Artist Talk with Claudia Chanhoi a.k.a Brain x Eyes
EPISODE 11 of ‘All About Art’: Artist Interview with Claudia Chanhoi a.k.a. Brain x Eyes In this episode I sat down to interview illustrator and artist Claudia Chanhoi. I asked her about her artistic practice, how she balances her professional life with her art career, her experiences in the arts as a woman, and more. Feel free to get in touch with her on her instagram or check out her website, linked here. This episode is in collaboration with ARTPOWHER Contemporary, an art project initiative that places focus on female-identifying and non-binary creatives in the arts. The CEO, Anna Maurrasse-Tomaiuolo, founded ARTPOWHER with the aim of raising awareness about gender stereotypes and gender inequality while inspiring change through creativity and collaborations. You can find out more through the website or over Instagram. For International Women’s Day in March 2021, I conducted a written interview with Claudia about her works in the online exhibition “Yin My Way Out”, presented by ARTPOWHER Contemporary which launched on Artsy on May 8th and will be coming to an end on June 10th. Within the scope of the exhibition, I wrote an essay on the art of illustration which covers the history of illustration, how the arts sector views illustration, how the emergence of the digital has had an effect on this, and why there is some friction when it comes to using the labels of “illustrator” and “artist”. You can read my essay and the interview here: https://artpowher.com/editorial/ ABOUT ME: I am an Austrian-American art historian, curator, and writer.
