The violence in Kansas is now spilling over into Washington, as one of the most famous examples of partisan politics in America takes place on the Senate floor. Meanwhile, in Kansas, the town of Lawrence is attacked again, and John Brown takes matters into his own hands.

John Brown and his boys finally arrive in Lawrence to defend the outnumbered free-soilers. Ruffians murder one more Free-statesman, and John Brown begins work on his most diabolical plans yet.

John Brown makes a bold statement to the Convention of Radical Abolitionists and begins his ascent into Kansas. Then the political tensions in the Kansas Territory reach a boiling point and set the stage for the first armed conflict between the Free-Soil and Pro-Slavery forces.

We follow John Brown's five sons as they make the harrowing voyage west to make a new home in Kansas. Then we follow the first-hand accounts in three different Kansas towns as pro-slavery forces make their first attack in what will become known as Bleeding Kansas.

In this episode we find out the whereabouts of 'Ol John Brown; the fate of Anthony Burns; and we hear an obscure poem by Walt Whitman inspired by the events which take place during this episode. Please enjoy!
