Things turned around for him in a big way after the TV series exposed his talent to multitudes of new fans, and he moved around from Florida to Texas to Los Angeles over the next several years, building communities of faith and releasing albums and EPs of his own solo music” (AllMusic.com). LIVE – WED., MAY 25, 2022. This episode will feature inspirational music, positive inspirations, and the phenomenal and talented Kareema Al-Shabazz! Kareema Al- Shabazz has always displayed a passion for the Arts, as can be testified, by those within her home community of Carenage. The young, Trinidad-born, Singer/Songwriter, Dancer, Spoken Word Poet, Upcoming recording Artist, and mother of one (1) began her journey of songwriting at the age of nine (9) years old but has always had a desire to sing, which was nurtured, in her earlier childhood years, by her grandmother’s (“Gran Gran”) passionate style of singing Gospel Hymns to Jesus at any time of the day and night. Her teenage life filled with depression, aggression, and hard-learned lessons resulted in the unplanned birth of her daughter at the age of seventeen (17) years, and shortly after this life-altering event, she surrendered to the Lord, desperately seeking a way out of the pit she dug herself after all other options proved to be futile. Mere days after her First ‘Carnival Camp experience in 2018, she was transformed by the Tremendous grace of God upon her life through, what can only be described as a Divine Encounter. Another medium being, through the extreme illumination of THE WORD OF GOD, which she once stubbornly rejected and claimed to have refuted, now became her salvation, passion, and the main source of inspiration in her songwriting. Her 1st New Hit Single “Samson’s Riddle”, inspired by Judges 14, depicts her remarkable style of writing and peculiar tone; for which, listeners call her the “Erykah Badu” of Gospel music, was released on 18th September 2019, and debuted on the 23rd September 2019, at the ‘UNCOMMON RELOADED’ concert held by Mr. Jaron Nurse, and has ministered on the same stage with artists such as Samuel Medas, “Blessed Messenger” and “Positive”, was for her, nothing short of the Lord’s Blessing. The young, and very talented Ms. Al- Shabazz intends to write, record, and release more music that will bolster the word of God, and Bless the hearts of Men, as long as the Lord permits her, to be used for His Honor and Glory. LIVE – WED., MAY 4, 2022. This episode will feature inspirational music, positive inspirations, and THE MIGHTY WHISPERS, for the INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC HIGHLIGHT! One of R&B Musics most beloved and consistently popular vocal groups, the platinum-selling song stylists known as The Whispers are remembered for #1 R&B crossover songs such as “Rock Steady” and “And the Beat Goes On” just as well as they are known for their classic slow jams such as “Lady” and “In the Mood.” Now, they are about to explode in the dance market with GRAMMY® Award winning DJ Maurice Joshua’s Steppers and House remixes of the group’s 2009 gem, “Praise His Holy Name” (Kingdom Records). As they approach their sixth decade in the music business, the Whispers are ensuring that the beat goes on. Maurice Joshua, who has remixed a who’s who in Pop music ranging from Missy Elliott to Janet Jackson, won a GRAMMY® Award for his remix of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.” He takes the Whispers’ gospel track “Praise His Holy Name” and creates two alluring remixes. The first is a smooth, uptown Chicago Steppers’ groove and the second is a full House groove. Over the years, several of the group’s songs have hit Billboard’s dance charts. “One for the Money” was their first entry in 1976 and 1984’s “Contagious” was the last entry. After 50 R&B chart singles, seven gold and two platinum albums; The Whispers recorded the inspirational album, Thankful (Kingdom Records), in 2009 as a way of paying their gratitude to their fans and to God. The album, produced by gospel great Fred Hammond, peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and remained on the survey for 45 weeks. Its success was propelled by the silky soulful radio single “Thou Art with Me.” The group performed songs from the project on television programs such as BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel” and “The Mo’Nique Show.” “There’s a constant reminder when you see people come out in vast numbers and spend their hard-earned dollars to see you,” Nick once said. “They are a blessing to you. They don’t have to love you and your music. God has been really good to The Whispers. He was looking out for us when we were ignoring Him. We lived long enough for him to allow us to make this [gospel music] to inspire people to get closer to God.” Aside from numerous GRAMMY®, American Music, and Soul Train Music Award nominations, the group has earned an NAACP Image Award, the Recording Academy’s San Francisco Chapter GRAMMY® Governor’s Award, and they have been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Carol Chisolm is a singer, songwriter, author, and speaker. Her inspiring lyrics and powerful vocals leave listeners wanting more. She is truly an anointed singer, who ushers listeners into the presence of the Lord with her captivating tones. Her lyrics are life changing and relatable, which has earned her the honor of being named Songwriter of the Month (July 2020) by Nashville Christian Songwriters, International. She was one of the top five finalist in the 2021 You God’s Music Talent Showcase. Carol serves as the worship leader for the Clear Vision Conference, and has opened for gospel artists, such as Dorothy Norwood, and LaShun Pace. Carol’s debut CD, “Let Jesus Fix It for You”, brought her international acclaim. This nine song CD of original songs breathes life into her listeners. A beautiful mix of traditional urban (R&B feeling) plus CCM (pop feeling) Gospel music, this contemporary Christian album shines out from its inspired lyrics and Chisolm's stunning voice. The music video for the high-spirited, up-tempo single, “I Feel the Spirit Moving”, was in rotation on several channels including The Word Network’s, “Video Gospel Show”. In 2019, Carol released her long awaited single and music video, “Wonderfully Made”. It was inspired by her long journey with alopecia. She calls herself a survivor after suffering many years with this autoimmune disorder, which results in hair loss. She coined the phrase “I have alopecia, but it doesn’t have me” to remind her that her identity is in Christ and not a reflection in the mirror. In 2021, she released her single, “Rolled Away”, a powerful song to remind us of the power of the Resurrection. Carol has done it again with her newest single “Let Us Breathe” and “Love Is The Cure”, both inspired by the murder of George Floyd. We should take a breath and realize it’s not the color of our skin that defines us, but the character of the person, and the only way to conquer hatred is through the love of God. You can find all Carol’s music on all music streaming platforms. OH OH OH! This episode is going to be OOOOHHHmazin! The queen is here to show us what it looks like to deal in life with grace! LIVE – WED., OCTOBER 6, 2021. This episode will feature inspirational music, positive inspirations, and AMY SINHA. Join us as Amy takes us through her journey of perseverance, desire, and unwillingness to give up on her dreams. This successful musician and voiceover coach experienced some rare medical conditions in her early years, being declared as being one out of only 5 children like her in the U.K. She had developed cataracts in both her eyes leaving her almost blind, and then diagnosed with a rare nerve condition which meant she was unable to feel hot, cold or superficial pain. Due to this nerve condition, she also developed Osteoarthritis leaving her almost wheelchair bound and caused her growth to stop completely at 11. The ongoing traumas of her early childhood inevitably played a major role in suppressing Amy’s confidence throughout her life, especially being so short during an age when all a child wants to do is “fit in”, and certainly not stand out because they looked so different. Determined, Amy attended Gorseinon College where she studied Music and Music Technology A-levels. Amy went on to graduate from Leeds College of Music with a BA (Hons) Degree in music specializing in Jazz, an achievement that she never dreamed was possible. Amy decided to explore something different, and embarked on a sidestep into voice overs. This author certainly has not had an idle life. A couple of years out of college and he started doing things and going places he never would have expected. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays, and even a movie. Between personal growth and improv, he found this weird realm called expectations. And while most people would shy away from such a thing, he decided to tackle it head-on. Along his journey, he decided that “the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation hasn’t been met.” From there, he noticed that there has to be a way to use that upset feeling to fix the situation. And he created the amazing “How to stop being upset” flow chart. From there it was a simple step of taking everything that he has explored on the subject and put it in a book called, “What to Expect when Having Expectations.” He is here with us to talk about this endeavor! Welcome to the episode that will show what it means to EXPECT AND DEMAND GREATNESS from your life. Our guests here are the example of what it means to defy the odds, and land on your feet. Sometimes in life we are not dealt the best cards, but it is on us to make the best out of the gift we have been given - LIFE. What Sun Studios is to Memphis, Gold Star is to Houston, and Malaco is to Jackson, Mississippi, Raymarkable Studio is to Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Some of the finest in traditional gospel music over the past 20 years has flowed out of Raymarkable Studio and its founder, the producer, musician, singer, and songwriter Ray Braswell Jr. Born in Rocky Mount in 1979, Braswell was raised in a churchgoing family that loved music, especially traditional gospel. Surrounded by music and attending the church pastored by recording artist Dr. Thomas L. Walker (“One Day at a Time”), it was no surprise that young Braswell aspired to make it in the music industry. By age fifteen, Braswell, an aspiring drummer, transformed his parents’ garage into a recording studio. Armed with a Tascam 424 four-track mixer, he produced his first record, by a local female duo called Little Alice and Penny. Braswell gained significant industry experience by singing with the Revivers, a quartet formed by former Sensational Nightingales lead vocalist Charles Johnson. He also toured for a time with the Canton Spirituals and with quartet maven Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson. In 2001, Braswell upgraded his four-track Tascom to a sixteen-track console and christened it by producing Tribute to Quartet Legends for Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson and the Spiritual Voices. “That was the record that really did a lot for my brand and for my studio,” Braswell says. “It opened the door for me.” “In the end,” Ray Braswell Jr. says, “it’s not about the engineer and it’s not about the studio. It’s about the artists and making them comfortable. That’s what I try to do.” And that’s the gospel truth. TOGETHER these two have continued to fight for who they are and what they believe in. Denita has been recently nominated for Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and Female Artist of the Year by the KIA 2020 Awards. -AND- OUR SPECIAL MOMENT IN BLACK HISTORY! Yesterday, Bell officially announced the launch of "GOTCONN" a new search engine. She will be the first female, African American to independently launch her own search engine. Part of the reason for this was because she, like so many others had become annoyed and feeling invading after surfing/researching on the internet and all of the sudden unwanted advertisers are following you, invading your searches, popping up in other areas of your life/day. We heard some say, it even feels like they have a microphone in your house listening to your conversation and if you visit certain sites, they then start chasing you all over the place! And one of the things that is also problematic is, if someone other than you needs to use your computer, they can actually see where you have searched. God forbid you were searching them :). We know how mysterious and amazing God is, so I am sure you all can appreciate this....The way the idea came about was totally spiritual. This was never her plan, it was something Bell declares God revealed to her and not knowing initially how or why, she followed the instructions of God and this is where it led her! The GOTCONN search engine is the solution to taking back your privacy and she is here to tell us all about it! Three amazing people in one show! They all will share how God gently nudged them to push on, pull through, and press on despite adversity. Inaugural Episode - Flying without Wings
Episodes with music are only available on Spotify.
Today’s episode will feature inspirational music, positive inspirations, and an exclusive interview with “the HOPE Coach” Tawana Williams. Tawana was born in Wilson, North Carolina without arms and impaired use of her legs due to the drug Thalidomide that was given to her mother during pregnancy. Tawana’s mother loved her child so much and didn’t know how to care for her, so she started contacting Social Services and The Department of Human Resources. After weeks with no response, she sat down and wrote a letter to President John F. Kennedy about Tawana’s situation and asked for his help. A few weeks later he responded and intervened! At 11-1/2 months old, Tawana was taken to Duke Cerebral Palsy Hospital to be trained (long term) to use her feet as if they were her hands. At the age of 4-1/2 years old, she moved to Washington, DC with her mother and three sisters. Each summer Tawana and her sisters stayed with Grandma Rogers. Grandma Rogers was the matriarch of the family and she made sure that Tawana was taken care of, even though she lived hundreds of miles away in North Carolina; that was her baby and she prayed, spoke life, and watched over her until she passed in 1999. Tawana’s mom knew that her mother was the family’s connection to God and she made sure that her girls would have that same opportunity. Tawana’s Aunts, Uncles, and family members all protected her well-being throughout her life. As a teenager, Tawana loved participating in local talent shows as a singer. She was always a happy and feisty child, she was the light of the party. Grandma Rogers told Tawana as a child “I knew you would do something with your mouth/voice because you talk all the time and you talk too much.” Tawana learned how to adapt in any situation; she’s a self-sufficient and independent woman on the move! She learned to master what she had early in life! Tawana writes, types, and irons with her feet. As a teenager, her sisters taught her how to sweep using her chin and shoulders. Tawana continues to push others to be all they can be. She serves them right where they are… UP NEXT: Come journey with us as we speak with 3TOB (Tony Toni Ton’e Original Band) about the breakup of the group.
