The Earhart's are concerned about a mistreated horse next door to their Kansas City, Kansas home.  The horses name is Nellie.  

Amelia Earhart's Mom was a beautiful and enthusiastic horsewoman.  Amelia and Muriel wanted to ride.  Grandma did not want the girls to have a horse.  Amelia said Grandmother had been anxious when Mother rode a horse and didn't want to go through that again.  

However, Amelia and Muriel managed to find ways to interact with horses at a young age.  Listen to hear these stories from their lives.

It is 1904. Amelia and Muriel receive a porch swing and are testing its limits.  They also get to play on a Flying Dutchman with their friend Lily.  Lily is from the orphanage and has a scarred hand.

In 1904, Father Edwin Earhart had made $100 and he took the family to the Saint Louis World's Fair.  Amelia got to ride an elephant.  She really wanted to ride the roller coaster.  But Mother thought it looked to dangerous.
