Episode Thirty-Seven: Reunited And It Feels So Good

Episode Thirty-Five: It's All About That Beard!
Welcome to this week's guest, Phillip Santiago! Phillip joins us from California to share more of his experience as a black transman doing his thing and rocking his beloved beard. He is the first openly transgender brand ambassador for Maestro's Classic, a Beard Care Product Brand. Coming out about 10 years ago means he has been living as a man, essentially stealth, for quite a while now. Working as a writer for studios like Warner Bros, Phillip is a great example of a strong transman who is driven to not let his gender hold him back.  Listen in to hear more from this laidback, insightful, and funny man.

Episode Thirty-Three: Teaching A New Generation
Joined by Mrs. Lauren Lierman, this week's discussion is about teaching the new generation. Jason and Lauren share a conversation about what teaching LGBTQ+ youth is like and talk about the teacher's role in advocacy and ultimately ensuring the best learning environment for all students.  As a cisgender teacher herself, Lauren is passionate about doing everything she can for the LGBTQ+ students in her music classes. Offering a new perspective and sharing more classroom experiences, this episode hopes to shed light on the complexity of creating change and obstacles that come along. It is not meant to be a how-to workshop or teaching training, but more an open conversation. Teachers have such an impact and can no longer encourage stereotypes or silence their students. We need teachers and administrators who understand their role in the fight for equality.

Episode Thirty-One: The Other Woman in My Life
Ann Hoeppner was terrified to come out at age 54 by telling her wife "it's time to tell you about the other woman in my" She had already begun hormones and was contemplating suicide if her wife wasn't on board. However, almost 20 years later they are still together, she's thriving as a woman, and here to share her story. The 73 year old former insurance agent, now does electrolysis for cis and trans folks. In this episode, Jason is joined by Dr. Markie Twist (she/her/they/them) and youth activist Leif (Leif/they/them/he/him). One of the most common phrases transphobic people like use is "God doesn't make mistakes." Well, what if we told you Jason agrees? What if he made us this way? Listen to find out his views on how to make sense of someone being trans in a religious sense. Jason describes what he's noticed after living 31 years as a female and now almost three as a male. He sees life from two perspectives regarding gender stereotypes, double standards, male privilege, and how each gender communicates/connects with each other and doesn't really feel the grass is greener on either side!

Much like deep unconscious racism, there is often a lot more transphobia going on than we immediately recognize, even within the trans community itself.
