In this episode of Generation Bold: The Fountain of Truth About Aging I interview Dr. Cynthia Stuen, the Main Representative from The International Federation On Ageing to the United Nations

Dr. Cynthia Stuen, is the Main Representative from The International Federation On Ageing to the United Nations, the Chair of the NGO New York Committee On Ageing, and a leader in advocacy for Human Rights of older adults. Doctor Stuen gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group On Ageing as it explores the gaps in human rights for older adults worldwide. In 2024 a core group will report on the need to cover specific rights for older persons, and methods of monitoring how nations enforce those rights.

This report may become part of the very first convention, which is a document like a treaty that will have influence in the lives of millions of older people. Doctor Stuen explains how you can impact age and  gender equality and lend a voice to the campaign for human rights that includes all of us. Let's make the slogan, Nothing About Us Without Us, a reality.

Meet Jeff Rubin the Visionary Producer of Senior Moments

Meet Jeff Rubin the Visionary Producer of Senior Moments

Jeff Rubin is the author of Wisdom of Age and the seminal video series Senior Moments. I speak with a true visionary and artist on what it means to be older, how we see ourselves and others, and why ageism is so "sticky." Can we ever escape from our age-essential attitudes? How do we transcend our self-age prejudices? Why do some elders continue to contribute to the community, and others as wealthy and healthy withdraw? Which one will you be as you age?

Find the right residential community for yourself or a loved one? This week's interview with Dan Levitt of Kin Village is a not-to-be-missed discussion of the latest breakthroughs

Find the right residential community for yourself or a loved one? This week's interview with Dan Levitt of Kin Village is a not-to-be-missed discussion of the latest breakthroughs

Since the Generation Bold Podcast aired six years ago, partially because of Covid and partially because the baby boomers are aging, we have all taken a fresh look at senior residential communities, from past failures to the new, uplifting way they offer care.

Kin Village displays all the attributes of the latest trends in assisted living and continuing care residential communities. The Kinsman, a service club, started the organization about a half-century ago. From humble beginnings, Kin Village now serves hundreds of people every day. The community center's hub offers programs and services around what residents love to do, including jazzercise and ballroom dancing.

You will discover:

· How to assess a residential community, not only for the activities it provides but for the encouragement and inclusion that engages you or your loved one to participate.

· How ageism is still an issue in some residences, and what you can do about it.

· How the tide is turning to less ageist views and what it can mean to a vibrant senior residential community.

Dan is on the board of the International Federation on Ageing. You will hear the challenges and issues, including older women, technology, environmentalism, and healthcare equity, the IFA is tackling now and at its 16TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE on July 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.

In My Interview with Dr. Udo Erasmus We Uncover the Truth About Fats

In My Interview with Dr. Udo Erasmus We Uncover the Truth About Fats

Doctor Erasmus is the author of Fats that Heal Fats that Kill.

In my interview with him we cover what fats are, the difference between Omega 6 and Omega 3 and why low fat diets are not the path to weight loss or health.

The relationship between low IQ, attention deficit disorder and even depression  to low fat diets. We look at how to store oils in the correct way to keep them potent. Low fat diets have been marketed effectively to the public. But perhaps we should instead be thinking of right fat diets rather than low fat.

Welcome to a new world of CBD natural health alternatives for humans and pets.

Welcome to a new world of CBD natural health alternatives for humans and pets.

Are you curious about CBD? How can it help you or hurt you? In this episode of Generation Bold, I interview one of the most successful and earliest CBD business leaders and ask the questions to which you need answers.

Discover:

· What is CBCD? Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a chemical compound derived from hemp plants, not synthetic. It is not a chemical.

· How can it help you? Many feel sleep issues, pain issues, anxiety, headache, and nausea.

· How does it work? Our bodies interact with CBD through a built-in network of neurons called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS runs deep and touches all major body systems, allowing CBD to affect every one of us because we all have CBD receptors CB1 and CB2.

· How can you take CBD? CBD comes from a plant and then is made into the following: oils, edibles, capsules, honey, tea, coffees, lotions, and balms.

And much more.

Of course, Always consult your doctor for any questions and concerns.

Meet The Man Who Started the Longevity Tsunami: Aubrey De Grey

Meet The Man Who Started the Longevity Tsunami: Aubrey De Grey

Sporting his signature long beard and youthful lanky frame, British biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey is a leader in rejuvenation and a controversial figure even among geroscientists and Longevitists. Promoting the idea that we are at the tipping point of vastly increasing healthy years and critical of regulators that stand in the way, de Grey can persuade you that we can live to 150 or more.

But…read his books, and you will discover that his suggestions are easy to follow, down to earth, and realistic. He has said:

“I believe that the main reason for this tragic myopia is a phobia about aging that is so ancient and deep-seated that it overpowers the rationality of nearly all of us, even the most intelligent and educated. Aging holds us in a psychological stranglehold, preventing us from even contemplating the idea of its medical conquest.”

This is a not to be missed interview.

Generation Bold, December 20In this episode of Generation Bold: The Fountain of Truth: I interview Amitay Eshel, Young Goose’s CEO and co- founder who has been in the beauty industry for over a decade

“Don’t forget to moisture,” was my Mom’s Lasting advice. But as sound as that advice may be, we all know that

topical creams don’t permanently stop the sagging or dulling of our skin. While we might cherish our hard-won

wrinkles, we also know that e skin is the largest organ of the body, and we need to nourish it not just for beauty

but for our health.

I was impressed by a company called Young Goose, which I encountered at a few longevity conferences,( not

cosmetic conferences.) For the past six years, Young Goose has melded geroscience with cosmetology with a bio-

hacking product line that includes NAD+ and other nutraceuticals

In this episode of Generation Bold: The Fountain of Truth, I interview Amitay Eshel, Young Goose’s CEO and co-

founder who has been in the beauty industry for over a decade, as well as being a business development

consultant in that space on skin health and rejuvenation. Discover the science behind the products and how

topicals can and cannot work for you.

Generation Bold, January 3, How Far Would You Go to Live Longer and Healthier? One Day You May Have to Decide.

Liz Parrish is one of the bravest and most controversial figures in the exploding field of Longevity. Liz is called ”Patient Zero” because she has used herself as a guinea pig for gene therapy to reverse aging. The procedure required Parrish to go to Colombia and other countries for treatment. The Result… look at her picture. Her biological age dropped five years every year after her treatments, done in 2015 and in 2020. She is biologically 25, chronologically in her forties, and started with a 66-year-old biomarker profile.

She is an innovator, and an investor and promoter of Gene therapy for Longevity. Her company,  BioViva Science, asserts that governments, including the US, must look at gene therapies to have a shot at healthy Longevity.

Some say she is a prophet of the future, and some that she is exposing people to unnecessary risk. But Liz is now helping those interested in gene therapy by taking them off-shore for medical tourism to get procedures unavailable in many first-world nations.

How do you feel about efforts for extreme Longevity? Get the picture on our Generation Bold Podcast: The Fountain of Truth as I interview Liz, a stalwart and sophisticated ambassador for transhumanism and radical Longevity.

Generation Bold, November 8, EXPOSED: The Medical Advice That is Making You Sick Hear my interview with Dr. Robert Lufkin as he exposes the comfortable lies pushed by mainstream medicine

Dr. Robert Lufkin helps people live longer and enjoy life. He is a metabolic health and longevity expert. He is also the host of the Health Longevity Secrets Podcast with hundreds of thousands of listeners. In addition to being a practicing physician, Dr. Lufkin has served as a professor at UCLA and USC medical schools and is the author of more than two hundred peer-reviewed scientific papers and thirteen books.

Sounds like he should know how to be healthy…right? Wrong! Dr. Lufkin ate right, and he took his prescribed medications.

But...He was dying anyway but did not know why!

Hear his revealing expose of what doctors get wrong and why.

  • Cure beats prevention…Wrong!
  • We are not in control of our aging and disease…Wrong!
  • There are drugs like rapamycin that could prevent all the diseases that become devastatingly chronic…Right!

Robert realized everything he thought he knew about mainstream diet advice, prescription drugs, and the cause of disease was completely wrong. Through the hard-hitting research of his friend, investigative journalist Gary Taubes, Robert learned how special interests dictate national health guidelines and how “healthy” foods kill. That is when Robert realized that the same science, he was teaching at medical school was killing him.

If you are interested in the new longevity drugs like Metformin and Rapamycin, want inspiration to control your health, understand why your doctor seems less informed than you are about health breakthroughs and want to get on my bandwagon to make sure we all have Longevity Equality, discover:

  • How chronic diseases are all linked by common root causes overlooked by our system
  • What financial incentives, simple human error, and other factors drive the soaring rates of chronic disease
  • How Robert was able to reverse deadly diseases in himself with lifestyle changes anyone can do
  • How you can keep medical errors from ruining your health

Generation Bold, October 25, Meet Retirement Coach Eric J. Weigel, Founder of Retire with Possibilities and Author of Reimagining Retirement: 9 Keys to True Wealth

Ten years ago, Eric thought he was on his way to a happy retirement after his career in finance was over. Then his life turned upside down. He and his wife divorced after a 23-year marriage, Eric moved out of the house they had just remodeled, and the Financial Crisis wiped his post-retirement flexible income stream away.

His transition led to soul searching for real meaning after retirement, and he discovered a formula for:

· More adventure in your life

· Being in better shape

· Having more exciting volunteer positions, travel, and hobbies

· Being happier and more fulfilled in retirement

Eric calls our Third Age the age of fulfillment. “No longer are career advancement, financial gain, and child-rearing the focus of our lives. We are now exploring what to do with our freedom and can do what we find interesting and purposeful as our time commitments wind down. This phase of life typically lasts 20 to 30 years.”

The interview helps you, in Eric’s words, “consciously design their journey into the Third Age by sharing thought-provoking ideas, resources, and tools in all aspects -financial as well as non-financial – affecting the quality of our experience.”

Do you know you have a book inside you ‘somewhere’ but have trouble getting the words on the page? Are you ready to write your memoirs, family history, inspirational tales, informative books, and children’s books but do not know where to start?

My guest, Helen Heavirland, is an author, speaker, and encourager with multiple award-winning books. Helen loves to teach grandparents and others to write their simple (or extraordinary) experiences into stories that intrigue younger generations and inspire them. You, too, can write stories that transform the future.

During my interview with Helen, you will discover:

· How to write for one person and captivate many

· How to write from the heart, not the head

· How to inform authentically and not sound pedantic or dry

· How to know when your writing is publish-worthy

Helen guides you with her foolproof method …GEM…to help you write your:

Memoirs or inspirational stories, with her courses for beginning writers:

“3 Keys to Writing Stories that Inspire Your Grandkids.”

“Write Your Memories”

Upcoming Book: Surviving the Sand, June 2022

Helen Heavirland’s family moved from a comfortable home in the beautiful woods of Oregon’s Coastal Mountain Range to the desert in Eastern Washington. Thanks to Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River, irrigation had become available. Helen’s family, along with many other families, broke sod and tried to farm desert. It was like pioneering a hundred years late.

Eking out a living was tough at first—the first winter, the family slept outside under blankets of snow. But the family works together, plays together, struggles together, and, ultimately, wins together.

This week on Generation Bold Radio, I talk with Dr. Jonathan Clinthorn, with a doctorate in human nutrition, this outstanding expert is featured in Men's Health, Forbes, Runner's World. He is Director of Communications for Simply Good Foods, USA, maker of Quest and Atkins products.

What is in your pantry and refrigerator right now? Take a look. My mother used to say she had the healthiest closet in America. What she meant was that she had healthy foods LIKE  apples, fresh baked bread, and veggies. And homemade dishes. If you wanted to snack healthy it was a fresh but limited array. Today, that is no longer the case.

Today we have hundreds of ready-mades, sometimes processed snack foods, from which to choose. You may have a bar in your purse, a couple in your drawer, and you wonder: How many can I have a day? What is the difference it is making in my nutritional health? Does it have to do with diabetes? Can a snack be effective in weight maintenance, good and bad?

It’s challenging is to maintain your good health habits and nutrition in a high-speed world. Prepared snacks and whole meal bars are the nexus between nutrition and time management.

DISCOVER

· What foods and snacks spike blood sugar

· Why the US nutritional guidelines have caused diseases and ill health

· How are these guidelines changing?

· What are the Good vs. Bad Fats

· How does obesity affect the body?

· How to make lasting behavioral changes

· A terrific little-known resource for free evidence-based nutritional help

Statistics are Legion about diabetes. Deaths topped a hundred thousand for a second year in a row.

So please listen to this week’s groundbreaking show.

The background you should know:

It is scary when you look at the obesity and diabetes prevalence, uh. When our dietary guidelines came about back in the late seventies and early eighties, the advice was to eat higher carbohydrate, lower fats. A surge in diabetes coincided with this advice.

US dietary guidelines for Americans are under scrutiny recently , because the dietary guidelines are still pushing high carbohydrate diets. Somewhere between 45 and 65% of calories should be coming from carbohydrates, it says. While this might be acceptable for a metabolically healthy population,  most people in the United States are not metabolically healthy. So, we must start to tailor our dietary advice. to be more specific to the needs of our people. You can do this for yourself and your family with the resources available at atkins.com

Get Inside the Psyche of a True Though Leader-Esther Dyson, Founder and Philanthropist at Wellville, 23 AND Me, and (wait for it) a Cosmonaut

This Generation Bold interview is a must-listen for anyone who wants to start thinking like a thought leader…grow their organization, turn ideas into reality.

Esther Dyson is a true Renaissance woman, making a change in how we all stay well. Esther is the legendary investor in twenty-three and Me. She can see potential in new ideas and turn ideas into reality. Esther is devoted to Welville, upgrading the health of five selected communities in the US and creating a  chain reaction to other communities. If your region gets healthier may be because of Wellville

If you never had a conversation with a true thought leader, Esther reveals how she thinks and acts to create change. You will be inspired.

She is a journalist, a philanthropist, an investor, and she is a connoisseur of change.

She looks to see what will really work and tries to make it happen. And that is not easy. We will be talking about precision medicine, equity in health care, and longevity, how you get people together to really make a difference, and how you get government officials together to make a change in their community.

Truth Nuggets from Esther:

Truth: Build an organization that spreads success…An endeavor is a true success when it helps others not just to succeed, but in turn to also help someone else succeed.

Truth: Inclusivity pays off in community change. The great purpose is thinking long-term. And it is thinking about the community, including people of different races and the poor. If we went to a new community and helped the upper half of the demographic become dramatically healthier, we would consider that a failure.

We are really trying to reduce the disparity. We are trying to make the community feel more like a community. We go walking around in the streets doing that ourselves. We are basically helping the people in the community who are good at doing this. We are helping them get better because the people who succeed are more willing to share and collaborate than the people who are struggling.

Truth Takeaway for life: Make new mistakes. It is always make new mistakes. Cause that is how you learn. Do not make the same old mistakes. And learn from your mistakes, so you always make ONLY  new mistakes. The basic idea is not to be afraid to try stuff, but do not try and fail doing the same thing over and over again. So, it is an encouragement to give things a whirl, like, doing Wellville itself. I mean, sure, people have started things, but no one was doing that.

AND YES…SHE IS A COSMONAUT

"Okay. So, I trained as a cosmonaut in Russia and spent a few weeks in Baikonur Kazakhstan*. I was a backup. I actually went to the space station and stayed there for a while, as opposed to most of the guys going up right now, or basically going up for a few minutes, hanging out. But they are not actually living there. My goal ultimately is to have it be boring and normal to be weightless.

And so, if you stay up there for a week, you get over all nausea. It just feels familiar. So, I have not yet experienced that. I've been weightless a bunch of times, and I've been through the training. So interestingly, when I watch a space movie, my first reaction is, oh yes, I was there."

*Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan has been the launch site for Soviet and Russian space missions since the beginning of space exploration in 1957. The first satellite and the first human flew into space from there. Today, the site is heavily used for Soyuz astronaut launches to the International Space Station.

SOMEWHERE IN AMERICA – We’ve all felt it at some point. An overwhelming urge to break free, defy convention, change our lives, alter our surroundings, explore the world and discover our best selves. Not just for a few days but perhaps for a few years or even forever.

Unfortunately, however, the vast majority of us pack such urges away like fine china that’s too delicate and impractical to use except on the rarest of occasions. And so, instead of taking an off-ramp toward a bold and adventurous new life, we stay in our comfortable and predictable lanes knowing two words of regret will inevitably creep into our thoughts time and time again – if only…

Generation Bold Radio--Holiday Special from December 20, 2015 Guest: Rich Little, Legendary Impressionist

Born in Canada, Rich Little got his start just like almost every other comic of his time - night clubs. he was a very popular comic in these clubs, but if there was one thing Rich was best known for, it was impersonations. He studied the voices of many stars his whole life, stars like James Stewart, Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Dean Martin, Truman Capoteand George Burns. In the late 1960s, Rich was dubbed "the best impressionist in the world." During the 1970s, however, a rivalry began between him and fellow impressionist Frank Gorshin, who is five years older. Ultimately, Rich overpowered Gorshin and remained the best impressionist in the world. In 1973 Rich became more associated with Dean Martin and made countless appearances on the "Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts," honoring most of the people he impersonated.

Generation Bold Radio, December 12, 2021--Guest: Fernando Torres-Gil, UCLA, The Aging Landscape: Emerging Trends and Changing Perspective

Dr. Fernando Torres-Gil  introduces us to the political, intergenerational and diversity trends that will affect the future of aging. The number of Americans ages 65 and older will more than double over the next 40 years, reaching 80 million in 2040. Approximately one in five Americans will be age 65 or older by 2040 as well, up from about one in eight in 2000. As we are living longer, an examination of important public policy issues – from labor to healthcare and housing – require fresh perspectives and reframing.

Dr Torres-Gil is one of panel of high level experts presenting at the “first-ever” gathering on age-related topics hosted by UCLA Extension. Dr. Torres-Gil served under Presidents Carter, Clinton and Obama on aging policy. Dr. Torres-Gil is Director of the UCLA Center for Policy Research on Aging.

What will be  the impact of a large 65+ group have on the workforce , Social Security, future elections and new legislation, geroscience and Alzheimer’s breakthroughs, caregiving, the global economy, and the results of a now-mostly vaccinated older population on future health care, and many other topics.

Regsiter free: “The Aging Landscape: Emerging Trends and Changing Perspectives” begins at 1 p.m. (PT) on December 9, via Zoom.  https://www.uclaextension.edu/osher-olli/taste-osher/course/aging-landscape-emerging-trends-and-changing-perspectives-genint
