Time to Grow

Time to Grow

Melissa Wilsford is the owner of Rustic Hills Garden Co., a company focused on helping people to grow their own food through a full spectrum of services, from consultations and workshops to design and installation. Melissa believes that anyone can grow their own food and benefit from all the experience provides, and moreover, that growing our food is a powerful act toward fixing a broken food system. This two-fold passion is what led Melissa to start Rustic Hills Garden Co. She used her background in communications and journalism to launch, manage and promote this business. Her lifetime of gardening experience, artistic eye, and education as a Master Gardener served as the foundation for her continued self-taught skills in horticulture and design. In less than three years, Melissa has worked with over 100 clients while balancing the [now part-time] stay-at-home mom gig with her young children. Besides inspiring others to grow food, she hopes her perhaps unconventional business story can inspire others to "go for it."

Plus check out her gorgeous instagram account for backyard food-spiration!  @rustichillsgardenco

Boss Babe

Boss Babe

Do you feel like the boss in your life?  Do you feel like the boss of your body?

From Certified Public Accountant to Personal Trainer, Nutrition and Behavior Change coach. Jaiana Francis is the Founder & CEO of Boss Babe Fitness Academy, an online health and fitness program for fun, ambitious and busy women looking to undiet, have fun on their health journey and feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.

Jaiana believes that health and fitness is not about having the flattest stomach, a 6 pack or even a toned, lifted booty. It's about feeling confident and comfortable in your own skin, running after your kiddos and not losing your breath and wearing clothes that make you FEEL GOOD without worry or overwhelm.

Jaiana believes that as women, we often put ourselves on the backburner and think it's selfless to pour 100% of ourselves into our family, friends and significant others. However, if you would pour 100% of yourself into YOU and meet your own needs, you would show up in this world more powerfully to express your gifts, talents, and UNIQUE SELF fully! Being healthy and fit is not selfish, it's a necessity. Jaiana believes that every woman deserves to look in the mirror and say "YESSSSSSSS! I love ME. I love me on the inside and out."

Bonus! Mindful Eating Meditation

Bonus! Mindful Eating Meditation

Mindfulness & meditation doesn't have to be big or complicated.  This mindful eating meditation can be done anywhere & anytime with your first few bites of a meal or with your kids.

Mindfulness is mind & body in the same place at the same time.  How often do you eat and are entirely not present for the experience.  Food freedom doesn't have to do with restricting or counting, but rather being in tune with our body.  Learning how to trust your hunger and when you want more.  Learning what satisfied feels like and enough.  They are all within you, it just takes some tuning back in and taking a break from the distractions.

Take the first few bites of your meal this way and notice how things shift as time goes on.  Perfection is not required.  Thoughts & distractions will come in and you don't have to attach to everything that comes into your mind.  Acknowledge it and let it float on by.

Thanks for listening!

What we store in our body

What we store in our body

For almost all women “I’m supposed to be responsible for everything, and everything is my fault.” D.H.

"What we store in our body is really in the unconscious mind. " D.H.

In this episode Dorthea Hrossowyc is my guest.  Dorthea is a Level Three (highest level) Practitioner of Self-Led Transformational Counseling, or Self Leadership, also called Internal Family Systems or IFS. It is some of the most powerful inner work you may ever experience, and it is the fastest growing new development in psychotherapy.  It resonates deeply with Rosen Method Bodywork, Empowerment Counseling, and with healing old patterns and old trauma.

Self-Led Transformation holds the truth that within each of us is the Self, and that we are designed to live our lives in complete creativity, with full power and intelligence, full of awe and wonder, fully connected to each other in loving cooperation with compassion, zest and compassion. This is your inherent nature, your true Self, and it is possible to live from this place, the essence of the real self.

Guided Meditations:

12:30 Shifting internalized messages

44:00 Get out of fight/flight mode

49:00 Discharging Fear/ Anxiety

In this episode we discuss some of the following:

There are lots of different parts of us. Protectors, exiles, firefighters

Somatic- body connection

Changing neural pathways

Frustration with the behaviors you continue.

The behavior is a protector of some kind. Following the trailheads.

Quantum physics- What you expect is all you can see. You can’t see anything else.

The importance of allowing emotions. Emotions really last about 90 seconds.

Thinking relationally men vs. women

Giving up old assumptions.

Vagus nerve

Oxytocin cascade

Adrenaline- runs the body on fast

Self-medicating

What we store in our body

It’s still out in the culture that if your female it’s your fault. If your female it’s your body’s fault. There’’s something wrong with your body.

If we choose not to believe it, it will show up in our body without asking permission.- A

It’s hard to shift these with your conscious mind. Your conscious mind knows better.

Healing is our path and our journey, and this requires you. You don’t need anyone else. It’s all within you to heal yourself. -Anastasia

“Anxiety & fear shows us the expectations that we are expecting to happen…. What you expect is all you can see. You can’t see anything else.”

Depression is usually fear & sadness held in over a long period of time. When you always puts your sadness away it becomes depression.

It's that time of year when we often get the spring cleaning itch. We have spent way too much time in our homes. Where do you start? How do you get it done? Most importantly, why does it matter? Space matters and greatly influences our choices, more than we even know.

It was such a pleasure to sit down with Kielyn Simonson, the owner of OrgaNice, and chat life, passion, and of course organization. If you are ready to make a change, overwhelmed by your space or feeling the COVID blahs with working from home, I invite you to listen to this episode. Don't forget to share it with a friend!
