President Cyril Ramaphosa recently greenlit the just transition framework, which under the Presidential climate commission sets out policy measures and undertakings by different social partners to minimize the social and economic impact of the shift away from fossil fuels.The framework underpins an agreement between South Africa the UK, US Germany, France, and the EU grant access to an $8.5 billion investment in a shift away from fossil fuels, as we can see their efforts to transform the South African economy into a greener economy.

To date the PCC has provided us with a just transition framework made a commitment to achieve a just transition and has committed to focus support on resourcing and climate finance, as stipulated by commitments in South Africa's NDCs at COP 26.
