Charles Manson (is an environmentalist?)
This week we dip our toes into true crime in a discussion about the Manson murders and the mythology of Charles Manson. We explore why the murders are still relevant and what the circumstances around the crimes say about where we are today.
Sexism and the personal essay
This week, we dive back into a conversation about sexism and double standards, especially in regards to creative exercises like writing.
The Democratization of Fame
This week, we had a discussion about the meteoric rise of accessible fame. In the last year, TikTok has completely changed the geography and context of fame, building on the influencer culture of the last decade. We want to know why this is happening and what it means. That's what we try to figure out in this episode.
Quitting the comparison
So many things matter and still a lot of things just...don't. This week, we talk about how everything feels different as seniors, even this early into the school year, which includes removing ourselves from comparison culture. It's a non-linear process and it takes effort, but right now, it feels worth it.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the Asian Girl
This week marks the first episode of our new podcast segment Girl Talk where we try to intellectualize topics we find taking up a lot of our time like relationships, race, gender, and men. Today we totally expose our internalized racism in a conversation about Harry Potter, euro-centric beauty standards, and our experiences in Asian woman/white man relationships.
Episode Twenty-four: Instagram
