This isn’t really a history podcast.  Well, at least not in the way you might expect.

Because this is the real story, behind the story you might have heard.

The story of the dirty deals, the gambling, the duels, the money, the power, the scandal, the wounded egos… and the rum.

The streets were sticky with the stuff.

It was never going to end well, and when it all blew up, it’d make history.

You might know it as the Rum Rebellion - a blokey spat over who was in charge.  But that’s like saying the Melbourne Cup’s just a horse race, or that Donald Trump was just the 45th President of the United States. 

There’s a bit more to it than that.  And the story behind it - the story you don’t know - is much, much juicier than the one you do.
