Ep 3. Pushing past stereotypes to succeed in business
My guest for this episode is CJ Devereux an inspirational young woman who will share her story of how she pushed past gender bias and bullying in the civil construction industry to becoming a successful business owner and female leader in this space. She shares the key elements to her success that every leader can learn from.
Ep 2. How Leaders can shift the Culture around Self Care
So many people in the pride themselves on putting others first, so it’s no surprise that our data shows that there's a large gap in self-care in leaders especially those from the Care and Health Industries. The difficulties around self-care don’t only come directly from the individual staff members, though. Problems also arise from the culture set by leaders in organisations.
If someone has a day off or takes a bit of a longer break, even if they really need it, this is often frowned upon. In the short-term, this can certainly be very frustrating for the rest of the team and may negatively impact on everyone else’s workload, and yet, ultimately, the culture of self-sacrifice is damaging for everyone.
In this episode leaders will;
- Hear stories of how self sacrifice plays out across lots of industries
- Reflect on how they unintentionally impact on the self care culture
- Reflect on their own 'view' of self care
- Receive some practical tips on how to role model self care to their teams

Ep 1 How Psychological Safety improves Regrettable Turnover
Turnover rates are high at the moment, a team I was working with last week in the care sector has had a 100% turnover in their middle management level in the past 12months- the costs to the organisation is massive not to mention the impacts on teams due to inconsistent leadership etc.
Now the common response I hear with the industries I work with is that they just cant compete with the salary’s other competitors are offering. If I had a dollar for every time I heard this I reckon I could buy myself something nice; look this may be true however there is something that drives people to even look for opportunities outside of their current workplace in the first place. Once they start looking then they may see that extra 10k is the nudge they need to move on but what drives people to look for another job in the first place is what organisations need to pay attention to.
One of the biggest factors we are uncovering as to why people are leaving is due to psychological safety and not feeling included.
Tune into this podcast to hear about:
- What Psychological Safety and Inclusivity is
- Signs when psychological safety is low
- Impacts on individuals, teams and organisations when Psych Safety is low
- What the greatest contributor to turnover is
- the number 1 tool for measuring psychological safety
