and long-standing issues plaguing the downtown east side of Vancouver, Canada. Hosted by Marc, the creator and host of the Vancouver True Crime Podcast, this compelling narrative uncovers the heart-wrenching stories of women, girls, and transgender women who have gone missing or fallen victim to predators in this impoverished neighborhood.

The series begins by providing a historical context, tracing the influx of people and the rise of a thriving drug scene in the 1970s and 1980s

. As the drug and sex work industries boomed, the vulnerable individuals of the downtown east side faced increasing dangers, including violence, addiction, and exploitation.

One of the key elements explored in this series is the term "stolen sisters," shedding light on its cultural and emotional significance within the community. It represents the heartbreakingly high number of individuals who have disappeared or been taken away from their loved ones.

The narrative unfolds to reveal specific cases and events that have left a lasting impact on the community. Notable among these is the haunting era of the "boozing barber," who brought terror through alcohol, and the infamous Robert Picton case from the 2000s.

"The Stolen Sisters of East Vancouver" is more than just a recounting of tragic events; it serves as a call to action. It seeks to raise awareness about the complex web of poverty, drugs, sex work, and predators that continue to affect this neighborhood. What is love bombing?  -Video MP4-

 Special guest. @narcissist_survivor

Love bombing is a form of manipulation that traps victims in a web of fake affection.

We will also examine Paul Burnado's incredible manipulation skills.

The strategies used by expert manipulators known as DARVO are described by @narcissist_survivor.

Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender - Used in maintaining control and perpetuating abuse.

Dark psychology frequently employs the manipulative technique known as "love bombing" to influence another person's feelings and behaviour.

In order to instill a sense of dependency and emotional attachment, it entails showering a person with excessive affection, notice, and flattery.

This tactic can be employed in various contexts, including romantic relationships, friendships, and even cults.

The goal of a love bomb is to forge a close emotional connection that makes the target more vulnerable to manipulation and control.

Gladiator School David Vella Conversation with a former hitman

Gladiator School David Vella Conversation with a former hitman

Re-edited recorded, August 4 2021.

Podcast Summary: Gladiator School - Conversations with David Vella

Step into the gritty underworld of organized crime and prison life with "Gladiator School," a gripping podcast that delves deep into the life and experiences of David Vella, a former hitman for the Colombian Cartel, Mafia, and outlaw bikers.

In this riveting interview, Vella opens up about his years spent in the criminal underworld, shedding light on his involvement in drug trafficking, extortion, and contract killing for some of the most notorious criminal organizations.

Vella's journey takes a chilling turn as he discusses his time at Collins Bay Penitentiary, a maximum- and medium-security federal prison in Kingston, Ontario, infamously dubbed "Gladiator School." This name stems from the prison's reputation for housing a volatile and challenging inmate population, as well as its history of violent incidents and its role in shaping a rugged and competitive prison culture.

The podcast paints a vivid picture of the factors contributing to Collins Bay's reputation as a "Gladiator School." A history of violence within its walls, including inmate-on-inmate assaults and fights, reflects territorial disputes, gang affiliations, and personal vendettas.

The podcast also explores the tough prison culture that often emerges in such settings. Inmates adopt a "survival of the fittest" mindset, leading to a culture where toughness and displays of violence are equated with respect and survival.

The summary also provides insight into the history and challenges faced by Collins Bay Penitentiary itself. Established in the 1930s, this federal prison has seen decades of evolution while dealing with issues like overcrowding, inmate violence, and drug trafficking. The conversation with David Vella offers a unique perspective on life within this institution and the broader landscape of organized crime.

"Gladiator School" offers an unfiltered look into the intricate interplay between criminal organizations, violent prison environments, and the lives of individuals like David Vella, who navigated both worlds.

"Staying Safe in Vancouver: A Chilling Encounter in Burnaby Park"

Welcome to the Vancouver True Crime Podcast! In this episode, we delve into a chilling encounter shared by Henny, a young lady with a passion for traveling. While relaxing in a peaceful Burnaby BC park, Henny experienced something unsettling that she captured on video and shared with us.

As the host of this podcast, I have built a strong connection with our audience, and I am grateful for the testimonies, experiences, and show ideas they contribute. This episode provides a platform for Henny to share her firsthand experiences in the current climate of Metro Vancouver, shedding light on the importance of personal safety.

Join us as we explore Henny's story and discuss the common-sense advice that can help keep you safe in various situations. We believe in fostering a collaborative environment where we can learn from one another and raise awareness about true crime incidents in Vancouver.

  1. Stay Aware of Your Surroundings: Always be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe in any situation, don't hesitate to remove yourself from it.

  2. Set Limits with Alcohol: While it's okay to enjoy a drink or two, it's essential to know your limits and drink responsibly. Excessive alcohol consumption can impair judgment and make you vulnerable to potential risks.

  3. Go Out with Trusted Friends: Stick to a group of friends you trust and look out for each other. Avoid going out alone, especially to unfamiliar places.

  4. Keep Your Phone Charged: Ensure your phone is fully charged before heading out and have important contacts saved, like a friend or family member you can call in case of emergency.

  5. Don't Accept Drinks from Strangers: While it's a nice gesture, it's safer to avoid accepting drinks from people you don't know or trust.

  6. Have a Transportation Plan: Plan your transportation in advance. If possible, arrange for a designated driver or use reputable rideshare services to get home safely.

  7. Be Mindful of Social Media: Avoid sharing real-time updates of your location and activities on social media. This can help protect your privacy and security.

  8. Dress Comfortably and Confidently: Wear attire that makes you feel confident and comfortable. You don't have to dress a certain way to fit in; be yourself.

  9. Avoid Dark, Isolated Areas: Stick to well-lit and populated areas when walking alone or with friends. Avoid shortcuts through secluded places, especially at night.

  10. Trust Your Intuition: If someone or something doesn't feel right, don't ignore your gut feeling. It's better to be safe than sorry.

  11. Learn Basic Self-Defense: Consider taking self-defense classes to boost your confidence and feel more empowered in challenging situations.

  12. Know the Venue's Emergency Exits: Familiarize yourself with the emergency exits and escape routes at the places you visit. In case of any emergencies, you'll know how to exit quickly.

  13. Avoid Leaving Drinks Unattended: If you need to step away from your drink, either finish it or get a new one when you return. Leaving a drink unattended can make it susceptible to tampering.

  14. Respect Personal Boundaries: Treat others with respect, and expect the same in return. If someone is making you uncomfortable, don't be afraid to assert yourself and set clear boundaries.

  15. Have a Backup Plan for Accommodations: If you're staying out late and away from home, have a backup plan for accommodations if needed. Don't rely solely on others for a safe place to stay.

Paul Bernardo Police Paul Bernardo — Police interrogation of Canada's notorious serial killer

Paul Bernardo Police Paul Bernardo — Police interrogation of Canada's notorious serial killer

Bernardo, 58, is serving a life sentence after being convicted in 1995 of the kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and first-degree murder of two teenaged girls, and he was declared a dangerous offender. He's been transferred to La Macaza Institution, a medium-security prison in the Laurentians region of Quebec.

Families of Paul Bernardo's victims demand killer's return to maximum security The government attempted to have the video removed, but Ontario Superior Court Justice David McCombs ruled that the entire 31-minute interview was valuable to the public. "The Internet is now an established extension of responsible media outlets' reporting," the judge ruled. Psychological Profile of Paul Bernardo: Paul Bernardo is a notorious Canadian serial killer and rapist who gained widespread media attention due to his heinous crimes committed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Analyzing his behavior and statements, we can construct a psychological profile to understand his mindset and the factors that contributed to his ability to deceive interrogators. Psychopathy: Bernardo's behavior and lack of remorse indicate that he exhibits psychopathic traits. Psychopathy is characterized by a disregard for the rights and feelings of others, a lack of empathy, and manipulative tendencies. His ability to commit gruesome acts without showing signs of guilt or remorse suggests a significant deficit in emotional processing. Sexual Sadism: Bernardo's crimes involved sexual assault, rape, and murder, indicating a strong sadistic component to his personality. He derived pleasure from exerting power and control over his victims, engaging in acts of extreme violence and degradation. This sadistic tendency likely played a significant role in his motivation to commit these crimes. Narcissism: Bernardo's statement about his sexual insecurity and performance anxiety reveals a narcissistic viewpoint. He emphasizes his own needs and desires, portraying himself as the victim of his own sexual impulses rather than taking responsibility for the harm he inflicted on others. This self-centered perspective aligns with narcissistic traits commonly observed in psychopathic individuals. Deception and Manipulation: Bernardo's ability to lie to police interrogators is rooted in his psychopathic tendencies. Psychopaths are skilled manipulators and often possess a charming and persuasive demeanor that allows them to deceive others. Bernardo likely relied on his ability to manipulate and distort the truth to evade detection and maintain control over the situation. Criminal Sophistication: Bernardo's crimes were carefully planned and executed. He and his wife, Karla Homolka, worked together to abduct, rape, and murder their victims. The fact that they managed to commit these crimes without being apprehended for a significant period indicates a certain level of criminal sophistication. Bernardo's ability to maintain a double life and avoid suspicion is likely a result of his meticulous planning and ability to adapt his behavior to avoid detection. The events of Bernardo's crimes, particularly the abduction and murders of Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French, shocked the public and continue to hold significant news value due to the controversial court proceedings and the nature of the crimes committed. Bernardo's psychological profile provides insight into the underlying factors that contributed to his ability to lie to police interrogators and manipulate others, shedding light on the disturbing mindset of a psychopathic serial killer.

Tatiana Dokhotaru's Tragic Story and the Need to End Domestic Violence"

Tatiana Dokhotaru's Tragic Story and the Need to End Domestic Violence"

In this episode, we delve into the tragic story of Tatiana Dokhotaru, a 34-year-old woman who lost her life in a heartbreaking case of domestic violence. Joining us today is Amber, Tatiana's best friend, who provides us with a firsthand account of the events leading up to this devastating incident.

Tatiana Dokhotaru's life took a dark turn when she made a distress call to the emergency services. However, due to the lack of specific details provided during the call, the police were unable to pinpoint her location among the 297 units in the tower block in Liverpool. It took nearly 24 hours before Tatiana's body was discovered in her Sydney apartment, thanks to the alertness of a concerned neighbor.

The primary suspect in this case is Danny Zayat, Tatiana's estranged partner. He is currently in custody, facing charges related to domestic violence, including assault, stalking, and causing damage to property. However, the investigation is still ongoing, with the police treating Tatiana's death as suspicious.

The response of the authorities to the initial distress call has raised significant questions about the effectiveness of their actions. A critical incident investigation has been launched to examine the response and determine the identity of the anonymous caller. The scrutiny of the police's handling of the situation is necessary to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

During the bail hearing, Zayat's family displayed disturbing behavior, leaving Tatiana's friend feeling terrified and trapped. However, the denial of bail for Zayat provided a sense of relief for Tatiana's family, as it restored their faith in the justice system.

Tatiana Dokhotaru was a beautiful, kind, and compassionate person, as described by her friend Amber. Her tragic story serves as a reminder of the urgency to address and end domestic violence. It is crucial that we take action to support victims, raise awareness about the signs of abuse, and promote healthy relationships.
