Today we talked with Gustavo Ramirez, and Lizzy Lane from the SOJC club, TakingUpSpace. The community-centered club is the only space for BIPOC students in Advertising at the SOJC. The clubs mission is to empower BIPOC junior talent by hosting weekly zoom workshops, and spreading the message to take up space in predominately white spaces. Because, at the end of the day you belong and are worthy of writing your own story. Today on after hours radio we are honored to host Brad Hall and UO alum Dustin Freeman! They are both currently working @ AKQA in Portland and are here to talk with us about agency life and what it means to love your job. Brad is a creative director while Dustin made his way from account management to the production side of things. Both have worked on many big accounts like Burger King, Nike, and Amazon. Born and raised in Argentina, Lucila Cejas is currently a Brand & Cultural Strategist at North agency in Portland, OR.  Lucila graduated with a Masters of Science in Strategic Communications at the UO in 2016 with a 4.0 and previously worked in years of production and journalism before going into a strategy role. But above all that, Lucila’s firecracker spirit and contagious personality is fool-proof for an awesome afternoon. We are looking forward to her leading our workshop today, but also to sit and talk with her in the After Hours podcast. 

We’re welcoming Renee Dobre, Architecture Undergraduate at the UO to After Hours for an intimate version of her TEDx talk she gave last month about the possible versatility of 3D printers. Renee was the only Undergraduate to speak at the TEDxUOregon event. Listen in as we talk about how to be looking at 3D printers in a new light for a more efficient future that includes all of us.

He talks to us about his story on how he got his internship at Wieden and what he has learned along the way, giving advice to other students making their way into the advertising school!
