#159 Feeling Blue at Blu 72
Sorry about the wind.  Become a Patron  It has been an up and down week since I came home from BLU 72. I was at 78 miles when I got the Weasel call and she needed me to come home. I wanted to complete my 20th 100 mile or longer race but the 22 miles was going to take me 7 hours especially when she called at hour 30. I needed some sleep and did take a short nap and shower before I headed back to Bako. To add to the stress I start a ten week training program with Fit For Life which included tightening up my 16 / 8 regimen. All of this has lead to a roller coaster of energy and motivation. But I want to be prepared for FANS 24 and TGNY 100 in June.   No better combination! Raising money for kids and walking and running! I just got my plane ticket to Minnesota to do the FANS 24 Hour walk please consider making a donation! I look forward to doing laps with Scott, Ed and many others.

#164 Gad! I am tired of all the BS in the running world.
Been watching "Huge in France" with Gad and took away the message that you have to be yourself.  If that means you ruffle some feathers or make people want to hit you ... So in this episode I talk about training or the lack of it by many out there in the endurance running world. #165 Road to a BQ: ANEC Case Study
A listener wrote " I had an idea for your podcast.  Case studies on people you've coached.  What they were needing, what changes you helped them make, what were the critical factors that lead to improvements, success stories." Since Boston just happen and this is the tenth year anniversary of Andy Noise Endurance Coaching, I thought I would talk about one of my first athlete's journey to a BQ.  Become a Patron!  Support the FANS Scholarship program by pledging for Andy Noise. #166 It’s about time not miles: ANEC
Lots of articles about athlete's success at Boston and there is a common theme, weekly mileage. You should convert the miles to minutes and realize you can train like the elites but at your level. A 120 mile week for a sub 2:10 guy is only 12 hours a week based on a the Jack Daniel's VDOT calculator which says Easy Pace for a 2:10 guy is sub 6 minute miles. So get out there and put your hours in.  Andy Noise  Become a Patron!  Support the FANS Scholarship program by pledging for Andy Noise. All funds raised go directly to the FANS program sponsored by Pillsbury United Communities You can support your racer, and the FANS program by making a pledge of a flat dollar amount, or make it more fun and pledge per mile! Wondering how FANS 6, 12, and 24 hour ULTRA race got it's name?   FANS is an acronym which stands for Furthering Achievement through a Network of Support, is a program of Pillsbury United Communities (PUC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota that supports urban teenagers in achieving their goal of earning a college education. The FANS Race is an annual 6, 12, and 24 hour ultra walk & running race that supports the FANS Scholarship Fund.    Sending youth to college is achievable if we concentrate our efforts on education, and on building a network of support around every child. Minnesota has a distinction that none of us can be proud of: its education achievement gap is one of the worst in the nation. On so many levels—from economics to social justice—we can no longer afford to ignore the persistence of the achievement gap that has already laid claim to too many of our children and young people. It is time to confront this problem head-on, and programs like FANS, do just that. FANS prepares youth in 9th through 12th grade for college. Youth and staff work together to develop plans to achieve goals like delaying parenthood, resisting drugs, contributing to the community, and going to college. Youth are also given opportunities to find scholarships, prepare for the ACT/SAT tests, and look at career opportunities that align with college programs. Participating youth who fulfill the requirements are eligible to earn college scholarship money (through the FANS Scholarship Fund) upon graduating from high school. Working together as a community, we can change the high school graduation and college enrollment rates for urban core youth of color.

#172 Some Bridges Need To Be Burned
I felt great after the Silver Moon 12 Hour on Monday but was so slow on Tuesday. Delayed reaction is real for me. Do a marathon and feel it asap. Something longer and it hits me days later. I think it is because you are so jacked up on hormones and adrenaline etc. Though I was  in training I was working quickly on my new website design, Mindbody app, and I had an phone interview with a reporter from Sports Illustrated where I think I burned some Bridges. And I left yet another social media group because it's leader is a bully. Please consider being a sponsor of this podcast.

It can be intimidating to line up against athletes who are much better than you. Though you hope to race well, you know getting (painfully) dropped from the pack is likely. #47 Lyfting is inspiring me to train with more focus.
Driving people around town has inspired me to train smarter and more focused. Made me appreciate my health and wealth (subjective) and also to not take my pursuit too seriously. The real world doesn’t think what we do is crazy etc and we shouldn’t either.

#40 Johnny Cash’s “What is Truth” Fueled This Rant
After watching Tricky Dicky and the Man in Black on Netflix I had to bring the Noise. Johnny Cash was invited to sing at the Nixon White House and he sang “A little boy of three sittin' on the floor Looks up and says, "Daddy, what is war?" "son, that's when people fight and die" The little boy of three says "Daddy, why?" A young man of seventeen in Sunday school Being taught the golden rule And by the time another year has gone around It may be his turn to lay his life down Can you blame the voice of youth for asking "What is truth?"

#36 Me thinks Thou Protest Too Much
The RD oF Western States says “I'm struggling with this one. Races have been getting pressured to adopt pregnancy deferrals. @wser implements two very generous policies (lottery bye and entry deferral) and now we're being criticized for posting who declared pregnancy byes? So much for transparency, I guess.”
