It can be intimidating to line up against athletes who are much better than you. Though you hope to race well, you know getting (painfully) dropped from the pack is likely. I try to frame this as a positive event and remind myself I may never glimpse my limits if these other athletes weren’t pushing or pulling me along.
Driving people around town has inspired me to train smarter and more focused. Made me appreciate my health and wealth (subjective) and also to not take my pursuit too seriously. The real world doesn’t think what we do is crazy etc and we shouldn’t either.
Topics in this episode include supporting your local old school races, pagers and babies, Western States / Hardrock, Run short races to reach your goals in longer ones and some Andy Noise Coaching Specials. And the #D40 Challenge.
I started coaching full time in 2009 and as we approach my tenth year of coaching, I want to offer a great deal to my ANEC Alumni. Rejoin for the monthly membership price that you paid when you were an active member.
After watching Tricky Dicky and the Man in Black on Netflix I had to bring the Noise. Johnny Cash was invited to sing at the Nixon White House and he sang “A little boy of three sittin' on the floor
Looks up and says, "Daddy, what is war?"
"son, that's when people fight and die"
The little boy of three says "Daddy, why?"
A young man of seventeen in Sunday school
Being taught the golden rule
And by the time another year has gone around
It may be his turn to lay his life down
Can you blame the voice of youth for asking
"What is truth?"

The RD oF Western States says “I'm struggling with this one. Races have been getting pressured to adopt pregnancy deferrals. @wser implements two very generous policies (lottery bye and entry deferral) and now we're being criticized for posting who declared pregnancy byes? So much for transparency, I guess.”
I have been using the Galloway method for decades and encourage my athletes to use it as well. Here is a link to the GymBoss timer app that I use. Gymboss Interval Timer by Gymboss LLC https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gymboss-interval-timer/id500887448?mt=8
