Motherland: Fort Salem After Show Podcast

The cadets have graduated from Basic Training, but the Bellweather Unit appears to be the only one not advancing to War College. Instead, upon Khalida's insistence, they accompany Adil (Tony Giroux) and General Alder (Lyne Renee) on a mission to rescue the remaining Tarim. Meanwhile, Anacostia (Demetria McKinney) makes another attempt to understand what motivates Scylla (Amalia Holm), which culminates in the two sharing similar stories of how they found their respective sides after the loss of their parents. After deploying in the Tarim basin, the Bellweather Unite have a heated conversation with Alder, who defends her seemingly questionable decisions as the ever-present challenge of leadership while sharing her own tragic history. Reaching their destination the following day, Alder convinces Tally her efforts are to save wtichkind and better the world, not seize power. Raelle heals a sick child, which convinces the Tarim to follow the soldiers outside, but they are ambushed by the Camarilla. They burn the helicopter pilots at the stake and initiate a gruesome fight, which wounds one of Alder's Biddies, leaving Tally to offer her youth to Alder in order to keep her alive. As everyone boards the last helicopter, Raelle attempts to once again save the stragling child but is stabbed through the back with a sword and left for dead. Abigail bails in an effort to save Raelle as the chopper takes off but the two are somehow saved by the sickness which Raelle had removed. Finally, Anacostia helped Scylla escape imprisonment, but follows her into the private sector and to the Spree hideout where Raelle's presumed-dead mother has been giving the orders. Our favorite unit of panelist discuss the Bellweather unit in Episode 9 of Motherland: Fort Salem as we are accompanied by General Alder herself, Lyne Renée.

On an emotional episode of Motherland: Fort Salem, we see how city drop turns into a full-fledged mission for our unit. Raelle finally learns the truth about Scylla from Tally, but still refuses to believe it. Abigail is still reeling from the loss of Charvelle and The Spree’s attack, so citydrop’s testing is especially tough for her. When The Spree mobilizes another attack, Alder makes the touch decision to send in the cadets after losing the initial troops on the mission. As the cadets and Anacostia fend off The Spree, Alder makes another tough decision to take out the threat, even after Tally shares that there will be civilian casualties. When we lose Libba as a result of this mission, everybody’s trust in Alder, the military, and each other, is tested. Also, we get more #Adigail! With Scylla in their hands, Alder and Anacostia try their best to get information about the spree. As they try to break the her, the healers use their powers for good to help a fellow witch. Their surgery doesn't go as planned but Raelle may be the cure they need. Abigail rallies the unit together to help the witch and we see how powerful the unit is.  Amazed at the young witch's miraculous recovery, Alder attempts to learn some of her skills but she's not as convincing as she thinks. The unit explores new love interests and revisits old ones but are forced to put them aside when danger arises on the base. Everyone debriefs last episode's Spree attack, with General Bellweather investigating the spell used to dampen their abilities. Autopsies of Spree victims reveal they are now attacking witches, particularly young Bellweathers. With this revelation, General Bellweather assigns a bodyguard, Bridey (Naiah Cummins), to Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) despite her daughter's insistence to prove her compentency. While sparring Bridey, Abagail finally breaks over letting her guard down at the wedding, and Bridey later shares her own story of grief from losing one her sisters on a mission.
All the while, Raelle (Taylor Hickson) is frustrated with a lack of response in finding Scylla, so she follows necromancers into their morgue where Scylla's teacher, Izadora (Emilie Leclerc), discovers Raelle and informs her that Scylla died during the attack. Raelle is riddled with grief herself, but when Scylla's sigil appears in her hand, she steals her unit's salva rations in an effort to fly to the lighthouse on the beach where she is certain Scylla is waiting.
Tally discovers Raelle's plot and with Abgail and they convince Bridey to escort them off base to rescue her.
We find that Scylla is, in fact, alive, being detained and questioned by Izadora, Anacostia, and soon, Alder.

The unit has conflicting goals for attending the Bellweather wedding; Abagail as arranged an opportunity to impress the Dean of the War College, Raelle wants to attend socially with Scylla at her side, and Tally is hopeful of seeing Gerit. Arriving to the wedding, each are surprised to find Scylla, who had disguised herself as a member of the catering staff. Abagail presents her unit, with Scylla in tow, to General Bellweather but fails to meet her mother's high expectations, furthering Abagail's insistence they be at their best when the time comes to meet the Dean. After a lovely ceremony, Tally finds Gerit and takes him away to reunite and confess love for one another, though he is troubled with conflict that soon is revealed in the form of a publicly announced betrothal to someone else. Unfortunately, this is when the Dean of the War College arrives to meet the unit which immediately falls apart. Tally has fled to be alone in a nearby bathroom when Scylla enters, thinking she is alone, and communicates with the increasingly demanding Spree. Shaken, Tally exits to share this information with Anacostia while Scylla dances with Raelle, who are also confessing their love for one another. Meanwhile, Abagail discovers her cousin, the bride, murdered in the bathtub and is attacked by two more Spree disguised as catering staff, all before a swarm of balloons floats in over the wedding party. Thankfully, the many officers present protect everyone from the balloons, save for General Bellweather who went looking for and rescued her daughter, yet everyone present is visibly shaken by the event.

While still trying to understand the unfortunate event from the previous episode, Fort Salem hosts their annual Beltane festival. The witches get hot and steamy with their male counterparts after an unexpected, but enjoyable, dance break. As the units indulge and strengthen their powers, leadership works hard to get to the bottom of Porter's death. Seeing everyone, including her girlfriend, join forces in the open investigation, Syclla scrambles to cover her tracks. Everything seemed to have gone in her favor until she gets an unexpected visitor. As the girls dig deeper into their past, Raelle questions why Scylla is so adamant about hiding hers. With an already exciting episode, the spree has made their first move on the Fort Salem campus. The Spree continues to wreak havoc on the world and The Army begins to intensify their training regimen in order to keep up. Raelle gets guard duty and meets an insightful Lieutenant, who’s not exactly who she appears to be. In the pilot episode, we’re introduced to an alternate America and meet the women who help protect it. Tally is a bright young woman who defies her mother’s wishes and enlists in the U.S. Army. Raelle is compassionate and brave, but feels wronged by the military for taking her mother from her. Abigail comes from an esteemed military family and will do everything in her power to uphold her legacy. These women say the oath, get grouped together as a unit, and begin their journey to fight for their country against the terrorist group known as The Spree.
