"Restored From Self Mutilation by God and Prayer!" with Patricia E. Wiggins-Plummer. Repeat Episode
The trauma that we experience can cause us deep interior pain. That pain can remain bottled up inside or be displayed outwardly in unhealthy ways. Self-Mutilation is the mutilation of oneself, especially as a symptom of mental or emotional disturbance or to cause physical harm to oneself from some sort of trauma. Latonia's guest for December's First Sunday Conversation lived with a terrible secret that she learned to hide for many years. Please listen in as Patricia E. Wiggins-Plummer discusses a time in her life that she was in a very low place, but through her belief in God and having a strong prayer life, she made it and her secret became her testimony.  Check out Latonia's First Sunday Conversation with Patricia here on A Woman's Soul; Restored.

"A Legal Perspective!" with Attorney Susan M. Omilian
There have been many prolific events that have taken place over the years with sexual trauma and domestic violence; even to the point of domestic violence being coined that term. The legalaties of the system have not always been favorable toward a woman that was in the midst of a traumatic event. Over the years, there have been successes and failures in the areas of crimes against women, and the lacking of after care, leaving her feeling lost and sometimes confused about how she should feel and what to do to get back on track. Finding a light after sexual trauma can be very difficult if a woman has to do it alone. Latonia's guest Susan Omilian is a trailblazer in the area of helping women reclaiming their lives after abuse from start to finish and aftercare. Listen in on the conversation as they discuss Susan's long-standing career, the work she has done as an attorney advocating for women, and the hundreds of women she has helped to Thrive as they discuss, "A Legal Perspective!"

"Still Standing!" with Aeriel White
As children, we are taught to listen to our parents/adults, do well in school, and to be good boys and girls. The parent(s) job is to love and protect; to provide and to be that comfortable place when we fall. The lessons that we learn as a child are supposed to equip us for the future but what if those lessons were learned because we had to grow up fast? Learned because the role of the parent became our role? What if we learned that we had to sacrifice ourselves for the well-being of others when we should have been outside playing with our friends? Season 2 Episode 24 guest Aeriel White discusses with Latonia what it felt like having reversed roles as a very young girl and how her early beginnings of abuse, neglect, and being failed by multiple systems equipped her for what she is doing in her life today. Join the conversation as they talk about, "Still Standing!"

Cringes, Scars, and Things That Makes You Say, "Oh My!" Commentary with Latonia Hendry
An emotional grinding of bones can be described as a Cringe. A bottomless pit of an unexplainable emotion that carries a crushing wave of agony that singes through joy and happiness and leaves you temporary debilitated. Scars; physical reminisces of an healed up action from a perpetrator that forever bears its mark from someone else on your body. The personification of them looking at you daily with no regret; but you wear the burden. Looking at a crippling memory in a physical state. This week, Latonia gives commentary on the lasting effects of Cringes, Scars, and Things that Makes You Say, "Oh My! She also gives her personal story of her Cringe and Scar moments and some from her former guest.

"In the Thick of It!" with Ashley Michelle
There are some instances where the situational trauma is just as bad, or worse, than the event trauma. These are instances that would not have happened if we were not in a particular place, or with certain people/person, that lead to drastic circumstances that causes both situational and event trauma. As we think back over the emotional and sexual stressors that have happened in our lives, we may even look at the situation and see that if our choices were different then our outcome may have also been different as well. This week Latonia, and her guest social media maven and rising TicToc star Ashley Michelle, discuss her traumatic event-which is a first for this podcast-and how her life has been after her traumatic event and how she uses her platforms to raise awareness.

"God Blocked It And He Would Not Let Me Go!" With Tamara Brown-Hodges
There are severe traumas that we are mentally protected from by a blockage of certain memories that would otherwise cause more harm than good. These moments in time, for a period, are better forgotten than remembered. One medical term for this phenomenon is called Traumatic Dissociative Amnesia (TDA) meaning the brain has a protective mechanism and pockets some stressful memories to preserve the mental state of a person. Sometimes these memories are hidden for a short term, but 87 percent of patients that remembered their traumatic event experienced TDA for decades. A medical diagnosis is one way to explain this occurance, but some believe that this is a way that God provides His Divine Protection by blocking the stressed memories of a person. November's First Sunday Conversations with A Woman's Soul Restored, Latonia and her guest Tamara Brown-Hodges, discuss recovered memories of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and the adulthood feelings and emotions associated with supressed memories that have been remembered. Tamara will also be giving away a copy of her book.

"Let Me Prey Upon You!" with Sandy Phillips Kirkham
There are incidents of abuse that, as a society, we have become desensitized to because we have become numb to some particular acts of violence. We have heard so many tramatic events until nothing shocks us anymore but there are instances of, not the act, but the role of the perpretrator that now gives us uncertain feelings about whom we can trust. Someone in political office, school system, and the church should be regarded more stearnly when they cross the line from protector to perpetrator; but that is not always the case. This week, Latonia and her guest Sandy Phillips Kirkham discuss such an instance of a perpertrator being someone in high regard and what happened to Sandy's life in the aftermath of her traumatic ordeal as they discuss, "Let Me Prey Upon You!"

"Restored From Living A Double Life!" with Alison Bacon
We can be living our lives in a productive manner of working, taking care of our families, and just trying to get by day to day. To the outside observer, everything can be fine, and we can look normal. We blend in with others well in this sometimes routinely existance we call LIFE. Sometimes though, there is something deeper going on behind closed doors that is not obvious to the natural eye. The doors hold dark secrets and the walls contain the sights that the outside have no idea is going on. This week, Latonia has a discussion with her guest Alison Bacon as she talks openly about what she endured during her bout with Domestic Violence. They will be discussing, "Restored From Living A Double Life!"

"The Soul of Science" with Charlene Jones
When we hear the word 'science', or even think of it, our minds can transport to the intellectual proponets of foundational studies, experiments, chemistry labs, test tubes, and ofcourse data analysis. Measured activity focused on the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observations, and other principles, to explain the sometimes unexplainable. Charlene Jones is an award-winning author, podcaster, studier and future practioner of 'Havening', and an innovator that realizes there is another proponent to science, and because of recent discoveries, the thought of science does not have to be so 'matter-of-factly' or impersonal but can be thought of outside of the box and used to aid in helping others survive Trauma. Latonia and Charlene will get into the conversation of 'The Soul of Science!'

We can have a situation that can seem impossible and we may feel that we have no way out. Those situations can then multiply and intensify by other things happening that may compound our feelings of sadness and leave us drowning in our sorrows and woes. This week, Latonia talks about finding possible results from impossible situations. There is light at the end of the darkness. The sun will shine in the midst of our cloudiness; we just need to find it!

"Coaching Conversations For Change!" with Lois Wagner
There are many times that, when you are feeling negative, have a situation, or just need to decompress, that finding a good friend to talk to can be comforting and therapeutic. It is also a bonus when that friend, or even family member, can make you laugh and forget about the thing you are going through; if only for a moment. What if your friend helped you with your situation by telling you stories about their life? What if we can find all of this in a Coach? This week, Latonia's guest is Lois Wagner from Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a Coach and Training Facilitator that has a unique way of bringing comfort through conversations for real and effective change. Lois will be telling her personal story and how her business was derived from a tragedy. How being resilient has helped her to take her life lessons and use them as tools to help and empower others. Listen in as Latonia and Sabrina discuss, "Education, Safety, Business; Having A Love For It All!" This recording was no different but both Host and Guest persevered through, and once they got going, the interview was a wealth of information with a passion-filled episode. Latonia apologizes for all interruptions and thanks Sabrina for being so very understanding. This is real life with real occurances but the information shared overrides any glitches due to human and technological errors!

One of the damages that trauma causes is when good things happen, the good and the trauma are sharing the same space within, so good things cannot be enjoyed and the bad overshadows everything. There can be a prolonged continuance of emotional degrees of staying in the moment of trauma. Hi's and low's manifest together. This week Latonia, and her guest Transformational Coach Jen Bridwell Oppenheim, discuss the importance of seeing good; even when bad things happen. They also have a discussion surrounding Jen's area of expertise; food, eating, and body image.

"Restoration Through Acceptance" with Author Kimberly Ann Bell
When we go through a tramatic experience, a part of us suffers a death. That death emcompasses the loss of whatever we are mourning because of a rape, sexual abuse, molestation, etc. Grief has five (5) stages. The last stage is acceptance. Until we accept the things that have happen to us, we cannot fully be Healed and Restored. For the first installment of First Sunday Conversations, Latonia has an open and candid discussion with Author and Inspirational Speaker Kimberly Ann Bell as she discusses the traumatic occurance that happened in her life and her new book, "The Epitome of Kimmy: Accept and Embrace It All!"

This week, Latonia's guest Bracha Goetz is the author of 40 children books that speaks to the souls of children and she is empowering them through books.

There are a large number of studies that show that prepetrators were once victims themselves. There are situations that can cause a shift to happen in a victim and they become the thing they hated. The Trauma of Secrets!
It can be funny to think that something so innocent as a secret can cause so much hurt, sadness, and heartache; but then there is nothing innocent about some secrets. Keeping a secret, in some instances, can be detrimental not only when a situation is occuring but even much later as the realization of the secret is exposed. This week, Latonia discusses the magnitude of levels that secrets, in abusive situations, can cause and the trauma that is inflicted.

Where Is She?
There is a sickness and maliciousness that occurs in an adult that molests, violates, or abuses a child in any manner, but there is a particular circumstance that can be occuring in a childs' life that causes them to be more subjectable to a prepetrator. What should be looked at as more protection for children in this situation can be used as an opportunity to harm them. This week Latonia address a very serious occurance, or reoccurance, that can be happening to a child that can leave them in the hands of the closest of vileness.

Time Does Not Necessarily Heal All Wounds
We have been led into thinking that, if enough time passes by, we will be ok. Time can be our disfunctional friend and having that status means that we have to know how to deal with our friend. Dates can be triggers for memories. We can relate to a date of a traumatic event and it can put us in a bad place. As that date approaches, we can experience mental and psychological changes. We may cannot explain it but we definately experience it. This week, Latonia discusses dates in time and the effect it can have on us. The significance of the date that a traumatic event happens stays engrained in us. We do not have to suppress it but we do need to manage it!

Why Do We Have to Tallk About ‘It’?
This is the question that some may ask about the topic of Sexual Truma, Abuse, Domestic Violence, etc.. That maybe if we just do not talk about it, or because it is not in the forefront, that it is not that important. There is a misconception that it is really not happening that much, and there are way more important issues that can be discussed, so why even spend time on a topic that is not that relevant to current events or may only affect a small population?  This week, Latonia address this very subject, why we have to keep the conversations going, and why these issues are so important to her.

Your Authentic Self!
When we go through a tramatic event as an adult, it can destroy your life as you knew it. Faces become the enemy, locations become bad memories, and our mind can put us in a place of unrest mentally and physically. You are still you in the midst of it all; you just have to reconnect with HER. What can we do to reclaim our authenticity? How can we move forward when we do not feel like moving at all? What should we do first? Who can we trust? This week, Latonia will discuss how to reclaim your Authentic Self.

When the Past becomes the Present
As we overcome traumatic situations, either from our childhood or adult lives, we can feel a sense of normalcy by being able to live productive lives.  We may have thoughts occasionally of what took place in our lives, but the past is tucked back in our minds and we are able to push through to be an active and present individual; or so we thought. What if we had a reoccurance? What if something happens to bring us smack back facing our past? What should we do? What can we do?  This week, Latonia will tackle the subject of a resurfaced traumatic event and how the past can make a full circle in our lives.

When Your Past Infiltrates Your Present!
When we are going through a current trial or situation, we can get so troubled until our Past resurfaces itself back into our Now; it can be that stronghold that pulls us back to a place of vulnerability. As we navigate this thing called Life, it is important to remember that our day-to-day living can be difficult enough without resurging past memories or feeling stuck in current abuse. We do not have to muddle everything together either from our past or currently.

Children and Domestic Abuse
When we go through sexual trauma, particularly domestic violence, the people we are trying to protect end up being the main people we hurt; our children. The children that we think are not listening, that they are sleeping, that we have covered them....that is not true. Their innocence is taken and they are forced to grow up way too soon. Making sure that we not only get aftercare but that the children do as well so that they can become well-adjusted and productive adults. They do not stay little, so our decisions must not be emotional but what is conducive to what best for them.

From Victim to Victory
There comes a time, in between being victimized and encompassing your victory, when there is an uncertainty that can be confusing and have you questioning or even doubting yourself. The limbo of emotions that are felt right after making the decision not to be a Victim anymore can set up how you get to your Victory.  The two words have the first four letters in common, but that is all. Just like these two words start off the same but end differently, it is how you end that makes a world of difference and not the commanality of what you may have gone through!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month – “A Window Without A View”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, advocates across the nation come together to end domestic violence. As advocates, we understand that this fight is a daily one to help victims become survivors and to protect lives, but in October, the focus is more intent, and many events and activities are planned many months in advance. My book, "A Window Without A View" is about a very dark time in my life living in an abusive marriage but also remembering the molestation that happened to me as a child. This book is more serious than, 'Issues of the Heart-Male; When His Issues Become Your Issues' because the occurances in were on a more mature level. The book is about living your life but not really seeing your situation. A Window Without A View

Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, But Words Can Pierce The Soul
Somewhere along the lines of an old wives tale about, "...words can never hurt me", we have found out that is a lie. Verbal abuse can cause just as much harm as physical abuse, but because words are seen as trivial and harmless, we do not take verbal abuse seriously. The tongue can be a vile little creature, and when the ones we love use words to hurt us, it cuts deeper than any physical scar can. Words are a double-edged sword; they can help or harm."Use your words to heal not hurt!" Latonia Hendry

When His Issues Become Your Issues
When we correlate traumatic events that have happened to us, and compare it to issues that our partners may have, they fit together. Especially in intimate or parental relationships, issues of the males in our lives may seem like a heart issue, but it is a mind facet that connects their mental issue with our heart in a negative way. It is a heart issue for us because of how we were created as women. We have a yearning to be fixers, but at some point, we can become the recipient of the issue. "Live to tell your story. Do not become a statistic; do not be spoken of in the past tense!" Latonia Hendry

The Silent Weapon of Destruction
According to Psychology Today, as many as 70% of adults and 52% of children suffer from Depression as a result of recently being removed from an abusive situation. In a 7-10 year case study, those numbers increase by 9% in adults and 12% in adolescents up to age 19 and young people up to age 24. When we are experiencing abuse, or just getting out of a toxic relationship, we do not fully grasp the severity of what is or has happened because we have a self-mechanism to 'numb' ourselves to adapt and accept. As time goes by, and we realize fully what has taken place, the hurt and shame may bring on depression or even a deeper depression. The numbers are also higher because children do not tell sometimes until their teen years or even adulthood. Women sometimes feel that stigma of blame as well and do not come forward until years later. This is also true of children whom have grown up in abusive homes. There is hope for a better tomorrow not filled with disturbing thoughts and images that may cause our mental health to become imbalanced. Refining for a greater purpose
This introductory podcast of A Woman's Soul Restored will focus on how repressed hurt can manifest in your life presently.  Pain, that has not been addressed, has a way of showing up when you least expect it. Life is more than existing, but hurt and pain causes you to do just that; exist. Life is to be lived with purpose and joy, and not just going through repetitive motions just to get to the next day.  Choosing to move beyond your past does not mean that you forget, but it does mean that you can use your past to achieve a wonderful future of acceptance and continuing to grow."The negative occurrences that may have happened in our past does not define us but refines us for a greater purpose!"
