The Anthem of the Adventurer

The Anthem of the Adventurer

By Dan Zehner

There has been a longing in me that recently was awakened by talking with a number of awesome men who have helped breathe a new sense of adventure into my heart. We must stop using the excuse of having kids and a mortgage to hold us back from a life filled with adventure. I want to share their stories (and more) with you, along with weekly challenges with your friends and family! I want to encourage you to live adventurously every day through a mix of casual, critical, and crucial adventures.

26: Following Where the Road Takes You w/ Dan Grec

Today on the show we have a guy who decided that his job as a software engineer wasn’t fulfilling his need for adventure in his life, packed up his car and drove to Alaska from his home in Canada. Yes, I said around. Not across. This journey so far has been almost 37k miles in his trusty off-road Jeep and he’s got many more 10s of thousands to go. Truly epic. 25 Clarify Your Filter With Tools and Tactics from the Navy SEALs w/ Larry Yatch

We have my friend, Larry Yatch. Now Larry is a special breed of guy: he was bound and determined to be a Navy fighter pilot since he saw the movie Top Gun in 3rd grade, but that changed when a friend gave him a Navy SEAL sweatshirt which would redirect the course of his life.

After graduating from the Naval Academy, he would pass the hardest military training in the world to become a Navy SEAL and serve our country with distinction for 10 years as an officer. His military service ended when he was medically retired, but his service to our country continued in the form of building businesses to help others build and execute in high performing teams at work and at home.

Bonus Call to Action - Team Rubicon

Bonus Call to Action - Team Rubicon

Today on the show I’m giving you a more direct call to action. This week, tens of thousands of people are preparing to endure the wrath of Hurricane Florence, and a group of tens of thousands more are ready to deploy their skills to be the best part of their worst day and Get (Stuff) Done.

Team Rubicon’s primary mission is providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, be they domestic or international. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible.

Through continued service, Team Rubicon seeks to provide our veterans with three things they lose after leaving the military: a purpose, gained through disaster relief; community, built by serving with others; and identity, from recognizing the impact one individual can make. Coupled with leadership development and other opportunities, Team Rubicon looks to help veterans transition from military to civilian life.

I’m a proud member of Team Rubicon Region V, and had the privilege of serving alongside my fellow tribe members in the wake of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. It was one of the most profoundly positive experiences of my life, and you can have that mix of adventure, purpose, and service too by signing up to deploy on their website. It only takes a few hours of training, and a little bit of gear and you’re good to go.

23 How to Grow as a Creative Adventurer in Business with Dan McPherson

23 How to Grow as a Creative Adventurer in Business with Dan McPherson

Dan McPherson works with people who have a creative spirit, either one they fully embrace or one they’ve repressed for years in a cubicle. He helps people find clarity, adventure, and prosperity in their creative pursuits. He’s a guy that believes in getting a little better every day, and helping those he serves do that as well. Helping them move into new territory every day in powerful and effective ways. We talk about how to make incredible change in your life and business through seemingly small, incremental changes. He is a lifelong learner and we share many of the same influencers, which was awesome to talk about. One of his big takeaways was that every high performer is passionate about growth, stepping out and doing new things, while keeping all that balanced with fun. In addition to growth, they are huge seekers of adventure. Work hard, and play hard!
