There are many different types of care providers, occupational therapists are one of them. Occupational therapist are found in various settings of healthcare and has an integral part in sharing the recovery, healing, and wellbeing of a patient. As an acupuncturist, I share many patients with occupational therapists. A few questions Mr. Batstone Raja, an occupational therapist in Los Angeles, CA will answer includes:

What is an OT or occupational therapist?

What do they do?

How can you access care?

015 Establishing Personal Freedom With The Four Agreements

A lot of us want to feel free. We want the freedom in our heart, mind, and soul to do as we please. Some of us are better at it than others. One of my favorite books, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a great read to gain insight on how to lose the attachments and gain our independence and freedom of living. In this episode we discuss some of the most common emotional turmoils my patient population are experiencing before discussing the four agreements.

011. Is acupuncture well received as an option in healthcare?

011. Is acupuncture well received as an option in healthcare?

Great question from a listener who wanted to know how receptive are hospital systems and patients to acupuncture. With big hospital systems like Kaiser Permanente, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, and big universities all around like, UCLA, Stanford, UCSF, and Cleveland Clinic, Stroger Hospital (to name a few)...Acupuncture is definitely a lot more accepted now than ever before.

The standoff-ish aspect of the medicine isn't the medicine itself, but maybe the stigma that was developed in people's mind and maybe also their personal experience. So is acupuncture a big deal should you only do acupuncture or what is the right approach in managing your health?

010. Achieve happiness by being yourself and appreciate the positive contrast

010. Achieve happiness by being yourself and appreciate the positive contrast

This episode is a huge brain fart to respond to a common struggle from patients who have been coming into the office. We all want to be loved. We all want to be accepted for who we are. We all want to be appreciated. Sometimes we want something so much that we don't get what we want and we get stuck. This is a message, a perspective, to remind you - you're great as you are. Being yourself is the best gift you can give to others and your key to your own happiness. If you don't like who you are, fix it.

Shelter in place has put a lot of things in perspective. Am I supposed to be doing what I am doing? Am I in the right career? Did a make use of my life? The choices we make affect our lives and we just have to be sure that we are making the decision that is right for us. Any decision we make that is helping us get closer to what we want, our North Star, then that is exactly what we should be doing.

002. How does acupuncture work?

002. How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture has become a lot more mainstream over the last decade. A common question I get from people is to answer the very question of how it works and what points to use. In this episode we highlight the Eastern and Western standpoint of how acupuncture works and also an example of the approach to treating migraines with acupuncture.

At this time with the occurrences in the world, I see a lot of patients with stress, headaches, and migraines.
