Interview with Dr. Dave Roberts - Comp Sci Professor & Startup Founder
Doctor Dave Roberts is not only a Professor of Computer Science at NC State where he runs their CIIGAR lab which stands for Computational Intelligence and Interactive Games Research lab, but he is also the co-founder of a Silicon Valley startup. Dr. Roberts’ got his undergrad degree in Math and Computer Science, and went on to study, what he called “Interactive Virtual Experiences” at Georgia Tech, but which he admits is just an academic way of saying “Computer Games.” He views games as cultural artifacts and important platforms for Artificial Intelligence research and seeks to use them as a window into human behavior by incorporating concepts from social psychology and observing how they manifest themselves in game play. Given his area of expertise, as well as his experience going from a tech-outsider to a startup co-founder, we believe that the insights Dr. Roberts can provide to anyone trying to build a business in the blockchain space is invaluable.

The Most Advanced Freemium Blockchain?
In this episode of The Steemit Podcast, Senior Blockchain Engineer at Steemit (@vandeberg) explains Steem's revolutionary Resource Credit system which is the key to making Steem the best freemium blockchain in the world for powering applications. While other blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum use transaction fees to allocate resource consumption by the network, Resource Credits enable Steem to allocate resources without charging any fees at all, while still preventing spam and bloat. In this episode, we learn more about this under-appreciated system, and why Steem is uniquely suited to benefit from this system unlike general-purpose protocols like Ethereum.

SteemHunt & ReviewHunt: Interview with Founder Young-Hwi
Young-Hwi is the Founder and designer behind Steemhunt and the newly announced Reviewhunt. He's an experienced designer and serial entrepreneur, so a lot of ground was covered in this interview. As an entrepreneur who has been delivering one of the few real blockchain-powered products to users for years, Yung-Hwi's insights into building a tech business in the blockchain space are priceless. If you'd like to learn more about their new product, Reviewhunt, you can skip to minute 52. In short, companies can gain access to the platforms "Hunters" by purchasing Review credits. Those Review credit purchases will then be linked directly to the exchange markets through their API, generating demand for the token. That means that as they expand their sales, and grow the reach of their product, that should create non-speculative demand for their token.

Ep. 3: MIRA Interview with Senior Blockchain Engineer @vandeberg
In this short episode the Senior Blockchain Engineer at Steemit, @vandeberg, discusses the hardware scaling solution he architected called MIRA which is now undergoing a soft roll-out. MIRA leverages state-of-the-art database technology developed by Facebook to dramatically reduce the cost of running the Steem blockchain by allowing nodes to store almost all necessary data on low cost (commodity) hardware instead of in RAM without degrading performance. This is the scaling challenge that no one else is talking about because no other blockchain has applications with as much real-time engagement and traffic as Steem. Other high-performance blockchain protocols accomplish their speed by storing their blockchain database in RAM. RAM is incredibly expensive and unlike commodity-hardware, its price is not decreasing at an exponential rate. Thanks to MIRA, we will likely be able to reduce the amount of RAM being used in our Steem node by 50% and the nVME usage by 100%! Instead, we can switch entirely to generic network backed SSDs. This should reduce the costs of running a node to a *fraction* of what it used to be.
