Yongary, Monster from Korea or

Yongary, Monster from Korea or

In which X7 examines the final oddball Asian monster movie from 1967, Yongary, Monster from the Deep. This is a South Korean/Japanese co-production. It was imported to the States by American International Pictures (bless them) in 1969. Your humble agent saw it about five or six years later. While international exploitation was thought about, it is very much a movie from South Korea. Yongary is a good looking monster, but alas, suffers one of the worst fates ever.

Parrots of a Feather or Raiders of the Lost Amzot

Parrots of a Feather or Raiders of the Lost Amzot

In which X7 discusses the third episode of The Herculoids. This time we meet Krokar and Stal-Lak, though one of them goes unnamed this time around. X7 looks at some of the fun continuity and some lack thereof. Come on, it was Saturday morning television, and even evening shows had loose continuity back then. Be that as it may, these are good episodes. Not the best, but good. Sta-Lak does not fade away, though!

The Land that Time Forgot or Wind your Watch!

The Land that Time Forgot or Wind your Watch!

In which X7 looks at a good action movie that features dinosaurs (eventually). It is an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs 1918 novel The Land That Time Forgot. This is a pretty faithful version, and has some great miniatures for a movie from 1975. The dinosaurs are puppets, but for this movie, they work well enough. It was aired on Svengoolie last night, which made for a fun feature.

May the Fourth lead you to Pachy Day!

May the Fourth lead you to Pachy Day!

In which X7 declares, via fiat from Lilith Draco, that today and forthwith shall ever be known as Pachycephalosaurus Day! This will take precedence over all other supposed holidays from this time period on! The Pachy is one of Lilith's spirit animals, and X7 looks at the animal and it's very limited (sadly) appearances in media. PACHYCEPHALOSAURUS CHARGE!

Picture courtesy X7, from Dinosaur, Colorado, naturally!

7 Song Friday 5-3-24 or Where's Blondie?

7 Song Friday 5-3-24 or Where's Blondie?

In which X7 listens to seven random songs. He talks about the bands, meanders off topic occasionally. He does find it easy to monologue, doesn't he? BE that as it may, these are seven fun songs, and some interesting factoids about each one. Stay tuned for tomorrow's podcast, it is a very special day!

5 Shaolin Masters or 5 Masters of Death?

5 Shaolin Masters or 5 Masters of Death?

In which X7 talks about the wonderful kung fu epic, Five Shaolin Masters, AKA Five Masters of Death. It boasts a great cast, wonderful martial arts sequences and a more survivors in a Chang Cheh movie than one would imagine. Be that as it may, this is an all time classic. X7 discusses the English dubbed trailer as well. He really does not like Ma Fu Yi!

May 02, 202418:28
Charlie, a Unicorn or Starfish Love Him!

Charlie, a Unicorn or Starfish Love Him!

In which X7 looks at the 2005 viral cartoon Charlie the Unicorn. It has four sequels as well, and X7 includes the first two for good reason. They are really quite funny with some off the wall humor. How many times do you get to see a Magical Liopleurodon? Not very often, we will tell you what! These are available to see on YouTube, and are highly recommended!

May 01, 202415:30
What If #7 or The beginning of the Spider-Verse?

What If #7 or The beginning of the Spider-Verse?

In which X7 gets rather in-depth about What If Someone ELSE besides Spider-Man had been bitten by the radioactive spider? That is one very unwieldy title, isn't it? It is in all caps on the cover, but we ain't typing that out! Be that as it may, this is another tragic, yet triumphant book. We get three stories about three different people getting the spider powers. None of them become Spider-Man, though. X7 has way too many questions about all these stories, meaning he has probably thought about them for far too many years. Check it out!

Apr 30, 202427:16
Mecha-minions or Pods Amongst Us!

Mecha-minions or Pods Amongst Us!

In which X7 looks at the second episode of The Herculoids! He also manages a Despicable Me reference as well. At some point he will have to discuss that movie as well. Be that as it may, these two episodes are very similar and may actually be a two part story. X7 explains why!

Apr 29, 202412:04
Captain Power, or Toys of the Future

Captain Power, or Toys of the Future

In which X7 examines the sad failure of a good show, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. It was from 1987, so it sure looks like sci-fi from 1987. Remember the video generated effects from Star Trek: The Next Generation? We mean, you won't want to, but this show has about the same quality. The scripts were somewhat better even! Too many unsold toy and busybody parent groups sealed the doom for this show.

Apr 28, 202415:22
Lost in a Space Book, or Danger, Robot, Danger!

Lost in a Space Book, or Danger, Robot, Danger!

In which X7 discusses a book he is reading while watching the original Lost in Space series. This voluminous volume covers the first season, with loads of pictures and more. It is quite good, and well worth the money if you are a fan. As we know, X7 is a fan! Irwin Allen had quite a decent track record of shows in the 60s.

Apr 27, 202415:05
7 Song Friday 4-26-24 or Beware of Boris!

7 Song Friday 4-26-24 or Beware of Boris!

In which X7 listens to seven random songs and talks about the music and the musicians. He also plays his Gretsch G2420T at the beginning. It is one of his favorite songs ever! Be kind about his playing. This a truly eclectic selection, though three songs have something in common. Not the music, though!

Apr 26, 202422:38
The Fantastic Four of 67, or who is Aunt Petunia?

The Fantastic Four of 67, or who is Aunt Petunia?

In which X7 talks about the best version (as of this recording) of the Fantastic Four. Hanna-Barbera brought this fab four to animated life in 1967, and it is as close as we have gotten to a great version of the comic book. It has yet to be released in any home video version, though. Imagine a cartoon being better than four movie versions. Wait, you don't have to!

Apr 25, 202413:51
Caveman, or There's a Beatle in my movie!

Caveman, or There's a Beatle in my movie!

In which X7 talks about the wonderful 1981 dinosaur-comedy movie Caveman. The cast is wonderful and the effects are fun. X7 really misses stop-motion animation! Be that as it may, there is only one dinosaur in the movie. The others are of a different lineage, and one or two never did exist in this world. To top it all off, Ringo met his future wife, married her a year later and they are still together. Dinosaurs sure do enhance romance, don't they?

Apr 24, 202418:17
Godzilla saves the Earth, or the Smog Monster Arrives!

Godzilla saves the Earth, or the Smog Monster Arrives!

In which X7 celebrates Earth Day by talking about the planet's greatest defender, man's friend, Godzilla. Yes, it is Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster from 1971. He saw it as a young agent, and it left quite the impression. Hedorah is a vile and interesting monster, as the slimy alien fad was still eight years away. Let's all sing "Save the Earth" together!

Apr 23, 202423:03
Herculoids 1. The Pirates/Sarko the Arkman

Herculoids 1. The Pirates/Sarko the Arkman

In which X7 discusses the first episode of The Herculoids! This contains two segments, as that is how it was presented at the time. He actually tried to get some sound bites in this episode, but that experiment failed so spectacularly that he had to scrap the first take and start over. Thankfully smarter people prevailed and it was only about two minutes of time. Be that as it may, this is a rollicking start to the series!

Apr 22, 202415:20
The Wolfman or His Yak Hair is Perfect!

The Wolfman or His Yak Hair is Perfect!

In which X7 examines the classic horror movie from 1941, The Wolfman. It deserves the classic status awarded to it by fans and film critics alike. X7 talks a bit about werewolf, and other were-creature lore, as well as the great cast. Everyone should watch the movie!

Apr 21, 202413:58
Amoebas from Space or Who was that Yog I saw you with?

Amoebas from Space or Who was that Yog I saw you with?

In which X7 talks about Toho Studios final non-Godzilla monster mash movie, Yog, Monster from Space (1970). It's a fun island monster romp, where aliens embiggen a turtle, a cuttlefish and two crabs. They try to take over the world, though they are in the South Pacific, miles away from civilization. So much for superior intelligence!

Apr 20, 202417:50
7 Song Friday 4-19-24 or Poison Strawberries?

7 Song Friday 4-19-24 or Poison Strawberries?

In which X7 listens to seven random songs from his iTunes, and tries to find some information about all the songs and bands. This is not nearly as easy as it might sound, though. However, this is a fun mix of songs, and X7 doesn't wander off topic too much, but hey, it's called monologing. It is what X7 does. Stay tuned for actual theme music our humble agent is working on!

Apr 19, 202420:13
Junior Heroes, or Does that Mask Fit?

Junior Heroes, or Does that Mask Fit?

In which X7 looks at five sequel series that contain generational heroes. These may be sons and daughters, or even further removed from the originals. Heck, one might even be a clone! X7 has enjoyed these types of comic books and stories, and it is fun to see the concept in animated form. Eventually he will talk about the shows individually, but this is a good introduction!

Apr 18, 202420:29
Guilala marks the Spot, or The Egg from Outer Space!

Guilala marks the Spot, or The Egg from Outer Space!

In which X7 takes a loving look at one of the most unique monster movies from 1967, The X From Outer Space. The atomic energy eating monster Guilala is brought to Earth, and man cannot stop it! Guilala is ridiculously charming, and the movie itself it rather unique. It has a rockin' theme song (at least, the Japanese version does) and the story is rather unique for a kaiju eiga. And since Guilala was good enough for Ladders, it is great for us!

Apr 17, 202415:15
The Bionic Duo, or Don't Stop a Car With Your Legs!

The Bionic Duo, or Don't Stop a Car With Your Legs!

In which X7 waxes poetically about the two popular Bionic Shows of the 79s, The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. These shows were tied to each other from the beginning, and worked well together. The only hitch was when Jaime left ABC for another network, and couldn't take Steve with her. X7 watched both shows regularly, and all his friends of that vintage did as well. This is a basic overview of both series, plus a smattering of other cyborgs in shows, comics and movies.

Apr 16, 202423:05
Somewhere in the Xeno-verse live the Herculoids!

Somewhere in the Xeno-verse live the Herculoids!

In which X7 introduces the Herculoids and gets us ready to review the series in a weekly manner. He gives the background on the series, and even the sequel from the 80s. There are 18 episodes for the show, with two segments each. There is also one guest appearance in Lilith's favorite show Space Ghost and 11 more segments from the 1981 series Space Stars. We will get to those as well.

Apr 15, 202412:04
Five Deadly Venoms rock the world!

Five Deadly Venoms rock the world!

In which X7 reveals the secrets of the Poison Clan from 1978's Shaw Brothers' classic, The Five Deadly Venoms, or The Five Venoms, if you prefer. This was is a great movie featuring kung fu, even if the Poison Clan never existed (or does it? They might have to kill you if you find out). X7 saw this for the first time in the hills of West Virginia on WDCA Channel 20, the greatest television station of all time. He talks about the legacy of the movie and the actors. It is still available for viewing, but own it, since everyone will want to see it more than once!

Apr 14, 202415:08
What if the Fantastic Four Had Different Super-Powers? #6

What if the Fantastic Four Had Different Super-Powers? #6

In which X7 takes a peak into Earth 7712, where the Fantastic Four received different powers due to their bath in cosmic radiation. It is one of his favorite stories, and he would not be surprised if this fabulous foursome crossed dimensional boundaries. He would like to see some of these stories adapted into animated form. X7 will not hold his breath, though. It would make him blue.

Apr 13, 202414:08
7 Song Friday 4-12-24 100th episode Spectacular!

7 Song Friday 4-12-24 100th episode Spectacular!

In which X7 celebrates the podcast's 100th episode with well more than seven songs. It is also the longest episode yet. This is a celebration of 100 episodes, and one of X7's many former careers, as a roller derby referee. All of the songs are about several players and even TOFKAT, who was always a better ref than X7. X7 takes consolation in the being the better guitarist. Be that as it may, thanks to everyone who has listened!

Apr 12, 202431:32
Who... is Tillicus? (answer below)

Who... is Tillicus? (answer below)

In which X7 takes a loving look at the generally jaw-dropping 1961 Danish-American movie, Repticilus. He even starts it with the musical number, "Tillicus", which is sadly missing from the US version. We do recommend clicking on the link to see the translated lyrics. This scene is about as silly as the rest of the movie. X7 loves the movie, which is a testament to seeing it at an early age. Make no mistake, silly is the best word for it, but by now, he regards it as an old friend. And we all need those!

Apr 11, 202415:21
Look out, it is Roger Ramjet!

Look out, it is Roger Ramjet!

In which X7 talks about the fun comedy-adventure series, Roger Ramjet! He is the hero of our nation, but it is a good thing he has a team with him. This is the American Eagle Squadron. made up of three boys and a girl. There names are Yank, Doodle, Dan and Dee. The show itself is silly and knows it, but it is not obnoxious about it. It truly goes where eagles dare!

Apr 10, 202413:02
Jem Truly Outrageous!

Jem Truly Outrageous!

In which X7 presents a very special episode of the Xeno-Cast- Agent Frog is in studio! They discuss the influence of the show, as well as all aspects. Frog is a Jem Knowitall, which really helps because X7 is not. We all know how much he likes to monologue by himself. He's not quite as outrageous as Frog, but he will keep trying.

Apr 09, 202417:57
Land of the Re-Lost 1991

Land of the Re-Lost 1991

In which X7 takes a look at the remake of the classic Land of the Lost (1974) series. For some reason, Krofft Productions thought it would be a good idea to remake the whole thing in 1991. It is not the worst kid's show ever, and does have some great dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. However, the scripts are a bit lacking. Take it for what it is, and it isn't too bad.

Apr 08, 202413:41
Beware the Triphibian Monsters!

Beware the Triphibian Monsters!

In which X7 looks at the oddball monster movie Gappa (1967) from Nikkatsu. The influences are there, from both Mothra and Gorgo, but it is entertaining in its own right.

Apr 07, 202412:43
Jonny Quest overview!

Jonny Quest overview!

In which X7 talks about Jonny Quest. He discusses the sequels and the movies as well. There is even a wonderful cameo with a bunch of meddling kids. X7 probably sounds like a major fan, and truth be told, he is. He won't deny it, either!

Apr 06, 202424:23
7 Song Friday 4-5-24

7 Song Friday 4-5-24

In which X7 listens to seven songs and discusses their history, as well as the bands and his relationships with said music. The songs range from the 60s to the 00s. Take that, all you people that think X7 is stuck in the 80s, musically. The Plasmatics make their debut on the Friday, which is something people unfamiliar with the Law of Large Numbers would call a coincidence.

Apr 05, 202421:14
What If #5 (Captain America)

What If #5 (Captain America)

In which X7 talks about What If #5, which has the unwieldy title of "What If Captain America Hadn't Vanished During World War Two?" It is not one of his favorite stories, but it is pretty good. Cap causes a temporal conundrum (not even addressed in the comic book) and he and Bucky continue to fight crime and villains clear into the 60s. Not every story can be a winner to everyone! But Cap will always throw that mighty shield!

Apr 04, 202415:20
Journey to the Center of Filmation's Earth

Journey to the Center of Filmation's Earth

In which X7 takes a look at yet another adaptation of Jule's Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864). This version is based more on the 1959 movie, so there is a duck and a woman on the team. It ran for a whopping 17 episodes in 1967 and then again on the nascent Sci-Fi Network in 1992. We like it, as it is a fun cartoon with some talented actors working on it.

Apr 03, 202415:20
The first series review is up to you!

The first series review is up to you!

In which X7 gives our wonderful listeners a choice of the first weekly series review for the podcast. There is a poll, so we would love it if every listener votes! We know, no one has ever thought of a great idea like this for any podcast, right? Where is that gol dang sarcasm font? We were told that had been perfected!

Be that as it may, this will start in the near future!

Apr 02, 202411:26
Drunken Master (1978)

Drunken Master (1978)

In which X7 has a cold one while talking about the amazing Drunken Master (1978). It was Jackie Chan's first huge success, and paved the way for the rest of his career. He would make a sequel some 16 years later, which is one of the better kung fu movies from 1994. We are sure X7 will visit that movie sometime in the near future. Slàinte Mhath!

Apr 01, 202416:40
Gargoyles 1972

Gargoyles 1972

In which X7 discusses the made for TV movie, Gargoyles. It was first aired in 1972, and then aired sporadically on television after that. It was one of those movies that scared our agent (and his friends, brother, probably the dog) that first time they watched it in the middle of the night. Keep watching the skies!

Also, our 100th episode of the season is coming up!

Mar 31, 202413:19
Takin' a ride... on Heavy Metal!

Takin' a ride... on Heavy Metal!

In which X7 gives a splanation about the movie Heavy Metal (1981) and his initial reaction to it. He also talks a bit about the music and how it did or did not fit into the movie. The music by Elmer Bernstein is brilliant, though. The art and animation is also quite nice, though several of the segments are... adequate. Three are quite good, and could have made a much better movie without some of the other ones. The movie is quite an accomplishment overall.

Mar 30, 202414:36
7 Song Friday 3-29-24

7 Song Friday 3-29-24

In which X7 listens to seven random songs from his iTunes collection. Today they range from the 60s to the 80s. It is a pretty interesting selection, from pure pop to metal to punk. There are even two movies represented in here! It is a pretty wild ride!

Mar 30, 202421:09
Monster Museum 1965

Monster Museum 1965

In which X7 takes the listeners on a tour of Alfred Hitchcock's Monster Museum. This is an anthology book of twelve super scary stories by various authors. X7 read it at a tender age, and two of them scared him enough to put the book in the freezer. Which two? Listen to find out! He recently obtained a copy through mystic means. Good thing it is not a Book of the Dead! Welcome to his nightmare, indeed!

Mar 28, 202412:58
Whoa, Thunderbirds are Go!

Whoa, Thunderbirds are Go!

In which X7 discusses seeing Thunderbirds Are Go! for the first time, though the year he saw it is unclear. He was a young agent back them, you have to understand. The movie did make quite the impression on him, we will tell you what. He talks about the dream sequence and even a song inspired by the show. It is FAB!

Mar 27, 202426:50
Who is that? Devilman!

Who is that? Devilman!

In which X7 summons the Devilman from 1972! This anime series was based on a manga of the same name, but is q bit different, as these adaptations tend to be. Created by Go Nagai it ran 39 episodes. It is highly recommended, since where else are you going to see the mightiest warrior of the Demon Clan turn against his master and side with humans. Why does he do this? Listen to the episode!

Mar 26, 202414:16
What if the Invaders Had Stayed Together after WWII?

What if the Invaders Had Stayed Together after WWII?

In which X7 reminds everyone he is still salty about Bucky being alive, even though he quite enjoys the movies with the Winter Soldier in them. However, in 1977, Bucky was still D-E-D dead! Since this issue is one that actual takes place on Earth 616, it is really fun. Androids abound, and X7 does get to mention the Vision as well!

Dino Boy in the Lost Valley of the DInosaurs

Dino Boy in the Lost Valley of the DInosaurs

In which X7 talks about the wonderful show Dino Boy in the Lost Valley. Todd gets thrown out of a crashing plane by his parents. He lands in a lost valley full of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Fortunately he makes a friend of Ugh the Caveman and Bronty the young Brontosaurus. Hey, we didn't name the poor dinosaur! They never do find his parents, but X7 has a theory about that. Everything is better with dinosaurs!

Mar 23, 202412:11
7 Song Friday 3-22-24

7 Song Friday 3-22-24

In which X7 talks about seven random songs. Rock and roll! There is a wide variety of songs, from 1968 to 2007 or so. He does his best not to sing along with any of them, but there is one he cannot take seriously and really isn't sure how it got into his iTunes. Perhaps the deadly Poser put it there, one never knows with her!

Mar 22, 202422:04
Mermaids of Xenorama

Mermaids of Xenorama

In which X7 takes a brief look at the mermaids of literature, movies, television, and various writings. He mainly focuses on the two most popular mermaids, Madison and Ariel. We highly suggest you read Hans Christian Anderson's original fairy tale for The Little Mermaid, though. It is an eye-opener! Mermaids are truly magical, we do believe that!

Mar 21, 202415:24
Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man

Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man

In which X7 takes a loving look at the first intercompany superhero team-up, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man. It is also one of the best of these stories that DC and Marvel ever did. X7 discusses the plot and the creative crew. There is a look behind the scenes as well. Go read it if you can, and remember when comics were far less complex than they are these days.

Mar 20, 202419:27
The Doctor is real, on WKRP

The Doctor is real, on WKRP

In which X7 slightly reviews one of his favorite television shows. He also reveals one of his early musical influences, the great Dr. Johnny Fever! There are a few clips here to prove it, though we are pretty sure it has been apparent for years. Just don't mess with the Phone Cops!
