About the Winelands welcome the Founding member of Studio Antiques, Emmeke van der Meulen.  The Studio Antiques team, are trained and dedicated in providing conservation and restoration of antique and fine furniture using only traditional, natural, authentic reversible products and techniques.  Studio Antiques respect each and every piece of furniture to retain its value during restoration and/or conservation process. Since establishment in 1990, their continued dedicated passion today is to maintain a high standard of ethics and professionalism, promoting the restoration and preservation of our heritage in South Africa.

Started as a trainee at Terroir Restaurant under the supervision of Michael Broughton. Then I travelled abroad to Peebles in Scotland, where I got to work at a Boutique hotel and restaurant with their own fresh produce garden. That is where my love for fresh seasonal food started. After returning to South Africa I have worked my way through a few wine farms such as Big Easy, Cuvee @ Simonsig and as Head Chef at Babel@ Babylonstoren before joining Longtable Restaurant as Head of kitchen in September 2018. I have been a chef for almost 14 years, and still loving it!"

It is our long-held view that great wines taste their best with good food, and whenever possible in good company. We created Longtable not as a glittering showpiece of authentic Cape cuisine, but as a place where unpretentious, flavoursome food could be enjoyed in a relaxing and convivial setting. We like to think that Longtable is all of this and more. With our supply of organic vegetables and sustainable fish, we are able to provide not only delicious food, but food which is sustainably sourced, with minimum waste, and zero use of plastics.

About The Winelands welcomes Heidi Dietstein, Winemaker at Spier located in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  Heidi specializes in making Methode Cap Classique and Premium - Super premium red wines. Spier is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms with a recorded history dating back to 1692. While rooted in this heritage, they have a vibrant and conscious energy, and are home to one of the largest collections of contemporary South African art.

About The Winelands welcomes Pieter "Bubbles" Ferreira, GRAHAM BECK situated in Robertson, South Africa.  The foundations for the success of the Graham Beck brand were laid in 1983 when the late Graham Beck purchased Madeba, a farm located outside the Western Cape town of Robertson. It was his ardent ambition to establish a world-class winery in this area that saw the erection of a state-of-the-art cellar and groundbreaking tasting facility, ensuring the growing reputation of Graham Beck MCC as a leading international wine destination.  Affectionately known as “Mr Bubbles”, Pieter Ferreira eats, drinks and breathes bubbles! Pieter has been with the team from the very first vintage and has been instrumental in cementing Graham Beck as one of the world’s leading producers of premium Méthode Cap Classique style sparkling wines.

About The Winelands welcomes Matthew Day, Winemaker at Klein Constantia situated in Constantia, South Africa. Dating back to 1685 and described as one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates, Klein Constantia is set amidst ancient trees on the upper foothills of the Constantiaberg, with views across False Bay. The perfect location for cool climate wines, Klein Constantia produces some of South Africa’s top wines, including one of the world’s best natural sweet wines, Vin de Constance.  

ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Emma Bruwer, Winemaker at Le Lude Estate situated in Franschhoek, South Africa.  Le Lude, a wine farm in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley of South Africa’s Western Cape, follows an ethos committed to its founding family and the crafting of naturally bottle-fermented sparkling wines, known as Cap Classique. 

Here the Barrow family have made their home, writing a new chapter in a premier wine region where French Huguenots, fleeing persecution for their religious beliefs, landed in the Cape and began making wines in Franschhoek as far back as 1693.  The pioneering approach of Le Lude is underscored by it being the first cellar to produce an Agrafe® (Tirage Liège) Cap Classique, paving the way for a sector of the South African wine industry on the road to greatness. 

About The Winelands welcomes Lukas Wentzel, Winemaker at Groote Post, situated in the Darling Hills of South Africa. Lukas has been winemaker at Groote Post since 2000 where Groote Post has grown from strength to strength with him at the helm. Groote Post is a historic 18th century farm on the Cape's West Coast where winemaking traditions have been revived by the Pentz family, third and fourth generation dairymen, namely Peter and Nick Pentz.   

ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Callan Williams, founder and winemaker, "The Garajeest", South Africa.  The Garajeest is a premium, handcrafted wine brand. Focused on the unconventional and a creative spirit, Callan’s dream of making wine that has edge, authenticity, character and convincingly translates the honest and down to earth character of the cultivar, is now being realised. The Garajeest Cabernet Franc & The Garajeest Semillon - both produced in limited numbers - are inspired by icons that embody a time and movement that resonates with the unique taste profile of each vintage. The Garajeest creates wines that are cultivar expressive and terroir driven, with minimal intervention in the cellar. Vintages driven by quality and intrigue - wines that tell a story full of life.  

About The Winelands welcomes Martin Cahnbley, Founder of Planet Wine, New Zealand.  He was born in Germany and grew up in South Africa.  "I was lucky enough to attend the University of Cape Town, close to some of the most beautiful and welcoming vineyards and wineries in the world.  I started collecting red wines from the exceptional 1978 South African vintage and the cellar continues to grow.  I have been involved in marketing roles in the wine industry in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and further afield since 1987, and founded Planet Wine in 2003."

About The Winelands welcomes Erica Taylor, Founder of Uncorkified.com.  Erica is an Independent PR & Marketing Professional since 2009 with over 16 years of international industry experience and Wine industry focused since 2017.    Erica has lived in New York, Mumbai and currently resides Cape Town, South Africa.

BLAKE FAMILY WINES - Owners Andries & Marinda Blake have a commitment to quality and are passionate about crafting exceptional wines. They nurture their wines and create gems. This philosophy has led to naming their two flagship blends after semi-precious stones – Tourmaline and Amethyst.  

About The Wineland welcomes Gerhard van der Watt, the Chief Executive Officer of Perdeberg Wines, situated in Paarl, South Africa.  Perdeberg Cellar has one primary mission: “To create wines of excellence and difference.”  Valuing long term relationships and seeking to establish value added relationships beyond the obvious.  

ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Deidre Taylor, the Sales and Marketing Manager for Kanonkop Wine Estate which is situated in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  Kanonkop is a 4th generation family-owned estate, which has been handed down from generation to generation and is now in the hands of brothers Paul and Johann Krige. The name Kanonkop is derived from a hillock (kop) on the Simonsberg mountain above the estate from where, during the 17th and 18th centuries, a cannon (kanon) was fired to announce the arrival of sailing ships entering Table Bay.   

Based on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, Late Bloomer Boutique Winery handcrafts every bottle, making each bottle a unique experience with its own story. Every Vintage is carefully planned to be special and different from every other vintage. Late Bloomer's vision is to bring together family and friends drinking good wine, creating stories and lasting memories. ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Zunia Boucher-Myers, Co-Owner and Chef at the Avontuur Estate Restaurant in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  Owner chefs Melanie Paltoglou and Zunia share their passion for food alongside their passion for people, cooking from the heart on the magnificent Avontuur wine estate and stud farm.  Eighteen years of 'good looking cooking'.  

ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Paul de Villiers, owner of Landskroon Wine Estate, Paarl in South Africa.  Landskroon is situated along the southwestern slopes of Paarl Mountain, just 40 minutes from Cape Town and right in the heart of the Cape Winelands.     

The De Meye Estate is a family-owned boutique winery, situated in the lush Mulservlei area on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, South Africa's most prestigious wine making region. This special little spot of earth has been home- and farming ground to the Myburgh family for five generations, with the estate being named after the De Meye river in Holland, the birthplace of the first Myburgh, who came to farm in South Africa in 1665. We are proud that despite current industry trends, we have remained a privately-owned estate, keeping up the original spirit, and staying true to authentic and sustainable winemaking and business practices.  

L’Avenir’s rich history dates back to the late 1600s, when the estate was one of the very first sites identified for grape growing by the Cape’s earliest European settlers.  

About The Winelands welcomes Rijk Melck from Muratie Wine Estate, tucked into the exquisite Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch.  Muratie has a desire to protect a century’s old wine experience that is a magnet for wine lovers around the world.    

About The Winelands welcomes Rob and Chris Boustred from Remhoogte Wine Estate on the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  

A family owned and run estate, Chris Boustred says “We would like people who drink our wines to experience the estate, our soils, our slopes, our vines and our terroir. Wine should be experienced and not merely drunk and we endeavour to make every bottle of our wine a memorable experience.  

Mellasat Vineyards was created by the Richardson family in 1996 from the original farm Dekkersvlei which was established in 1693. Located near Paarl, in the heart of South Africa’s famous winelands just 45 mins from Cape Town. The vineyard enjoys a spectacular position under the dramatic Klein Drakenstein mountains together with panoramic views of the Paarl and its famous granite domes.  

The Rustenberg Estate has a rich history dating back to 1682 and by 1781, around 3000 cases of wine were produced on the farm.   The Estate is nestled in the valley of the Simonsberg Mountain which is located in South Africa’s premium wine region, Stellenbosch.  A magnificent setting with regular Cape Leopard sightings via Game camera's installed across the estate.

In 1941 Peter and Pamela Barlow bought Rustenberg, later acquiring Schoongezicht and reuniting the properties. Their son Simon took over the running of the farm in 1987. Simon’s son, Murray, joined in the running of the farm with his father in 2012. The Barlows have been at Rustenberg for over 70 years: the longest period any one family has owned the farm.

About The Winelands chats to Johannes Richter, Journalist at Wineland Media, a division of VinPro which is the representative organisation for South African wine cellars and wine grape producers.    WineLand Media is a division of VinPro which is an organisation representivity of South African wine cellars and grape producers.  They have a wide subscriber base which includes 2 150 producers and wineries, 750 winemakers, 210 viticulturists, educational institutions, media, key directors and managers, advertising agencies/representatives, as well as suppliers to the industry.    

The Devon Valley Hotel is tucked away in a tranquil corner of the Winelands, boasting some of the most breathtaking views of hotels in Stellenbosch. Most of the fifty stylishly furnished rooms offer simply spectacular views across vineyards and olive groves towards the Helderberg in the distance.  

Meet Charles Back, Owner and Winemaker Fairview Wine and Cheese, located in Paarl, South Africa   

Charles Back, from lineage of great entrepreneurs, innovators and winemakers, took full responsibility for the farm in 1995 after it being in the family since 1902.  Wanting to do things differently, he introduced Mediterranean grapes such as Viognier, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah to the Cape. He also began to make artisanal cheese – a business that has gone on to become every bit as prestigious and successful as wine. In 2014 Charles received the International Wine Challenge Lifetime Achievement and recognised as the most awarded winemaker in South Africa

Uncork was birthed in 2017 by Fred Hart. What started as a personal memory bank quickly snowballed and became a passion-project. Craftsmanship is the central element around which all content is created for Uncork SA.

Highlighting and promoting the amazing wine and spirits industry, and some of the characters behind the "liquid art". Over time this evolved to include Luxury accommodation, fine glassware and cigars which naturally fit.
