In this short five minute episode I share how the Metallica lyric "forever trusting who we are and nothing else matters" has helped focus my mindset and how it can help yours.
Love to know your thoughts. Message me at email@example.com with any comments or questions
In this podcast I reflect on how much of a challenge 2019 has been.
I have learned:
1. Love is REALLY important to me
2. I have the courage to do whatever it takes
3. Even in my hardest times, I still have the strength to serve and look after others
4. There is so much out of our control, just focus on what you can control and that's how we show up and how we lead
5. God has a plan for me and I am learning to trust in that
6. The right people can make such a profound impact on your life - positively or negatively. Choose them wisely.
7. Prioritise your physical and mental health
I'm grateful for it all. I wouldn't be entering 2020 as powerful and purposeful without the pain.
What has 2019 taught you?
What is your focus for 2020?
My focus is to lead with love and serve with purpose. Everyday.
Much love and thank you
In this 3 minute podcast I share the unlikely connection between one of the greatest sports teams of all time, the New Zealand All Blacks, and the sequel to the billion dollar Disney movie Frozen.
Hope it helps in someway.
The book I refer to is "Perform Under Pressure" by Dr. Ceri Evans.
In this 7 minute podcast I share my reflections on "If the world is ending..."
I just don't think we would be sat around reflecting on how much money we made, how many possessions we had acquired or what job status we'd achieved.
Give it a listed to find out what I would be reflecting on.
I'd love to know how you would reflect right now if the world was ending.
If you want to get involved in the #ABTY20 challenge, head over to facebook, join our community and post your reflections.
I share what I think helps create a mindset and culture of innovation. I cover the importance of leadership, curiosity, courage, failure and simply practicing!
I'd love to hear your feedback.
In this short 3 minute podcast, I share my reflections on getting clear on who you are without the distraction of comparing yourself to others.
Please do share with me your reflections and you questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Ep 61 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Senior Leader, life coach and military veteran Chris Middleton
Chris shared his story and the things this man has had to overcome in his life so far is nothing short of inspiring.
A story of such pain and loss, purpose, meaning and giving back.
The man has a huge degree of humility and recognised the various people he had in his corner that helped him become the man he is today, showing the importance of who you have around you really matters.
We also touched on his experiences with StrongMen and how powerful the bond has become between people with shared understanding and experiences.
Such a powerful conversation that I hope you will share with someone who needs to hear it.
In this short episode, I share with the ABTY community how I had to admit I was breaking before I could start doing what I needed to do to rebuild stronger.
One month ago I sat in a car park and cried my eyes out.
Listen to find out why and what helped me turn things round.
Much love & keep showing up
Tough times don't last, tough people do.
This week WE ARE ABTY hit two years old.
This community that started and that we’ve created together has been a place of safety, connection, love and inspiration for not only me but hundred of people all around the world. 🌎
We held a Facebook live together and shared stories of what being part of ABTY means to us.
This is what matter most. True impact. Not numbers.
Numbers will only look to advance the group and show it and me as successful (or not).
For me, it’s more about the stories and hearing how the community has helped others be more successful.
That’s the true value of our community.
We rise by lifting others.
Through love, non judgment, empathy, service and accountability.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey either watching or taking an active part and a special thank you to the 50+ people who have contributed their time, energy and love to help others be better than yesterday.
Proud Founder of WE ARE ABTY 🌎💙
In this Thursday thought, I share insight into how we can be more careful with the meaning we seek when bad things happen or tough times show.

Keep watching until the end to find out what that means and so much more insight.

In this Thursday Thought I share how creating a vision as a leader or business owner can not only unite people, but divide people and make sure you get the right people on the bus and keep the wrong people off the bus.

Ep 59 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Emma-Louise Munro Wilson founder of emari.co.uk
Hearing Emma-Louise talk about her story and the challenges she’s overcome in her life, I couldn’t help but be inspired by what she shared.
One thing I love that she now does as a result of her challenges in the past is to never miss an opportunity to tell people how much they mean to her.
Hopefully hearing this episode will inspire you to make the most of that before we have to experience loss in our life.
I also enjoyed how Emma-Louise is showing up with Emari in a way that is true and consistent with her values and beliefs.
Another practical tip that was shared were the 7 questions she asks herself daily. My favourite of this were have I loved enough, what have I learned and have I made a difference.
Head to Facebook | YouTube | podcast for the full interview.

Ep 58 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Donovan McKenzie founder of @heartofaman_
Heart of a Man is a movement that is redefining what it means to be a man.
Donovan himself has struggled with depression, anxiety, PTSD as well as cultural pressures on what it means to be a “man”.
We talked about all the great things HOAM stands for and are doing in the world to help men with their emotional and mental health.
Biggest takeaway. Positive vulnerability is a strength. It really is ok to not be ok.

Ep 56 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with elf love expert and manifesting Queen Gina Swire 👑
Gina is on a global mission to help a billion women fall madly in love with themselves.
After struggling with her own self-worth and image issues, Gina quit her career as a plus sized model at the height of her fame in order to embark on her own journey of transformation.
This was such a powerful conversation.
Gina’s transformation happened from the inside out. At the levels of her identity and her beliefs.
Once she begun to love and accept herself her friends began to notice on the outside.
“I chose to love and accept myself”
I also loved Gina’s commitment to remove things from her life that no longer served her. A true testament to self love and creating healthy boundaries.
There was so much insight and value in this conversation. Be sure to check the interview out in full and head to GinaSwire.com for more content.
Ep 55 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Leyla Amba Bakali-Laughton founder of We are undressed zero waste shop in #Trowbridge
We talked about what inspired her to take action with We are Undressed and how the local community is getting behind the mission.
It’s about raising consciousness and creating a better world for her daughter to live in.
It was also great to hear how personal development is something that has helped Leyla and her mindset along the way.
Be sure to head over to the WAU and give it a follow. If you feel inspired to contribute to her crowdfunding page I am sure she and the community would be grateful.

Ep 54 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Efrem Brynin, director of Strongmen, a charity that aims to tackle emotional and mental health issues brought about by the suffering from bereavement.
I was a little more nervous before this episode, mainly because I had heard Efrem speak at the Mind Yourself LYL event and it's safe to say I shed a few tears hearing his story.
It was at that event that I realised the power that one talk or one podcast can have on our lives. I realised it can be life changing. Perspective changing.
Sadly, in 2013 Efrem's son was killed on his second tour of Afghanistan.
In 2016 Efrem was #11 on SAS Who Dares Wins Series 2, an experience which likely saved his life as it was there he displayed symptoms that led to his cancer diagnosis.
Not only has he overcome cancer and now in remission, he has joined forces with Dan Cross from Series 3 of SAS WDW and Ollie Ollerton in setting up StrongMen.
There is so much in this conversation we can learn from. Perspective. Purpose. Leadership. Courage. Resilience. Health and well-being.
For me, i'm inspired to live more in the moment, make the most of the simple things and to focus on making the best out of life and situations.
If you are or know a man who is struggling with emotional and mental health issues as a result of bereavement, do share www.StrongMen.org.uk with them.
It could change their life for the better.
I'd love to know what you take away from this powerful conversation.
Interview also available on Facebook and YouTube.
This week I started listening to Dottir by Katrin Davidsdottir 2x fittest woman on earth.
Just the foreword itself got me hooked. It was written by Katrin’s coach Ben Bergeron
Ben talks about building athletes from the inside out. It’s something I believe in too with mindset and leadership coaching.
He goes on to describe 4 character traits that he looks for when taking on a new athlete.
I’ve given a quick summary of what these character traits mean in my latest podcast (Link in bio).
It’s a short 5 minute episode. Go check it out.
I’m a couple of chapters through the book. It’s so good.
I will be sure to share my learning with you and who knows, maybe one day I’ll get to interview Katrin and ask her all my curious questions about her mindset.
Ep 53 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Rebecca Case-Lawler of Lawler Sport and Performance Consulting LLC
Rebecca is a former elite tennis player, USCG and now a performance consultant.
Rebecca has a really strong sense of service which led her to joining the USCG after the events of 9/11 only to have to leave a few years later through injury.
Injury again cut short her professional tennis career.
What I loved hearing from Rebecca is that despite this adversity, she “chose to have a different outlook”.
It was also great to hear how her mindset from her tennis days of precision and execution, came in handy on an operation with the USCG.
Based on this conversation, I got a huge sense of hope, optimism, service, excellence and hard work are all core components of her mindset.
Summarised by the phrase “I can, I will”.

This weakness soon became his biggest strength. His ability to adapt.
He is the founder of the no label defines me movement. Having no label define you creates possibility he says.
Nathan has a powerful mindset that has helped him adapt and overcome physical adversity and now inspires others to take accountability and ownership of their own lives.

Ep 49 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with retired 2 Para Captain and Systema Instructor Systema Academy Matt Hill
I really enjoyed getting to know a bit more about Matt and his experiences.
It was great to hear how living in Japan for two years shaped his development and actually made his military training at Sandhurst a little easier. Mentally speaking at least!
As a former Captain I was of course curious to know more about his leadership learnings. Of course we discussed what it means to serve and to sacrifice. But his definition of leadership was one I hadn’t heard before and it speaks volumes.
Leadership is the communication of emotion - Matt Hill
Matt owns his own Systema academy in Melksham, Wiltshire. I enjoyed hearing more about Systema and it’s ability to help develop better people through body and mind techniques.
We also discussed a little about mentorship with Systema Vasiliev: Russian Martial Art
As a final thought Matt simply said “Don’t rush, savour the moment.”

Ep 47 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Heather Parady entrepreneur, podcast host and community leader.
It was great to hear how Heather has pursued her calling and entrepreneurship from an early age.
I enjoyed hearing what it meant to be an “unconventional leader” and in Heather’s words, some of the best leaders come from unconventional backgrounds and have developed great empathy, are purpose driven and impact focused. Something I wholeheartedly connect with.
There were lots of other practical things to note in our conversation, particularly the really strong habit of journalling which Heather has maintained for over 10 years.

Ep 46 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Chelsea Simpson speaker, coach and NLP master practitioner.

We had a great conversation about Kelvin’s journey into leadership and as his brand clearly states... Kelvin Inspires!

How will this help you be better than yesterday?

Much love 💙
Last night I revisited one of my favourite TV series Band of Brothers. I've learned a lot about leadership since I first watched it years ago.
It was incredible to watch the leadership style of David Schwimmer's character Captain Herbert Sobel.
In this short podcast I share my thoughts on why his leadership was soo poor that led people in his command refusing to follow him into war and what I think he could have done differently to get the best out of those around him.
I also know that Major Winters is the real true leader and can't wait to learn and be inspired by him in the up and coming episodes.
Love to know your thoughts!
Ep 44 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Jeff Jackson co-founder of Depression2Extinction
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and this is something that Coach JJ is making his mission. To beak the stigma of depression to raise emotional awareness.
It was such a powerful, raw and inspiring conversation.
Coach JJ and the D2E team really are making a difference to people’s lives across the world. Their BeReal check in process is something that has be shown to help a lot.
Coach JJ describes himself as a train wreck of a human. I couldn’t believe the brutality of this. He’s turned his trauma into purpose and is doing wonderful things. Be sure to check out D2E at depression2extinction.org and see the full interview on Facebook | YouTube | Podcast.

Ep 43 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Dan Thomas founder of HeadStrong Mentality
The ABTY community absolutely loved Dan, and it wasn’t because he came on topless. It was because he was real, honest, raw and gave some great insight developing a mindset to manage and overcome anxiety.
We talked about how Headstrong Mentality came to be and that it’s all about helping you be the best you.
It was also great to hear about how #CrossFit has become a big part of his life, having a community of likeminded positive people challenge and support him be even better. Sound familiar?
Dan’s take on what it means to be ABTY is to focus on being 1% better everyday. One more rep. A little heavier. And to celebrate your wins!

Ep 40 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with entrepreneur, coach, speaker, author and podcast host Tommy Gentleman
I have recently started reading Tommy’s book “Back Yourself” and was great to hear the some of the key moments that have shaped his powerful mindset.

Ep 37 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Angela Ramel Holistic Feminine Embodiment Mentor.
This conversation with Angela was so intriguing. She described her family environment growing up as somewhere taboo subjects were easily talked about. Some of the content Angela shared, people might not be used to. But me being the curious person I am, I loved it.
A big part of Angela’s approach is to get out of the mind and into the senses. Embracing orgasmic, sensual energy.
There are a number of things Angela referred to that have helped her and how she now helps others, such as yoga, micro meditations, movement, yoni healing, anchoring, hypnosis and saying yes to pleasure!
Angela is intuitive and authentic and loves helping people to self love, self care and self pleasure. She believes that people who show up with this orgasmic energy are better for those people around them.

I admire Luke's attitude of “there must be more to life” and how he has used that along with “no regrets” to keep him growing and moving forward.
The standout quote for me was “I can do anything, but I might not be able to do everything”.
Luke is a passionate young man with a desire to help people win. He is a leader and it has been my pleasure to serve alongside him in his Grow2Gether community.

We had a great conversation about Nicole’s mindset, what helps her show up as an entrepreneur, educator (Udemy)and someone who has grown a very large social media following.
We also talked about why communication is important and how developing leaders can develop their communication skills by learning first how to listen!
I also love it when I hear other people say they are doing what they love. It’s not an easy option but it makes the tough times easier.

Ep 29 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Session was with Bodybuilding Champion, Personal Trainer, Mindset Coach, Entrepreneur and DJ Troy Brown
This was a powerful conversation and true to my being a life long learner, I took so much from this episode.
I took lots of notes from all the value that Troy was dropping 💣
We discussed what it takes to compete at the highest level. To develop discipline, to work with vision, persistence, purpose, curiosity, self improvement and service.
I love Troy’s approach to keep pushing the comfort zone, becoming comfortable with feeling uncomfortable.
Be sure to check out the full interview on Facebook | YouTube | Podcast and if you want to hear more, subscribe to Troy’s persistence factor podcast.
I really enjoyed this one. Hope you do too.
In the first mentor session of 2019 I join up with Leadership Speaker Jonathan Darling and talk about:
1. What it means to Engage the Heart
2. Reflect on Jonathan's recent leadership speaking experience
3. What it means to be a servant leader and how to develop it.
Spoiler alert. Show you care. Put your needs to one side. Focus on others. Focus on the small things. Make a positive difference to the lives of others. Give more than you take.

Ep 28 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with UFC fighter John Gunther ( @followmeimblind )
This was a fascinating interview. One that I'd been dying to have since I saw John on the Ultimate Fighter.
John has a unique mindset and character. I really liked hearing his perspective on pain.
“Learn to enjoy pain and life will be wonderful”
It was also great to hear how he reflects on and learns from defeat and keeps moving forward.
We touched on confidence, how how much you learn and grow as a human in the octagon, recovering from injury and just loving what you do.
This was a really enjoyable conversation with someone that competes on a worldwide stage.
I hope you find great value and insight in the talk. Head over to Facebook | YouTube for the full video.
In the first live I shared with the We Are ABTY community, I gave some tips to help people raise their consciousness in 2019.
1. Focus on what you want
2. Be mindful of how you want to think
3. Consider who you want to spend time with
4. Be mindful and present when travelling
With focus and purpose it is my hope that we can live more intentionally and less on autopilot in 2019.
Ep 27 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Brian Formato founder of Leadersurf.
This conversation, when it finally happened, was well worth the facebook difficulties.
I loved hearing about Brian’s leadership retreat concept and how powerful an experiential learning environment is for developing leaders.
There was so much value in this conversation that’s it’s hard to pick my favourite parts.
I loved two parts of the leadersurf programme.
The self discovery and personal growth through reflection and surfing. Secondly, the humanitarian work to help leaders experience the power of servant leadership.
I am definitely going to experience this programme one day.
Head over to Facebook | YouTube | Podcast to check out the full interview.
Ep 26 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with life coach Esther McCann
This was such a powerful conversation filled with many great mindset takeaways for people to implement in their own journey.
Esther has taken herself from rock bottom in her own life to now living a life she loves and helping others do the same.
We talk about mindset, self doubt, courage, mindfulness and much more.
Ultimately she summed it up perfectly by saying..
“You deserve to be happy”
What would we do differently if we believe that to be true? Powerful.

Episode 25 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Nahla Summers, coach, speaker, author, podcast host and founder of Sunshine People.
I found this conversation hugely inspiring and hope you will too.
Nahla sadly lost her partner unexpectedly in his early 40’s and I felt privileged to hear how Nahla not only coped during this time but used it as a way of living her life to the fullest since.
I enjoyed hearing how she is on a mission to spread kindness and also help develop emotional intelligence in young people and WHY these things are important to her.

During our interview, Anna talked about how she developed the mindset of a world champion.
She also talked about how before she could lead a team she first had to learn how to lead herself.
I particularly liked the bit where Anna talked about the importance of doing something you love and the difference this can make in terms of how you show up.
Anna is now on a mission to empower the next generation and is the host of the Aspire to Greatness podcast which you should go and check out.

I hope that something within this love resonates with you and that you’ve either learned or been inspired to try something new in your own journey.
Please do share it with that one person you think needs to hear it.

I've always wanted to do a Fearless Motivation inspired track. I also wanted to mark the anniversary of a difficult period in my journey and reflect on the amount of growth you can have in a year.
In this podcast I combine the two in what I called Heart Felt Motivation. No notes and speaking from the heart on the topic of belonging.
I'm constantly seeking to push my comfort zone and aim to add some value in the process.
I'd love to know your thoughts.
Ep 22 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Jonathan Darling from Engage The Heart ‘an ordinary guy trying to make an extra-ordinary impact’.
Jonathan spoke with such passion and I loved hearing him speak. He is an ultra marathon runner, leadership speaker and self branded ‘Heart-repreneur’
I love Jonathan’s view on leadership which is all about making a positive difference in the lives of others and to him, being a heart-repreneur means he connects with the hearts of others, leading with love to build self belief and purpose.
We also took a dive into the mindset of ultra marathon running and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable.
We also touched on community support and I love what he said about his own journey. By putting fear to one side and showing up, putting out what he believes, the right people have come into his life. This is something I can wholeheartedly relate to.
This interview was a lot of fun and I have a lot of love for JD.

Episode 21 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Loni Kolek, Head Coach of the Lady Raiders Volleyball Team.
In this interview we talked about leadership and culture.
Loni and I first met through our joint appreciation of the @allblacks culture described in the book #Legacy by James Kerr.
It was great to hear about how the Lady Raiders have focused on leaving the jersey in a better place this year.
We also touch on building trust, holding each other accountable and developing growth mindsets.
It was a great talk and if you are a leader of a business team or sports team, hopefully there will be something you can take away and implement in your own journey that will help you and those around you be always better than yesterday 💙
Corey, aged 6 gave a facebook live mentor session in the WE ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY community on growth mindset.
He talked about the power of YET and how Practice makes PROGRESS.
He is a special little dude and just buzzing with pride when he started talking about being Always Better than Yesterday because he never gives up and learns every single day.
Super proud of my champ.
Thank you Matthew Syed for writing a book that's inspired us both. You are awesome.
This episode is taken from my WHY Wednesday session that I shared in the WE ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY community.
I had recently reflected and reconnected with parts of my story and was this first time sharing some of this stuff.
In this episode, you will learn WHY I do what I do. I hope it inspires you to think and reflect on WHY you do what you do.
This week the WE ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY community turned ONE!
I started the community a year ago as a safe space for people (especially me) to come and be themselves, be inspired and the opportunity to be inspiring.
A community of likeminded people who believe in developing themselves and others to being better than they were yesterday.
I shared that in one year, we had 346 members who had asked to join (no spam adding!) of which 90% were active in the last week. This tells me its providing a meaningful space people want to come which I love.
We span 10 countries and the connections between our members has been truly special to watch.
We had 33 WHY Wednesday’s, 29 Mentor Sessions, 2 WHY workshops, 2 book reviews, 1 group HIIT and 1 live find your WHY Session.
As I tried to thank the awesome 40 contributors, I was flooded with emotion. Truly grateful and blessed to be surrounded by some of the most incredible human beings I’ve ever connected with.
I shared my personal highlights and growth in the year and was joined live by lots of our members who did the same.
It was the best feeling ever. Words can not do it justice. I am truly thankful to the community and am excited to see the people we become by being always better than yesterday.
You can grow at lot in a year 💙
Episode 20 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Amanda Thomas, owner of the House of Harmony.
Amanda gave an incredibly vulnerable and inspiring WHY Wednesday in the ABTY community and was great to be able to follow it up with an interview and ask how she had turned her life around.
We dug a little deeper into her purpose and the story behind that. I also explored how Amanda nurtured and developed her intuition.
Being able to strip her old negative thoughts and feelings and replace them with a clear sense of who see really is, what she values and her daily affirmations have made a significant difference in her life.
Amanda is an incredible lady and I urge you to check out the full interview either on Facebook | YouTube | Podcast
You will definitely be able to take something away and find some value on applying it in your own journey 💙
Ep 19 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Sonia McDonald CEO and Founder of LeadershipHQ 🙌🏻
The audio my end was terrible due to Facebook issues but here’s the thing. I was not going to miss an opportunity to speak with an inspiring role model, mentor, awesome human being and one of the worlds top 250 most influential females. No no no. So I kept smiling and hoped to add as much value as possible.
Sonia wrote a book called Leadership Attitude which I love and was great to hear more about what inspired her leadership journey and what leadership means to her.
I hope the talk inspires you to think and reflect on your own leadership and to pursue your potential.
Brooke (Spidergirl) joined us toward the end and Sonia offered to send her a copy of her book Just Rock It. A book she wrote with her own daughter in mind.
Sonia, thank you. I’m sorry the audio was terrible. It was a great pleasure sharing the space with you. 🇬🇧🇦🇺🙏🏻💙
For more of Sonia’s content head to her @soniamcdonald1 | @leadershiphq or leadershiphq.com.au

Ep 17 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Tedx speaker and entrepreneur Sara Gaver (@wheellifeconnections)
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to understand Sara’s mindset.
We talked about perceptions, positivity, leadership, self development and purpose.
Sara is a hugely empowering and inspiring leader when it comes to encouraging others to live with no limits.
I loved hearing Sara’s perspective on life. A pure example of leadership, courage, determination and ambassador for living a life without limits.
In total awe. Be sure to check out the full interview on Facebook | YouTube | Podcast 🙏🏻💙
Ep 16 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Team USA freestyle kayaker Katie Fankhouser 🇺🇸
During the interview I was blown away by the mindset that Katie has developed at 16 years of age.
We spoke about confidence, overcoming fear, training, competition, setting goals and being better than yesterday.
It was amazing how kayaking has given Katie confidence and how that has impacted in other areas of life.
I also loved the story Katie shared about the skippy rippy. A move she created whilst competing at the world championships. Innovation under pressure. True confidence 🙌🏻
Her final message was “do what you love” and I couldn’t agree more. 👏🏻
Katie was super inspiring and is definitely an interview you should check out and certainly share with any young people in your life. 🙏🏻
Head to Katie's Facebook | Instagram (Katie Fankhouser | @Katie.Kayak) for more of her content.
Ep 15 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Session was with my man Chris Phillips drummer of SCOUT KILLERS 🖤
During the talk we discussed Chris’ mindset when it came to pre show nerves, overcoming set backs and empty shows as well as diving into the creativity process of creating new material with his band mates.
The biggest takeaway though is the power of doing what you love.
Chris wouldn’t describe himself as naturally gifted and very rarely dedicated himself to getting better at anything growing up.
He always had a passion for drums so when he invested in his first kit, this started the process of Chris truly becoming better than yesterday.
It is by doing what he loved that motivated him to continually learn, practice, dedicate himself to his craft and keep going in the good times and especially the hard times on the road.
Head to ChrisPhillipsDrummer.co.uk to check out more. You can find Scout Killers on all music platforms and ScoutKillers.com
In this mentor session for the WE ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY community, I share my opinions on the subject of Leadership vs. Management.
You may pick up on my bias but I believe only one of these will change the world and only one of these will unlock the potential in others and that is LEADERSHIP.
I hope you find the rant useful and would love to hear your view, opinions and stories of great leadership and management.
Ep 14 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with fitness and lifestyle coach Zachariah Thompson from Columbus, Ohio.
Zachariah has an inspiring story. He has a heart condition and has a internal defibrillator which has saved his life THREE times!
From being lost and feeling like a victim, he now uses his story to inspire others as well as make sure he is living a purposeful and impactful life.
His coaching business Heartbeat Strength is more than words. It’s a mission and a purpose. To create strong hearts and inspired lives.
During the talk we dived into
To find out more about Zachariah and how he can serve and inspire you, head to heartbeatstrength.com 💙
Ep 13 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with the authentically inspiring @followyourwholeheart Empowerment and Wellbeing coach from Colorado, USA.
Chris’ WHY is to relieve people’s suffering. It was great to hear a bit more about how this shows up in her life and work and how she helps people. 🙏🏻
Chris’ coaching practice is all about living a Wholehearted life and again it was beautiful to understand what this meant to to her. ❤️
We took a dive into a number of areas such as purpose, needs, limiting beliefs, values, presence, physiology and confidence. 🙌🏻
Chris has an incredible mindset and a passion to serve others. It was a real pleasure to interview her and I’m sure it will give you something to take away and think about in your own journey.
In this live I shared within the WE ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY community I talk about the concept of wallowing.
I recently read the book S.U.M.O by Paul McGee and in it, he talks about Hippo Time. We are human and to be human is to feel emotion. To feel the positive we must first know what the negative feels like.
In this short session you will hear that it is ok to wallow but to be mindful of three things.
1. What you share
2. Who you share it with
3. How long you stay in wallow time
If this podcast adds you value, I'd love for you to subscribe and share it with the one person you feel would benefit from it.
In this mentor session I share with you 7 principals that I believe can help you be more positive.
1. MIND YOUR LANGUAGE
2. WHAT YOU FOCUS ON GROWS - SO FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE
3. STAND FOR SOMETHING
4. MAKE POSITIVE CHOICES
5. SERVE WITH A SMILE
6. ONLY POSITIVE PEOPLE ALLOWED
7. LEAVE THE WORLD A MORE POSITIVE PLACE
As always, I'd love to know what resonates most with you. Do drop me a message or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Ep 12 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with @the_why_blog host @luke_fraz
What amazed me was that we both have been inspired on our journey by watching @simonsinek #TedTalk and it has led us to connect deeply through purpose, something which Luke passionately represents. 🙌🏻
Luke is a real life example of the vision I have for the future leaders I want to create. Purpose driven, authentic, curious, courageous, vulnerable and an ability to connect and inspire other human beings. 🙏🏻
There is so much in this conversation that people can learn from.
We dive deeper into authenticity, purpose and service as well as feeling the fear and doing it anyway, surrounded by great people pushing you to become more. 🔥
Be sure to check out our talk on Facebook, YouTube or podcast and give Luke a follow to immerse yourself in more of his inspiring content.
Ep 11 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with 2x Paralympic Gold Medallist and Motivational Speaker Stephanie Millward MBE 🥇🥇
After some technical difficulties, I had what was easily one of the most inspiring conversations I have ever had.
Asking @millward.stephanie my curious questions about her habits, her mindset and her motivation, I quickly got an insight into the person behind the achievements.
In the episode you will hear the:
POWER of a DREAM
POWER of POSITIVITY
POWER of COMMITMENT
POWER of DEDICATION
POWER of VISUALISATION
POWER of TEAMWORK
POWER of PURPOSE
The audio quality is not perfect but the content and the message is priceless 🔥
The people closest to you will either hold you back or raise you.
In this mentor session, I help you understand how you can raise your average, increase your self belief and become always better than yesterday.
In this short episode, I share with you a story about a wonderful man I met in 2017 through my time with the Princes Trust called Tom.
Tom has Downs Syndrome. But this does not stop him from having a positive impact on everyone he meets.
My message here is simple. We can effect great change. It isn't about changing the world. It's about making an impact and a difference with every interaction we have.
One person at a time.
Ep 10 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Leadership and Business Coach Helen Packham.
During the interview, Helen shared her story, a story that involves telling her story through a @tedx_official she gave at the Brighton Dome and how she now helps leaders stand out by telling their own story.
It was great to hear a bit more about what it meant for Helen to BELIEVE and DREAM and also how vision boards and visualisation played a bit part in helping her along the way.
I particularly like the insight she gave into preparing her mindset before delivering her TedX talk. She used the Power Pose by @amycuddy as used a POWER word 🔥
Helen’s story and view on the world is an idea more than worthy of spreading as she now helps develop COURAGEOUS Leaders.
Head to HelenPackham.co.uk or connect on Facebook to find out more from Helen.
Episode 9 was with Swedish NLP Business Coach and Leader Anna Sandborn 💙
Anna talked about how surviving a serious car accident at the age of 15 has given her the perspective to live her life and to do the things she wants to do 🙌🏻
After a lot of success and achievement throughout her 20’s, Anna started to lose herself in her early 30’s.
What is unbelievable is that Anna survived another serious car accident. 😲
This gave her another reminder that she has to make the most of the life she has been blessed with.
Anna’s shared some lessons she’s learned along the way:
💙Look back at your achievements, progress and lessons to gain strength
💙Pain can take you to a better place
💙Show vulnerability and ask for help
💙Set healthy boundaries with things or people
💙Do I have to it do I want to? - do more of what you want to
It was a privilege to interview Anna. She has been a wonderful contributor to the WE ARE ABTY community and I’m very grateful for her support and friendship.
In this mentor session I share my take on developing leadership using my 3 pillars approach.
Pillar 1. Leading yourself
Pillar 2. Leading Others
Pillar 3. Leaving a Legacy
It wasn't scripted and came from the heart. I even went off topic and brought in a Finding Nemo reference.
I offer my thoughts on leadership to help support and inspire developing leaders to find their own views and identity as a leader.
I am passionate about developing confident and authentic leaders who lead with purpose. Find out how in this session.
In this session, my son Corey wanted to do his first ever facebook live to my community of nearly 300 people, to talk about coaching, confidence and to help them be happy.
Its amazing what we can learn from curiosity, kindness and innocence.
I am super proud of him. He may not want to be like his Dad in future and be a coach and that's ok. I know that his values of service and kindness will mean that he goes on to make a difference wherever he goes.
In this mentor session, I shared some self development tips and tricks with the awesome Sassy Squad, a community of over 750 inspiring women, growing themselves and their businesses.
During the session I shared tips to help with creating clarity, developing belief, overcoming failure, setting goals and finding motivation.
One of my favourite mindset tips I shared was to "talk to yourself not listen to yourself". this one has helped me on many occasions.
I hope you enjoy the content and that it adds you value. do let me know what the most valuable takeaway was for you.
In this bonus self development mentor session I share the 8 habits I have developed that have help me be Always Better than Yesterday.
Habit 1. Self reflection
Habit 2. Seek feedback
Habit 3. Set goals
Habit 4. Work on my mindset
Habit 5. Surround myself with likeminded people
Habit 6. Maximise my time
Habit 7. Maximise my resources
Habit 8. Practice self care

Ep 8 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with the inspiring Gemma Hunt 🙌🏻
I approached Gemma because I think she is a perfect example of what it means to love what you do and I think she is a wonderful role model for young children in her role at the CBBC ☠️
I really want to be able to show to young people that successful people are no different to them and that with the right attitude and mindset, anything is possible. 🏆
It was great to hear Gemma talk about how she found out what she loved to do from an early age which was to entertain children. However, had she listened to her career adviser and played it safe, she may have never ended up fulfilling her hearts desire, her potential and inspiring thousands of young people. 👏🏻
At the end of the interview I asked what her 3 big lessons in life were so far. Her response was beautiful. Here’s the short version:
1️⃣ follow your hearts desire
2️⃣ keep your cheerleaders close
3️⃣ always believe in yourself
Ep 7 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Reece Anderson
During the interview it was inspiring to hear how Reece went from being a fit and able sportsman to being crippled by panic attacks and mental health issues which lead him to attempting to take his own life 😢
It is amazing to see how he came back from being at his lowest point to now being someone that helps others overcome their own mental health issues. 💪🏻
Some of the key lessons Reece has learned along the way are
💡Take Ownership - you can have all the support in the world but until you admit “I’m not ok” only then can you start to take action
💡Don’t try and please everyone
💡Prioritise self care - not always the popular choice but looking after himself meant he was a better person to be around
We also talked about a toolkit he has developed to help himself with any struggles
🧠Checking in with his body, recognising triggers
🧠Moving the body
I Interviewed @davidavolpe in Ep 6 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions. 📽
David’s book @justathoughtbook is one of my favourite self development books and it was amazing to hear what inspired David to write it.
My favourite quote from the book was Mike Tyson’s “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”. 🥊
David’s favourite quote was “to live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist and that is all”.
David’s enthusiasm and passion shone through as he spoke and I highly recommend heading to my Facebook page to check out the full interview.
I am sure it will inspire you to check out his book. Many listeners already have! 📘
Ep 5 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with Craig McHugh, coach, trainer, speaker and owner of @livingyourlearning 🎥💙 After having Craig speak recently on #WHYWednesday within my community, I asked him a bit about his purpose which in short is about helping people, teams and organisations be BETTER at what they do 📈 When I first spoke with Craig I was instantly drawn to him, how he talked and what he stood for. It was only when hearing his WHY that the penny dropped. We are both on this planet to do the same thing, just going about it our individual ways! 🙌🏻 Craig talked a bit about what being Always Better than Yesterday means to him, how he is ABTY and how his consultancy LivingYourLearning helps teams and organisations be ABTY. 🤩 It was a fascinating insight into the great man and his mindset. Many live viewers fell in love with him (and his wonderful beard). 🧠🔥
Ep 4 of the Always Better than Yesterday Interview Sessions was with my friend and mentor @shaun_browne 💙
During our talk we discussed:
📚 Advice for school leavers
💤 Morning routines
🌀 Discovering who we truly are
🗣 Public speaking
❤️ Love and connection
I just love hearing the truth and passion with which Shaun speaks. Truly mesmerising.
We may even have sung a bit of Wonderwall at the end to keep pushing my comfort zone and being at peace with who we are.
It was my honour to interview South African Peak Performance Life Coach @michaelrodd. 💙
Michael gave us a great insight into his Peak Performance Framework
What makes this framework great is Michael’s coaching philosophy. He, like I, prefer to focus his approach from the inside out. Exploring WHO we are and WHY, not just what we do. 🏆
Michael believes great coaches have a bigger purpose that drives them to want to help other people. For him, it was his childhood experiences.
His passion for helping people is contagious and I felt privileged to be able to ask him about his experiences ranging from;
🏋🏼♀️ being a top 10 body builder
👑 working with royal family in Monaco
🗣 attending Tony Robbin’s UPW
🧠 his personal development habits
📚 his top recommended book
In the words of Tony Robbins - “knowledge is potential power” and I hope that this helps others learn something new and feel inspired put that into action. 🙌🏻
Always Better than Yesterday Interview Session Ep 2 was with Neil Sinclair, ex commando and author of the @commando_dad book series. 📚
I absolutely loved our discussion about the books, what inspired them and his thoughts and advice on modern parenting. 🙌🏻
Neil gave great insight into;
🧠First time parenting
🧠Asking for help
🧠Fear and anxiety
and of course...
🧠Being always better than yesterday!
It was great to be able to share with Neil my experiences of parenting and how his books, especially Mission Adventure, have inspired me to do more with Corey and Brooke. 💚💜
Neil’s positive energy and passion is so contagious. Head over to my Facebook profile to check out the full interview for inspiration. 🌲⛺️
Be sure to follow Commando Dad and if you feel inspired to pick up one of his books.
