The Gridiron Expert

There are 58 Group of Five teams in the country making up 44.6% of all FBS programs. In the past, these teams were considered an afterthought by  many except for maybe their own fans. But the Group of Five is on the rise. From the AAC to the Sun Belt these teams are showing that they deserve some respect and that they deserve their shot on the national stage. The question is, when will they get it? Join host Alex Galbraith and guest analyst Connor Hibbett as they preview the biggest Group of Five contenders heading into 2021 and if this is the year that a G5 team finally makes the College Football Playoff.

Many would say that when a team wins their conference six years in a row, the conference probably isn't that competitive. The truth is, the Big 12 is actually on the rise and the gap on Oklahoma is closing in fast. Whether or not a new Big 12 Champion is crowned in 2021 remains to be seen, but one thing that is for sure is that the road to the Title will be extremely difficult. The Big 12 may be the most exciting conference to watch in the entire country in 2021 and host Alex Galbraith is here to break down every single team heading into this upcoming season.

With the exception of Oregon, I think every other PAC-12 team can agree that the 2020 season should just be forgotten. The conference didn't start play until November, and even then it was just a short, six game season filled with tons of postponements and cancellations. The Big Ten is considered to be the second best conference only behind the SEC. However, the conference has only sent two teams to the College Football Playoff and has only produced two National Champions since the year 2000.
