Alexander Hamilton makes a case for being in a position of strength in order to have good commercial relations with foreign nations; one way to show such strength is to have a strong navy. As in the preceding papers, he shows the benefits of remaining united with one strong government, as opposed to separating the region into several parts.

In this episode, I give my thoughts on how the concepts Hamilton discusses in Federalist XI apply to us today.

In this episode, I read what has to be one of the best essays I have read. James Madison makes a clear and robust case for the adoption of a republic over a direct democracy, and how the former is better at resolving factions than the latter.

There are a lot of "times change, people don't moments" in this paper. I only cover a few, in particular, those that show Madison would be fighting against the evils of socialism if he was alive today. The man knew socialism was wicked about 100 years before that bum Marx wrote his foolish "I'm lazy, gimme money" pamphlet.

In Federalist 9, Alexander Hamilton continues the argument for unifying the states under one federal government, this time focusing on the advantage a unified nation would have against domestic factions and insurrections. 

In this paper, Hamilton warns that a disunited America will only result in hostilities between the separate states or confederacies, because we would not enjoy an "insular situation," which would require a minimum soldiery; each state or confederacy would immediately raise armies to "protect" themselves from possible incursions from the others, in particular the smaller states or confederacies.

He also warns that a people who live in constant fear of attack will readily give over their rights to the government or its agencies in order to feel more secure. Thus, a United  America, resulting in a more secure situation for the people, would also have the benefit of securing the rights of the People.

If only Hamilton were here now...

In this episode, I read Federalist 7, which to me, sounded like Hamilton was giving a lecture at a college. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but after being able to draw some strong emotions from Federalist 6 (sarcasm, frustration, etc.), Federalist 7 seemed kind of "dry;" however, it was still very instructive, and there were a couple "times change, people don't" moments in it.

In 7, Hamilton concludes his argument on dissensions between the States, citing possible sources of tensions between the States which would escalate to wars should the Union were to collapse.

This is part 1 of Alexander Hamilton's warning that having several and separate "republics" in close geographic proximity, even with commercial ties, may still result in conflict between said states, and gives a historical view of various states in Europe that have gone to war. Barney style: Neighbors often don't make for good friends when times get tough.

There are several "times change, people don't" moments in this one, and I go over a couple that caught my eye in the closing remarks. What moments did you find?

This episode concludes the subject "Concerning Dangers From Foreign Force And Influence" that began with Federalist II. Speaking of dangers from foreign influence, did you know that some of our members of Congress, in particular those in the House Intelligence Committee, have been getting busy with Chinese spies? Unlike these arrogant politicians, and in-keeping with a quote from Federalist III, I apologize for a grievous error that I have made in previous episodes; this is regarding the authors of the Federalist papers. I have taken steps to prevent such errors in the future, and promise to be more diligent with the information I give you.  As with previous episodes, I found a "times change, people don't" moment in Federalist 5. I encourage you to look for them as we go through these, and let me know what you found them to be. 

Federalist III and IV were relatively short, so I decided to put them together in one episode. John Jay builds on his case, which he began in Federalist II, that having one Federal Government would be more beneficial for the people of the newly formed nation. In III he argues that a united government would be in a stronger position to negotiate treaties and prevent wars; in IV he lays out the advantages in being united should a war with another country break out. Times change, people don't. I think that will be the motto of this project. I am astounded at how writings from almost 250 years ago apply to our government, and the state of our country, today. 

In this episode, I read the second Federalist essay, written by John Jay, aptly named Federalist II. The next essays (Federalist III-V), all deal with the same subject, "dangers from foreign force and influence," and I will be going through them in the coming weeks. Here, Jay begins his argument that it is more beneficial for the country to become ONE nation under ONE federal government, as opposed to having several "independent sovereign states." In particular, he points out the hypocrisy, however diplomatically, of some of his contemporaries who were initially for a federal government, and then suddenly changed their position against it. I also found it funny, in a sad sort of way, that even back then, there were some members of the press who were against the Union. Times change, people don't. I hope you enjoy my reading of Federalist II.

In this episode, I talk about prominent democrat party leaders' calls for people to flood into Georgia and vote for the democrat Senate candidates in the upcoming January 5, 2021 run-off elections. Of course, the democrats don't care that this course of action is against (a very weak and difficult to enforce) state law. But who cares right? After all, if the democrats ain't cheatin', they ain't winnin'!

Keith Ellison, attorney general for the state of Minnesota, announced on June 3, 2020 that he is elevating the murder charge against Derek Chauvin from third degree murder to second degree murder. I think this is a huge mistake.

A young man was taken into custody for protesting peacefully. But there's more to it than that.

Michael Flynn's case is being manhandled by the idiotic judge who thinks, I believe, that he will be a supreme court contender should Biden wins, so he has to throw Gen. Flynn in jail to ingratiate himself with the lunatic left.

Adam Schiff is a liar, but that ain't nothing new.

The Wuhan virus is not anywhere near as deadly as we were led to believe.
